It’s Offical, I am Moving!

After blogging for about a year and half now I have decided to move my blog to host it myself. I did this for a few reasons but one of the main reasons is so that my blog can reflect the look and feel of our new kids website.

My new home will be www.samluce.com please note this change as all my posts from now on will be at that location. (I have been update two identical blogs for a while not fun).

I will also let you know when our new website is up and the content is live.

YouTube Friday: Hillsong Healer Correction

A couple of weeks ago I posted a youtube video from Hillsong. It has come to my attention that the author of the song was faking his terminal illness. Here is the article explaining it.

I am still a huge fan of Hillsong. I feel very badly especially for his wife and kids. I still believe every word that was written under false pretenses. Despite his obvious delusional state, every word he or someone who wrote that song “Healer” says about our God is true.

Studying for my camp messages and a friend of mine told me about this video. I am not sure why, maybe to boost my confidence or keep me from preaching a similar message to 6th graders. Either way it’s a crazy video all I can say is WOW.

Change something

I have been doing a good amount of creative thought as well as a decent amout of writing. I have been in a creative rut brought on by a busyness, deadlines, and the cares of life.

How I get out of creative ruts.

Change location – get out of the office. Go somewhere different, perhaps a local coffee shop, a park, maybe a healing tree (vailed Michael Jackson referance)

Disconnect – Unplug all your stuff and sit think and pray old school. This one is the most difficult one for me.

Engage – talk to someone who has a different perspective or viewpoint than you. I always love seeing a problem or situation from another perspective.

True Fasting

One of my favorite writers is a man by the name of Brennan Manning. He has a powerful testimony but what I appreciate most about him is his ability to tap into the Nature of God our Father. He has a devotional that I enjoy immensely entitled “Refections For Ragamuffins”. The following is a devotion entitled “True Fasting”.

Our church is starting 58 days of prayer and fasting. We believe that we can do nothing apart from prayer. We are passionate about reaching people far from God. In order to do what we feel God calling us to do we need to take some time and dedicate it to prayer and fasting. During this time we will be focusing on three areas:
1.) Praying for our children and youth
2.) Praying that God will give us wisdom and favor in reaching people who don’t yet know Him
3.) Our Fall Outreach

We will be doing most of this prayer and fasting on a personal level however every Thursday night we will meet together as a church to believe God together.

I came across this video from a couple of my blogger buddies, Jason and Gareth. Wow! Powerful stuff very moving. If you can watch the following videos and not be moved your God is to small.

The first video talks about what you will see in the second video make sure you watch both. Very moving. We truly serve a supernatural God. Never forget that.

Heading up to Canada, Eh!

The fam and I are heading up to Canada for some R&R and to shoot a wedding. So needless to say the blog will be quite for the next week or so.

Besides I am not sure if my in-laws igloo has electricity, or the internet.

Should little kids go to Big church?

Great post with some great thoughts on wether or not kids should go to kids church or big church.

Even as a kids pastor I can see valid reasons for people to keep their kids in Big church. I however lean more toward kids attending kids church if kids church is engaging.

When kids church is not engaging it bothers me. When I hear rumblings that kids are not being engaged by the life-giving, life changing word of God I get annoyed real fast. Any way off my soap box. Check out the link below from the Stuff Christians like Bog.
