And the winner is...

Dear friends, we are happy to inform you that on Sunday the 19^th March 2011, Sangkheum FC boys’ team won the Globalteer Junior Soccer League 2011, Under 15 age.

The soccer League started in January and since the beginning the boys’ team won 8 matches out of 9. In the final game against the team of “Grace House Community Centre” they won 5:3.

Congratulations to our children!

Valentine’s Day at the Sangkheum Centre

On February 14^th the children celebrated Valentine’s Day. Whilst listening to music much fun was had cutting, sticking nd coloring to make and decorate Valentine’s cards to give to friends. Mid-afternoon the children were joined by a party of visitors and the cards were given out to lucky recipients! Yummy cup-cakes and cold drinks followed. As you can see from the photos, everyone at the Sangkheum Centre thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Healthy Bodies and Bright Smiles at the Sangkheum Center

A group of Australian volunteers visited the Sangkheum Center this week to talk to the children about current practices in good health. The children took part in a range of practical activities that had them brushing their teeth correctly, washing their hands, bandaging simple wounds and cleaning minor cuts. The children were also very good at answering questions about what they should do if they encounter snakes and stray dogs.

Hello everybody!

We are happy to announce that this year our U15 Football Team is participating in the Siem Reap Junior Soccer League.

The League started on the 9^th of January and will finish on the 27^th of March.

Our team has already won two out of two matches!

We have a new online donation page at Virgin Money Giving - this replaces our old page at JustGiving.

The new page includes photos, latest tweets and updates from Sangkheum Center for Children. We hope you like it, and we're sorry for any problems you may have had trying to donate through the old page.

Why did we change the donation page?

Our friends Globalteer are continuing to help us by providing a donation page on our behalf - and the new page allows us to collect more money from each donation. Supporters in the UK can also still increase the value of donations through Gift Aid, and supporters all over the world can still donate online with a credit or debit card.

As one door closes another one opens!

Dear friends, although our boys tried their best to win the contest organized by the SOS Children’s Villages International, they could do nothing against the giant players of two other schools!

It was very hard for the other teams to beat ours, but unfortunately we lost 2 matches out of 4 and we could not go to the finals.

But we still have our girls’ team playing in Phnom Penh in January. Let’s cross our fingers for them!

On the 5^th of December we will start the traditional Khmer Dance competition. Every Sunday our children receive training from a professional dancer. They are very proud of their skills and they will be very happy to show their bravura at the contest.
