This original Three Reed Harmonium Instrument has been lovingly re-created using the professional studio of Amarjeet Bolla and Kaneda at Sampleism to provide you with an authentic sounding Kontakt 4 Patch.

This particular Harmonium is a high quality ‘jas’ model. A superior quality product, not quite as authentic and rustic in sound as the single reed model but with a higher spec and tonal character.

Controls:

1. There is a slight frequency adjuster to give the subtle wow effect that the original instrument created a bit of extra control. CC22 will alter the speed of the frequency shift.

2. You can dial in an additonal Octave either below or above the root to give extra depth and warmth depending on your mood. CC20 will dial in the Low Octave while CC21 will dial in the High Octave

3. Although Indian music tends to keep the instrument source dry from Reverb we have included a control to allow you to alter the Reverb from zero to Mild..;-D CC23 will control the Reverb Wet Signal.

Thanks for choosing Sampleism to sell your sounds!

When you have your profile created on Sampleism you are going to want to ensure it is set-up for maximum accessibility and exposure.

Ensure you have your name, details, tagline and descriptions up-to-date and as accurate as possible. This will ensure your kits are easily found by potential customers. See link - Setting Up Your Store

It is very powerful if each developer uses their own means of promotion but here are a few suggestions to get you started:

1. Join the Sampleism group on Soundcloud - Here - and share your demos with the group.

We are very pleased to announce that Tronsonic, developers of distinction, are now adding their library to Sampleism for instant download.

This particular instrument is a Progressive Clavi D6 resampled and developed into a fully playable Kontakt instrument

The Progressive Clavi D6 (esx24 patches) by tronsonic

Two sets of samples from the classic clavinet D6, with the emphasis on exploring new sonic possibilities from this string based keyboard.

Sampled through 60’s valve preamps to worn tape to 44khz/24 bit - no eq/compression etc.

Distortion and Wah plus external amps turns this into a monster!

I’ve created a few unexpected patches, to demonstrate the scope of the clavinet as a different type of synthesizable sound source.

I’ve used an extreme azimuth setting on the tape heads , giving a more ‘damaged’, brittle sound.

These artifact flecks help the distortion work well - enabling bite on low settings with the clarity of the instrument retained.

Contains 2 sets of samples with over 40 patches each for kontakt and esx24 - patches differ across formats.

The full version of Kontakt 3 or 4 will be needed to play this product,and version 4.2.2 to utilise the patches.

Both Kontakt and Esx24 banks/patches are in this download,as well as files compatible with Nnxt and Structure, but no patches at present for these.

Patch 01-02 - Sustained Wineglass (Glassharmonica): I sampled every halfstep from f2 - b4. But I then further extended the instrument from c2 up to e5 for better playability. 1 velocity layer, but you can control the volume either by velocity or modwheel. Each sample is about 25 seconds long (!) and looped.

Patch 03-04 - Wineglass hit with an iron fork: I sampled 16 velocity layers and pitched them accros the whole playing range. There are 2 different patches.

Patch 05 Glass Piano V1: I created this patch by editing the start and attack parameters of each sample in Kontakt using the sustained samples. 1 velocity layer.

Patch 06-07 Glass Piano V2: A very aery almost synth like piano sound. I included 2 versions, one with 5 round robin samples and another one with no round robins. (so it sounds more “fixed”)

Patch 08 Warm Glass Pad: A bonus patch! It is a nice warm glass like pad-sound consisting of 3 velocity layers with 2rr each.

Notes:

You can control the attack and release settings of each patch directly via the kontakt interface.

Velocity controlled patches use the modwheel for a vibrato effect.

This is a Kontakt 4 library so you will need the full version of Kontakt 4 ore 5!

All samples are compressed in Kontakts ncw format.

Well, you are probably aware that Sampleism has recently been running a competition to find some of the best independent library developers there is to find.

Sampleism is all about creating cool, unique pocket-sized instruments and libraries and we specialise in giving talented developers a central outlet for their sounds

Wow - We have received some amazing entries and we are very proud to announce them here.

