Zenei pályafutását a '80-as években kezdte, de a köztudatba igazán az 1993-ban kiadott Mi tierra („Az én földem”) című lemezével robbant be, amiért az első Grammy-díjat is kapta.

Valentin, born Roberto Valentin in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, was taught by his father to play the guitar at a young age. When his mother died in 1947,he went to live with his older sister and was raised in the town of Coamo; there he received his primary education and studied music. When he 11 years old, he participated in a local talent contest with a trio which he had formed. He played the guitar and sang for the trio and they won the first place prize. One of his teachers suggested that he attend the Jose I. Quinton Academy of Music, which he did - here he learned to play thetrumpet.[1]

In 1956, Valentin moved with his family to New York City where he attended George Washington High School and continued to take music lessons. In 1958, he went to play for Joe Quijano but, shortly after he joined Willie Rosario, who also came from his same neighborhood and played in his band.[2]

Luis Guillermo Texidor Ortiz es su nombre. Tiene 71 años, 14 hijos, 24 nietos y 5 bisnietos. Mejor conocido como Luigi, fue uno de los primeros salseros en los años 60 que matizó sus versos con frases jocosas, ocurrentes y divertidas, como en el tema Ñáñara Caí, en el que vacila con “la vaca que chocó con Pacheco”.

Natural del pueblo de Santa Isabel, Luigi nació el 20 de enero de 1935 en la Colonia Florida, una de las comunidades de obreros agregados al viejo Central Aguirre, cerca del municipio de Salinas. Descendiente de una familia de trabajadores de la caña, tuvo cinco hermanos que nunca conoció, ya que murieron de niños debido a las graves enfermedades que azotaron a Puerto Rico en los años 20 y 30.

An offshoot of the Harlem Youth Opportunities Unlimited (aka Har-You), a social activism organization founded by Dr. Kenneth Clark in 1962, the Harlem Youth Percussion Group encouraged creativity and expression and offered a way for young African-Americans to get in touch with their musical heritage and learn about music.
Jamaican-born percussionist Montegro Joe was asked by Julien Euell (executive director of the arts and culture division of Har-You Percussion) to teach Afro and jazz percussion. After four years of training, these 11 young men, age 16-19, created an album, Sounds of the Ghetto Youth, in 1967. Album royalties from the project went into a scholarship fund for the students. The group was reunited on the Cu-Bop label in 1996.

La Band Sicula Sabrosa nasce da un progetto di Massimo Scalici pianista arrangiatore palermitano da anni specializzato nei ritmi caraibici.

Dal 2002 anno in cui la band inizia il suo percorso, numerose sono state le collaborazioni, le manifestazioni e le produzioni discografiche che hanno permesso alla Sicula Sabrosa di essere considerata oggi una delle band latino americane più importanti d’Italia.

Tra le collaborazioni, vi sono grandi nomi del panorama latino americano internazionale quali Francisco Rojos, Tito Valdez, Fito Gress, Alberto Valdes, Fernando Sosa, Barbara Jimenez, Roly Maden e molti altri.

Fernando Martin Sosa (Montevideo, 19 maggio 1977) è un ballerino uruguaiano specializzato nei balli caraibici. Sin da piccolo frequenta un importante club di Montevideo facendo ginnastica artistica per diversi anni. Arriva in Italia a quindici anni e conosce il suo grande maestro Alberto Valdes, che dopo qualche anno lo porta a Cuba per approfondire le radici afro-cubane.

Calle Real is a Timba band from Sweden founded in 1999. Calle Real currently has twelve members who play modern timba with distinctive pop influences. The music is well arranged and suited for the club scene. There is a definite heavy groove with a sound that differs from the mainstream. There are elements of rock, funk, R&B and especially pop, which is not unusual considering the band members grew up with MTV.

The band was founded towards the end of 1999 by Patricio Sobrado, initially as a trio, playing old Cuban songs in the style of the Buena Vista Social Club. Since then, new musicians have joined the band while others have moved on. The group has changed its style to timba.

Maykel Blanco is one of the most talented young musicians in Cuba today. An excellent percussionist and pianist, he is also a talented composer and producer and at the age of 26 (at the time of this article) he is director of one of the fastest rising bands on the Timba scene: Maykel Blanco y Salsa Mayor.

Maykel pursued amateur studies in percussion at Gerardo Guanche Conservatory and Amadeo Roldán. He then took up keyboard "by necessity" as he told Timba.com in an interview. He taught himself to play piano because he was dissatisfied with the arrangements that other people were doing . When you hear him play it's hard to believe he learned "empirically". His background as percussionist can be heard in his "percussive" piano style, which has won him fans around the world.

A la edad de 15 años terminó los estudios elementales de Piano básico y comienza a estudiar en otro conservatorio donde ya cursa estudios medio-superiores hasta terminar a la edad de 18 años .En ese momento empieza a tocar en diferentes orquestas Cubanas donde aprende de los diferentes sonidos que en la actualidad caracterizan a la musica popular cubana ,sin querer se convierte en un musico adicto a los arreglos y a la compocicion musical en general . Je suis originaire de la Martinique passioné par la musique et le chant issue d'une famille de musiciens.
Mes influences musicales sont : Eugene Mona, Patrick Saint éloi, Ti mano, Les fréres Dejean, La Perfecta (Paulo Albin, Paulo Rosine), Malavoi (Ralph Thamar), Max Rancé.
En passant par Jacques Brel , Edith Piaf , Georges Brassens, Charles Aznavour et bien d'autres.
J'ai participé sur diverses compiles (Zouk) , ces différents projets m'ont permis de faire des rencontres formidables et enrichissantes.

Wilson Manyoma Gil, conocido como Wilson Saoko o "Saoko" es un cantante colombiano de salsa nacido en Cali el 30 de agosto de 1951. Perteneció a la agrupación "Sonora Juventud" y se desempeñó como bailarín de griles en el popular sector de Juanchito entre 1966 y 1972.

La principal característica que lo ha distinguido a lo largo de su carrera musical es la contundencia de su voz, que, aunque de un tono grave, es bastante versátil, permitiéndole entonar tanto melodías románticas como rumberas.
