All out of factual Apple-related content? That's okay, just speculate! There's always something to think about where a super-secretive&nbsp;company like Apple. Constantly being in the public eye doesn't hurt your word-count, either.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> I mentioned the links to my other Apple-related stuff because today, I too, will be speculating. About Siri *gasp*. I know it's been a while since her launch, but she&nbsp;hasn't&nbsp;crossed my mind much lately and I had my bi-monthly&nbsp;shower today, which is where I write this site's content.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> In an article I once wrote about Siri, I mentioned how I wish she would live on my iPhone and stop having to go to Apple's servers every time I ask her a question like <i>call mom. </i>Then it hit me (in the shower, so it was more of a soap-related concussion). Apple could have made Siri a home on the iPhone itself and only made her go to their servers when we ask things like "<a href="http://www.sanelythinking.com/2009/06/how-to-die-manliest-of-deaths.html">how do I die a manly death?</a>". At first I thought that Apple is just a lonely parent who's kids don't call as often as they should, so they made it so Siri had no choice but to call over 9,000 times a day. I quickly dismissed that theory, but not the part about Siri constantly going back to Apple. What with the emails and the iCloud and the HD porn. It certainly puts a pretty penny in the carrier's pockets and even more-so when people go over their pre-chosen data limit. I'm not here to discuss payment-plans and other such business nonsense, but what I will say is that not everyone uses the internet from their iPhone, such as old people or moms. What they <i>would</i> do, though, is use Siri. Tell me this Siri, tie my shoelaces, Siri. So on...</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> Can anyone tell me how Siri communicates with Apple's servers? Through the Internet, of-course! An internet connection some previously mentioned people wouldn't need if it&nbsp;weren't for Siri. See it now, people! Siri was invented only to con people into paying for an internet connection on their phone, one that otherwise would not have&nbsp;existed&nbsp;for some people. Sure, Apple isn't directly paid because of this, but the carriers are! And guess who has direct lines to the carriers. Apple! It all fits now, people. Easy. Cracked.com. Have you seen this guy? The last one "go mad for a couple grams" talks about her life having no meaning the drugs make her go wild, even for a small amount. Sometimes games that I think are deserving don't even get a mention, and other times games that clearly deserve to win, clearly don't. More specifically, games. This time, we talk about other things, but we stay on the topic of games and game related things - because I sure as hell don't care if my console can stream Netflix. </div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> A big thing people talk about when they talk about the Xbox's superiority is the online functionality, Xbox Live. Honestly, i don't see the difference between this and PSN. Both services allow you to play online with your friends and voice chat at the same time. Granted, Xbox Live has cross-game voice chat, but then again, the PlayStation network is free for everyone to use. I don't know about you, but free stuff always beats out listening to 12-year-olds scream into my ear for three hours. Maybe it's just me. PSN now has a paid version of their service, but it's more like PSN Premium - It offers game discounts and automatic cloud syncing of saved games. What it doesn't do, is force you to pay a rediculus amount (read: &gt;$0) for something that should be free in the first place. </div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> Kinect is also supposed to be a big selling point for the Xbox, but from what I can see, Kinect is nothing but a Dance Central/Crappy Minigame Collection machine. What Kinect is designed to compete with, in the field of Motion Games, is PlayStation Move. The best way to describe the Move is "Wii HD". The Move can be played with 1/2 wand controllers (like a Wiimote) or a wand/thumbstick controller combo (like a Wiimote + Nunchuck). This means there are so many more games that are playable with the Move vs the Kinect (that are actually worth playing). RPGs and Shooters are both massive franchises right now. It is 110% possible to play these with the Move. Killzone 3 features this functionality. Kinect? Sorry chump, It's Dance Central, Child of Eden or nothing for you. </div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> Don't get me wrong, the Kinect is a great piece of hardware, filled with all sorts of gizmos and sensors. Roughly translates to "The Best Game on the Best Console". Truly, the PS3 is the greatest games console to ever grace this planet (this generation, anyway). I don't really understand what all the Xbox 360 fanboys are on about. "The Xbox is clearly superior!". If, one day, I want to play that pathetic excuse for a shooter, Halo, or if I want to play that shoozefest of a shooter, Gears of War, or those other Xbox exclusives, Fable, Alan Wake and Forza, I will play an Xbox. Also, when I want to look like a dickhead playing half-arsed Kinect games, I'll knock on Microsoft's door.