In 3rd Place is a little known developer going by the name of ‘MA Simon’. He uploaded a pack for Kontakt called ‘Harmonic Wineglass’ which contains 8 wonderful atmospheric patches. The kit is expressive and rich in sound. It’s a multisampled (24bit 44100) Glass Harmonica with real style. Well done to MA Simon he wins a Bronze account on Sampleism - You can listen to the demo of this instrument below:

In 2nd Place is another new-comer ‘System Effect’. This is another Kontakt gem and is truly awesome. He recorded 2,870 individual 24bit samples of the legendary Pro 1 Analog Synthesizer. Nearly all presets have 4 x round Robins on every note for complete authenticity with every key sampled for a huge sonic range of 7 octaves! On average 340 samples per preset. All samples were recorded through a Neve ‘73 pre-amp going into a UBK Fatso analog compressor (lightly touched) with subtle UBK Fatso tape saturation. No plugins or anything digital touched these recordings! The result is outstanding! System Effect wins a Sampleism Silver Account.

Pro 1 Bass Vol 1 Demo by Captain Proton

The Winner is somebody you may have already heard of - ‘Tronsonic’ - What we can say? He obviously puts a lot of effort into creating his amazing Kontakt Instruments. The pack he submitted is called ‘The Dark Horse’ - Featuring the raw unfiltered sawtooth and square waveforms, plus white noise from the amazing analogue Kawai 100f synth, sampled through 60s valve equipment to worn tape, to emulate the sound of the mellotron. Mapped to Kontakt 4.2.2, Esx24, Nnxt and Structure, with 350 different patches (175 each for Kontakt and Esx24). Some very surprising and interesting new sounds from this little known synth - it goes to show that there are some fantastic sounding oscillators hidden away in obscure instruments like this one. Tronsonic wins a Sampleism Gold Account which means he gets unlimited storage and earns 90% for every sale he makes so I’m sure you will be hearing much more from Tronsonic in the future at Sampleism.

Hi, today we re-direct the spotlight upon our most fervent and prolific Kontakt developer.

He goes by the name of Michael Bietenholz and has been a long-time contributor to Sampleism and the world of Kontakt Libraries. He creates and develops very cool and highly playable pocket-sized Kontakt Instruments for only a few pounds (that’s Sterling don’t you know!)

He has been making music for many, many years. He would tell us his actual age but he did let slip that he bought a DX7 when it first came out !

He spends his time either in Toronto, Canada or Johannesburg, South Africa.

When we asked him to tell us a little bit about himself here’s what he had to say:

Musically, I’m a bit all over the map. I have played in numerous obscure Toronto bands including Three Day Bender, Jughead, and Rhea’s Obsession and I’ve played in a Ceili band. Currently the most active thing is Sloth Brain, an improvised electronic outfit.

My first synth was a PAIA kit that I soldered together myself. It was held together with spit and baling wire, but it was modular and patchable, even though wasn’t exactly Keith Emerson’s wall of Moog.

What kind of Audio Tools do you develop?

Mostly Kontakt patches

What Software / Hardware do you use?

Kontakt, Cubase, Reaper, Audacity. When in South Africa I use the laptop with an Yamaha Audiogram 6 and a Prokeys 88SX controller. When in Toronto, I have a HP Desktop with a Delta 44 soundcard, Yamaha P90, Oxygen 8, EPS 16+, DX7, MS20, a 101-year-old Heintzmann upright acoustic piano, and of course a ukulele. I have a Zoom H2 and a Tascam DR2D portable recorder.

What’s your inspiration?

In sound development, I usually look for sounds that can be made to respond to playing in a natural and organic way. I don’t like static sounds, I want velocity to do something, the mod-wheel to do something else, keypressure to do a third thing (I love the polyphonic keypressure on my old EPS 16+). My dream would be to have patches that are as expressive as a saxophone or a violin. Anyone can pile on a few more gigabytes of samples, but I’d rather have more programming.

