Last week I attend Thriller presented by the Odyssey Dance Theater presented at Kingsbury Hall on the University of Utah Campus. This was my first year attending the performance that has become a tradition in Salt Lake. Prior to the show starting there were a number of Zombies wandering around the theater to greet the audience.

This weekend I went to the Litte Saraha Sand Dunes in Central Utah for a photo shoot. Some of the pictures from the shoot will be on Just M Images in the coming weeks, but i couldn't help but take a few landscapes while I was there.

This photo was taken at South Point on the Big Island of Hawaii. South Point is the southern most point in the United States and has some of the bluest water I have ever seen.

Thanks to everyone that took a minute to vote on my photos for the Capture Utah photo book. Fingers crossed at this point. And thanks for the wonderful comments about my submissions.
I promise just another day or two of Hawaii shots and I'll start getting Salt Lake photos back up here.

A little Baking

Over the weekend I got a bug... a baking bug. I've always loved to bake but don't do it all that often, but this weekend I went a bit nuts.

I started by making cake pops. They are a delicious bite sized chocolate covered cake on a stick. Yummy!

While I was making them I had the tv on in the background and saw Emril talking about his Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookies. Since I was already baking I thought... why not.

A'a Inspiring

While in Hawaii I was driving around the Big Island getting lost and finding so many wonderful things in the process. Why not get lost... it's an island, you can only go so far.
One of the things I learned while driving around was the Hawaiian name for lava. One of two names for lava that is. The first I heard while listening to the informational radio station while driving through Volcano National Park. It said "Let the awe inspire you" I through... "clever I guess" until I realized it was a'a pronounced ah ah then I really appreciated the play on words. A'a is the rough chunky lava while pa-hoehoe is the smooth unbroken type lava.

So now that you have had your Hawaiian language lesson for the day, let the a'a inspire you.

While driving around getting lost I was pointed in the direction of a lava viewing area in Kalapana which is about 30 miles south of Hilo on hwy 130. I wasn't equipped with the right gear to take this shot, the viewing area being 15 miles away from the flow, so the image is a litte grainy but it was really amazing to see lava flowing into the ocean!

Apparently Turtles and I have a great relationship. A number of times while in Hawaii both on the beach and while snorkeling turtles would come right up to me. I'm not sure what it is about me, but they loved me. Hey, who am I to complain about a few good turtle shots?

The Colors of Hawaii

I'm back! Hawaii was beautiful and amazing, I really wish I could just stay... Winter is coming too quickly here in Utah and the beach is calling my name.

Sorry for the few missed days of posting, the internet access where I was staying was very spotty and I gave up on fighting with it. I will continue to post pictures from my Hawaiian adventures for the next few days while I get back into the swing of work and life.
