Events :: Indy's 1st Puerto Rican Music Festival - Saturday, Jul 11th

You are cordially invited to participate in Indianapolis�1st Puerto Rican Festival, VIVA! Puerto Rico, on Saturday, July 11, 2009 from 12pm - 8pm at Garfield Park.

The main purpose of VIVA! Puerto Rico is to promote Puerto Rican culture through authentic musical performances, arts and cuisine. The live music will take place at the grand and historic MacAllister Center, food vendors will be located on the Garfield Park grounds and artists will display and sell their works inside the Garfield Park Arts Center.

After the festival come join us at Adobo Tequila Bar for the After Party, DJ Lucio will be spinning the hottest Bachata, Salsa, Merengue and Reggaeton from 10pm - 3am.

Chimere will teach 3 hours of ladies styling which is designed to help each lady improve their body isolation, basics, partner work, spins, and solo shine. She will lead a series of styling exercises before teaching a fun, sexy routine which you will be able to incorporate in your social dancing and solo shines. This class is primarily geared toward Beginner 2, Intermediate, and advanced- leveled dancers. All who sigh up must have some basic level of salsa experience.

Jennifer Luna will be conducting a ladies styling workshop on Monday, May 11th at 8pm to 9:30pm at Riolo Dance Studio. This workshop is designed to work on body isolations and arm/hand styling. This workshop is for any lady who wants to work on styling, and if you are planning on trying out for our dance team, this workshop is highly recommended. $12 fee.

The interactive show features her Mundo Beat All Star Band, with top musicians from the region, and the collaboration of regional dancers. It is a musical tour of Latin American carnivals and it is geared to giving the audience a very fun time. The production will debut on Friday, February 20, 2009, at The Jazz Kitchen. Two shows: 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. $15.00. Doors open at 5 p.m. for dinner. Reservations strongly recommended. To complement the show, The Jazz Kitchen will be offering food and beverage specialties from Latin America. After 11:00 p.m., the after-show salsa party starts in the new back room of The Jazz Kitchen with DJ Lucio playing the hottest salsa, merengue, and bachata. Admission after 11:00 p.m. $8.