Real instruments, after all, don’t have lots of samples, but they do respond in complex ways to the user input. Kontakt especially has very deep programming capabilities, it seems a shame to use it to just play back samples without doing anything to them.

What is your occupation?

I’m a scientist - a radio astronomer to be more precise. You can basically think of me as Zane Zaminski, except I spend my time tracking down supernovae rather then alien signals. If you look for alien signals, you might find one, like Zane did. And how’d that work out for him?

Yuroun is the artist name of Jeroen van Rooij, a New Age producer and sound designer from the Netherlands. Yuroun is well known for his Alchemy sounds. He delivered sounds for Camel Audio’s soundsets: Planet Earth, Cinematic Atmospheres, Cinematic Impacts, Arp Dimensions, Dubstep and Electronic Bass and he has some real treats on Sampleism

Jeroen is 43 years old and hails from Tilburg in the Netherlands. He’s a real nice guy and has a passion for music especially New Age music. We are very happy to see him adding some of his creative work to Sampleism and hope to see more of his kits in the future.

In 2008 hid dad died at the age of 81. It’s a nice age to die, but he died pretty quick and unexpected in the hospital. As a form of therapy Jeroen made a little track for him. He loved Vangelis’ Conquest of Paradise and so Jeroen used a similar choir in his tribute track

Sampleism Developer Competition

Hello,

Sampleism is running a competition and we want you to get involved. Sampleism enables musicians and developers to set up a quick and easy online shop to sell their own Sample Collections, Instruments, Patches and Loops. Anybody can upload and sell unique content and earn some extra kudos and cash.

The concept is simple but very effective. Here’s the process you need to follow in order to make a submission.

The Process

1. Create an account
Go to Sampleism and login using an existing social network ID to create a free account.

2. Edit your details
Give yourself an Engineer name, tagline, avatar and brief description to complete your registration. You don’t have to be detailed here but it will help us to identify you when we start judging the entries.

3. Upload
Upload your best user-created Sample Library, Sampler Instrument, Loop-Pack or Patch Bank. Any format or genre is accepted but try to make it as creative as possible. All uploads must be contained in .zip files. The maximum size for the .zip file is 500MB.

4. Connect with Soundcloud
Upload a collection of demonstration files to Soundcloud and link your Sampleism account with Soundcloud to embed the files.

5. Complete the entry
Flick the ‘hidden’ switch to make the Kit visible to the public on Sampleism.

6. Let us know
Email us at: competition@sampleism.com and tell us your producer name and the name of the kit you are entering so we know who you are.

The Deadline:

All entries must be online and registered with us on or before 1st December. We will then spend a week judging the entries and the winners will be announced on 8th December.

The Prizes:

Oh Yes!

Sampleism allows you to host your demo files on Soundcloud.

This gives you maximum flexibility and marketing potential when storing and showcasing the demos of your kits and it couldn’t be easier.
Those of you who are familiar with Soundcloud will find this a breeze.

If you have more than one demonstration file that you want to showcase you can combine them in a Soundcloud set first.

The process is simple - Go to your profile by clicking your name at the top of the screen and click the Soundcloud Connect button.

The connect dialog box will appear - Enter your Soundcloud login details or create an account if you don’t already have one (it’s free!)

You will then return to Sampleism and your connection will be established.

Now - when you got to upload a new kit or edit an existing one you will be able to select a Soundcloud Track or Set to associate with the kit.

Easy!

Now you have the power of Soundcloud to help promote your Sample Libraries!

Sampleism - Become a Developer and Sell your Sounds

So, you want to become a developer and start selling on Sampleism? Well, here’s how to do it:

Logging in
First you will need to login. You can do this very easily by using any existing social network ID you may have. If you don’t have a social network ID you can use OpenID.

Creating your Profile
Once you are logged in you can update your profile. Add your Developer Name and a tag line (brief description). Press return to save the changes. Enter your email address if you want to receive the newsletter. You can also connect your Sampleism profile with your Soundcloud profile to select tracks you have stored on Soundcloud to use as demo players (more on this in another tutorial)

Now update your identity by adding a bit of information about yourself and upload an image to associate with your store or embed a video. Give yourself a unique url so people can directly access your Sampleism Page.

