Jose Luis Leon will be teaching this week! He has been teaching salsa for 11 years and has competed & exhibited his dancing skills throughout New York. In his instruction, Jose explains each step as you go and gives tips that help your body and mind retain the moves. He makes sure each step works for each person to bring out their own creativity. Upon request, Jose can also teach Merengue, Bachata, Swing & Tango.

Join us for our salsa beginner lesson this Thursday @ 7:30pm! The cost is only $15.

The class is designed to accommodate three types of beginners: absolute beginners who've never danced before, those new to latin dance, and those who know a few of the basics.

The atmosphere is warm, unintimidating, and a lot of fun. No fear, no procrastinating: get yourself on in here!
*Attire: wear whatever makes you feel comfortable - suit, skirt, sweats, tuxedo, jeans, whatever? just don't wear flip flops!!!

SOBs & DJ Rekha announce the annual Thanksgiving Editon of Basement Bhangra. Every year Rekha treats her fans to a pre-Thanksgiving party that has become a ritual of the holiday season.

As always the night starts with free frozen mojitos from 7-8. That means you can drink UNLIMITED frozen Mojitos for an hour. If that wasnt incentive enough to get down here early, the incomparable Eddie Stats will be spinning to get the crowd warmed up. At 9 the Free Dance lesson starts and we guarantee that you'll be ready to move with the best of them by the time the teacher is done with you. The night also features a live performance from Red Baraat, who will be celebrating the digital release of their debut album, Chaal Baby.

The 2nd Annual Destination Guadeloupe Festival comes to New York to celebrate the culture of the islands that make up Guadeloupe. The Festival runs from November 18-22; and the celebraiton's main event is happening at SOBs on Sunday, November 22nd.

What Guadeloupe has to offer is unique on many levels, from the stimulating visual imagery that animates the paintings of Joel Nankin to the culinary mastery of visiting chef Georges Césarin. These bastions of the island's creativity will serve as two companion pieces to high-powered music ensembles that spotlight many hypnotically indigenous styles, among them Gwo-ka drumming, Jazz Gwada and lilting Zouk; these are key among the earthy, modern sounds that supplanted an earlier, pre-millennial Guadeloupe-New York sensation, the once-influential dance style called biguine.

All of the aforementioned stars return to S.O.B.'s for the evening's sprawling MAIN EVENT, and to boost the energy level even higher, Luc Leandry, the King of Zouk, headlines along with the Divas of Zouk, Joëlle Ursull (known for her work with Zouk Machine and French pop provocateur Serge Gainsbourg) and the sultry Jocelyne Labylle, who has also taken France by storm. Panik's versatility will again be on display, as the dynamic ensemble handles the wide-ranging repertoires of each star. In addition, audiences can also enjoy the native haute-cuisine of Chef Georges Césarin, who will be in the kitchen at S.O.B.'s for one night only, having made the trip all the way from the Casino de Gosier on the Guadeloupe island of Gosier. Also, one lucky audience member will get even more than a taste of Guadeloupe as the winner of the evening's Destination Guadeloupe Raffle, the grand prize of which is a trip for two to the island (plus hotel accommodations for two). It's the perfect cap to a weekend of French-Caribbean sights, sounds and sensations.
