My personal ranking is: 1. Up, 2. WALL-E, 3. The Incredibles, 4. Ratatouille, 5. Toy Story 2, 6. Monsters, Inc., and Cars at the last place. So I have almost the same taste as our readers. I think WALL-E may be better for repeated watching (I’ve seen it four times now), but Up blew me totally away when I was watching it for the first time.

My personal favorite is Over the Hedge, but Kung Fu Panda was also very entertaining and marvelously animated. I think Shrek 2 should have gotten even less votes. It was a decent movie, but lacked the soul of most other animated movies by Pixar or Dreamworks. Shark Tale was a major disappointment.

Our readers are really not into autobiographical comics or crime thrillers. I’m a bit surprised by the low number of votes for school-based comics considering the large number of readers that are still going to high-school. Fantasy proves once again to be a very popular topic for webcomics, even among the readership of a comic strip which certainly does not belong to this genre.

Sandra and Woo has a nice mixture of regular and new readers.

Concerning me personally, this behavior was not a real tick, but an occasionally self-imposed challenge to make particularly boring walks a little less boring. Which I eventually outgrew when my step width was becoming too big for the tiles of Nuremberg’s pavements.

I strongly prefer my volume controls (and any other control unit) to be set to multiples of 2 or 5, though.

Our readers preferred to read more stories about Cloud and Larisa. I’m sure they are happy with respect to the large amount of strips featuring these two characters that haven been published during the last months.

Our readers expressed great interest in merchandising articles, but the designs we came up with subsequently did apparently not suit their taste. (We sold a few t-shirts with the “Food Chain” artwork on it, but not much of anything else.)

Suprisingly, 60 % of our readers like story-based comics the most, and only 9 % gag-a-day strips. Since Sandra and Woo currently makes use of mostly unconnected short story arcs, the readers who expressed no preference are probably the happiest regarding the current state of the comic.

I think people who drew or still draw (web-)comics were more inclined to answer this poll. Nonetheless, the big amount of readers who expressed some interest in starting a webcomic of their own is surprising. Well, let’s just say that it’s a lot of work and most webcomics don’t live to see their first birthday…

Cloud and Larisa are very popular among our readers which also justified their recent promotion to main characters. Shadow got a surprising number of votes, though, considering the small amount of strips he appeared in.

This poll result clearly shows that the comment section is not always to be trusted. The story about Larisa’s “drug problem” was certainly the one that received the most negative comments of all these story arcs, but it also got by far the most votes as the best storyline up to this point.

I think it’s nice that even the least favorite story arc still got 7 % of all votes.

Sandra and Woo is certainly among the top 10 webcomics which started 2008 or later regarding its visitor numbers. Maybe we can even break 10,000 visits per day this year. I’m a bit skeptical, though, since December is usually a tough month because of all the holidays at its end.

We especially want to thank everybody who helps spreading the word about Sandra and Woo by mentioning it in forum posts or on link pages. We always get a couple of new visitors – and maybe regular readers – this way.