Uploading your first Collection

If you are logged in you will see an upload button at the top of the page next to your name. Click it to trigger a new kit upload.
Enter a Name, Tag line and Description for the new kit. Add a price and select the file you want to upload. We allow Zip files to be uploaded so please compress your kit in all its formats into one Zip before uploading. It may take a while for large Zip file to upload so be patient and don’t close your browser. Again, you can associate an image or embed with the kit and give it a unique url.

Now start tagging your kit. Tick all the formats that the kit is available in (ensure your Zip file contains all the formats you select). Tick the genres and add your own custom Tags. You can also upload a small teaser kit if you want your customers to preview some sounds before they buy.

Finally, and this is important, your kit will not be visible until you switch the ‘hidden’ button at the top of the page. Once you are completely happy flick the switch so it reads ‘public’ - This will make the kit instantly visible to the public. If, in the future, you want to do further editing you can simply flick the switch back to ‘hidden’ until you have made the changes.

Well, there we go. What are you waiting for? Get uploading!

Sampleism - How to search for samples

We have tried to make searching for sounds and kits on Sampleism as easy as possible. As the library grows you are going to need to know your way around in order to track down what you are looking for.

The easiest way to browse is simply to visit the homepage and start paging through the latest uploads but if you want to find something more specific here are a few tips.

1. The Search Box
Well - everybody knows how to use one of these. Type something in and click go to see what goodness you can find.

2. Developer / Engineer Lists
If you are looking for a particular developer or simply want to browse around the various stores, developers and sound designers on Sampleism you can click the ‘engineer’ link.

Clicking on a particular developer’s name will take you to their profile page where you’ll find out more about them and a list of all the content they have made available:

3. Tags
If you are looking for something that fits a particular genre or specific format then use the tags at the bottom of the page to dig deeper:

Custom tags are also assignable to kits so use these to expand your search:

On the kit page you can also preview all the files contained in the kit download. Click the small bar below to expand the list.

4. Previews
Once you’ve found something tasty some kits have a free preview download so you can test out a free sample of the kit before you buy (you have to be signed in to download previews) or you can just click the ‘add to cart’ button to buy it.

Sampleism - We have launched!

We’ve done it!

Well, nearly! Sampleism has arrived - a brand new concept for Sound Designers, Samplers, Loop Makers, Producer Pack Developers, Patch Makers and Audio Masters to sell and promote their latest creations.

It’s pretty cool to have come this far and developed something truly unique, something that will empower developers to reach a bigger audience.

Major props and respect go out to Anthony for his talent, dedication and immense skill for making this happen.

On launch day we had 20 ultra-cool Beta developers enrolled on the site to help test the load and upload content. What these guys develop is truly unique and we are proud to offer them an outlet for their libraries and sounds. In total they have uploaded 79 incredible and varied sample packs and we are immensely thankful.

Hey Samplists!

In the first of a series of mini articles regarding some of the talented developers at Sampleism we are focusing our attention towards TD Samples.

TD Samples has been hard at work synthesizing some rather spectacular vocal collections of speech, phrases and language. He has managed to capture some very lifelike and expressive vocal samples and compiled them into some lovely packs of audio goodness for you.

SYNTHETIC SPEECH by tdmusicuk

Tim Donovan is a 47 year old professional composer from East Yorkshire in the UK. He spends his time composing but for fun he enjoys the finer things in life like synthesizing speech.

His first two collections on Sampleism concentrate on this niche but for future collections he has other plans which he would rather keep under wraps at the moment.

ENIGMATIC PHRASES by tdmusicuk

His sequencer of choice is Cubase 5 and he uses Audicity for the detailed editing required for his samples.

The inspiration for his most popular sample set ‘Enigmatic Phrases’ came from the sultry speech of Enigma’s ‘Sandra Cretu’