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> On the other hand, I will head over to the PlayStation 3 to play games like; Uncharted, Killzone, Ratchet and Clank, inFamous, Motorstorm, Buzz, Resistance, God of War, Gran Turismo, Heavenly Sword, Heavy Rain, Little Big Planet, Ninja Gaiden, SingStar, MAG and Sly Cooper. Notice the difference? The games that are exclusive (avaliable for that console) to the Xbox 360 is a small selection. Two shooters, an RPG, a racer (circut) and a horror adventure. </div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> Meanwhile, the PS3 has a wide selection; Shooters, Racers (on and off-road), platformers, Beat-Em Ups, Action/Adventures, Music Games and Party Games. If the handful of Xbox 360 exclusives were the only games I was interested in, I would go for the Xbox, but there are other games out there. Games that the Xbox simply doesn't have. Microsoft frequently tries to out-do Sony by getting timed exclusives, like having new map-packs avaliable on COD thirty days earlier than the Sony guys. Lets get something straight. No only am I getting some crappy map-pack exclusive for spending my hard-earned money on your console, but it's not really exclusive? I just get it a month or two before my friends. Who gives a fuck?! Give me something that the other guys will NEVER get! Give me a new game mode, hell, even a new WEAPON on COD that my PS3 friends won't have, but a non-exclusive map-pack? Don't get me wrong, I love multiplayer, too, but something about a great single-player campaign makes me want to keep going through to the end. I&nbsp;hardly&nbsp;ever even touch the multiplayer until I've gone through the single-player mode. It's just how I was raised. I'm a Battlefield man at heart, but the single-player campaign in Call of Duty: Black-Ops blew my mind!</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> On the flip side, some people out there don't even touch the single-player mode and go straight for the multiplayer, even in games like Grand Theft Auto, where the story missions are half the fun. It's so sad that devs spend so much time and effort to craft a great single-player experience and some people just fuck it off altogether. The reason behind this is simple, money. You see, four player local multiplayer on a $60 game means that only one copy is bought ($60) and paid for between four people. When online multiplayer is the only option for dour people to play together, all four people must buy a copy of the game each ($240). We crave the company of other people, more than just some twelve-year-old screaming profanities into a headset. The Wii's online multiplayer component left something to be desired, but it was the local multiplayer that really shines. Notice that Super Smash Bros. Brawl is on that list. Lots of drunken, four-player lasughs to be had there. Motorstorm was released a year&nbsp;earlier with&nbsp;no local multiplayer, only online. What were they thinking? I have no doubt that that decision hurt the game's sales. Given the choice, I would rather play games like God of War, Grand Theft Auto, Need for Speed and Street Fighter on consoles, because they are simply better for those types of games. Consoles are great for games that don't much rely on thumbsticks as much as they do face bottons. Could you imagine playing Street Fighter using a keyboard? You could never get the speed and contol that a keyboard and mouse combo gives you. RTS and FPS plays better on PCs because they require very quick response times. You could argue that FPS plays fine using two thumbsticks, but that's because you have never played a PC FPS. The best way to explain it, is to tell you to go a your PC and play the original Halo. I almost wrote "solid contenders" right there, but then I remembered that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is one of them. The other one, ofcourse, is Battlefield 3. The winner of this award wasn't who I expected to win, given the things the announcer said about the other games. It certainly deserves to be in the top five, but I don't think it deserved to win. I know about Tekken and Street Fighter and Super Smash Bros, and I've only played two of those. Tekken was my first fighter and I don't have many problems with it, but it's nothing special, either. I mean, it's okay to bring out when you have four or five friends over and two of them could duke it out while others converse or watch or whatever (then you switch), but to me, that's all it's good for, really. RPG, Racing, Shooters, Arcade Games, Beat 'em Ups, whatever. We love it all. Tough sometimes, a stand alone game just isn't enough. We neeed more! And I don't mean that crappy skin you got for your Street Fighter IV character. We demend an extra game to go ontop of the game we already have! An extra game that adds new levels and new missions and whole new ways to play.&nbsp;Lots of games have expansions and every genre can get them. One or two expansions are find, but some games go overboard.&nbsp;</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> The Sims is the first thing that comes to mind. Every "Sims" game that has been made (thre so far) has had exactly eight expansions. Every time. It has become predictable now. If you want a new "sims" game, just wait until they make eight expansions. You have to buy them all too! I don't mind paying since they aren't usually full price, it's just a hassle to buy and install the new one each time. I think that when it gets released, there should be two pricing options. The regular game for the regular price, and then the (game + expansions) price. The second one would be priced at $200-$300 and come with a code that you enter when you install it. </div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> Every time a new expansion gets released, it gets downloaded automatically for free. This is all well and good, but it does raise some questions about piracy - even on the PS3. I don't own an Xbox 360 so I can't comment. </div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> I download lots of full fledged games for my PS3, games which my friends want to play but are too cheap to buy themselves, so we have a system. I have an account on each one of their PS3s that is automatically logged into my PSN account when it starts up. When I download a new game, my friend/s go on my "recently download" list on the PSN store using my PSN account and download that title to their own PS3. There you go, now all of my friends and I have this game and I'm the only one who paid! </div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> Hold on one moment, this sounds like it only benifits them. No matter, next time, I will collect a tener from each of them, that'll be fair for everyone. Plus, last week I shat in a mailbox, so it's all good.
