Mathis Künzler in Liechtenstein Schaan Takino, 2008-09-24, Dinosaurs Forever

Le spectacle a pris place dans le Takino, un cool petit théâtre de cent places. Hélas pas complet, mais cette fois presque tout le public étaient des enfants, à environs 10 ans. Ils étaient déjà complètement excités et allègres en arrivant, et étaient de loin le public le plus vif et enthousiaste que j'ai jamais vu!

La représentation super comme toujours, vif et plein d'énergie, et après, à notre surprise et grand plaisir, il y avait même encore une "discussion avec le public"! Les trois acteurs discutant un peu avec les élèves, et après céla on était même gâté encore plus avec des autographes et photos! Mathis, Thomas et Markus tous de super humeur, et les quelques fans venues de loin étaient aux anges :-))

(Sorry, no translation, would lose all the poetry. It's a lovely message from a fan-artist thanking another for a new work, sharing her love and philosophing a bit about how fulfilling the universe of arts and acting can be :-)

J'adore et depuis une demi-année je voulais poster ce message d'une fan à une autre, qui lui remercie de sa nouvelle créa video. Enfin, voilà. Elle exprime si génialement ses émotions, et je pense que ca reflète aussi les motivations de beaucoup d'autres fans créatives, qui nous font de si magnifiques music-vids, fanfics, bannières et autre. Merci à tous :-)

Et merci à vous deux pour tous vos bijoux, et pour la permission de poster ce ptit message ici!
Oh, et à propos, je dois ajouter encore un grand merci à notre 'inspirateur' de tous ces créas, Mathis, qui est pratiquement au coeur de tout ca! :-)) Ok j'arrête enfin, LOL!

The family dynastie "von Rheinberg" is rich and powerful since generations, due to their huge bank company in Frankfurt. Big Boss is Markus von Rheinberg. His wife and the three grown-up children don't suspect how ruthlessly he fights behind the scenes, if his family or company is concerned. Because since generations is valid: Where money plays a role, one cannot afford feelings. When the power is in danger, love is worth nothing.
The life on the sunny side is fundamentally shaken by Markus' unloved sister Mona, who 30 years ago turned her back to the family, and wasn't missed: At the side of her ambitious daughter Ariane Mona returns to Frankfurt. The carefully build family facade starts crumbling mightily...

La dynastie de famille "von Rheinberg" est riche et puissante depuis des generations, par leur grande banque à Frankfurt. Big Boss est Markus von Rheinberg. Sa femme et les trois enfants adults ne se doutent pas que derriere les coulisses il lutte sans aucune scrupule s'il s'agit de son entreprise ou sa famille. Car depuis des generations il vaut: Où l'argent joue une role, on ne peut pas se permettre des sentiments. Quand le pouvoir est en danger, l'amour ne vaut rien.
La vie sur le côté ensoleillé est ebranlée au fondement par Mona, la mal-aimée soeur de Markus, qui tournait le dos à la famille ca fait 30 ans et qui n'avait pas manqué: Aux côtés de sa fille ambitieuse Ariane, Mona retourne à Frankfurt. L'apparente façade de la famille, construit soigneusement, commencé à s'effriter enormement....

Pity, not a word about Mathis/Frida in all those interviews, he's only seen some seconds in the background :-( ("Backstage"+"Nils")
But the good news is, it sounds like the film will come out on DVD! :-)

The videos are german, but there are "translations" on the site. Alas, some parts of it are freely invented, I'm afraid the (native italien?) translator had some problems to fully understand what is said... So I say Thanx for the interesting interviews, but as for the translation decided to give it a shot myself, starting from scratch without comparing with the site again, so here's now the maybe bumpy but much more literal Sanna-translation (native german, and hoping they wont kill me for putting so much here) ;-)

"....the television, as one of the most important partners, then the Ministry of Culture, plus the city of Zürich here, with its Film Foundation. The Film Foundation said from the beginning: NYET. "Such un obscene, perverse project we do not want to subsidize." But then, due to our successes in the last years, with "Fräulein" and "Snow White", we had a lot of "reference money", and that money has now flown into that movie. So, indirectly, the Zürich Film Foundation has also funded the movie..."

Tunje Berns (producer):
"Last year I took part in the EAVE Producers Training Program. There, just in the first week, I first met the Luxembourgers, und by chance also this producer, who's taking part now. He got the book from me, and meant right away: "I want to join this!" (....)"

Samir (producer):
"The important thing was to see, that actually the DVD-Distribution were the first to join. It was quite obvious that they realized the potential in this theme. And I must say, it's right that way, since by now with several movies that we released, we actually made disproportionately high distribution numbers on the DVD-market, with our niche-programs, compared to the cinema. We really have a good position there. "

Dommage, pas un mot de Mathis/Frida dans tous ces interviews, on le voit seulement quelques secondes en arriere-plan :-( ("Backstage"+"Nils")
Mais la bonne nouvelle c'est: Ca sonne comme on aura le film aussi sur DVD!
Samir dit qu'une compagnie de DVDs etait la premiere à joindre le projet. Que c'est evident qu'ils ont vu le potential dans ce theme, et il trouve ca correcte, car quelques autres de ses projets ont déjà eu bien plus de succes sur DVD que dans les cinemas.
Il dit aussi que la television est aussi parmi les financiers, ainsi que, involontairement, la Fondation de Film à Zurich, qui depuis le debut ont refusé de soutenir "un film si obscene et pervers", mais par quelques "fonds de reference" qui restaient encore de son succes passé, et qui sont dans ce film maintenant, alors la fondation l'a "indirectement" financié aussi.

Schade, kein einziges Wort über Mathis/Frida in den ganzen Interviews, man sieht ihn nur mal ganz kurz im Hintergrund :-( ("Backstage"+"Nils")
Aber die gute Nachricht ist: Es scheint, der Film kommt auch auf DVD raus!
Samir: "Also wichtig war zu sehen, dass eigentlich die DVD-Vertrieb als erste eingestiegen sind. Das war ganz offensichtlich, dass sie das Potential bei diesem Thema gesehen haben. Und ich muss sagen, das ist auch korrekt so, weil wir haben jetzt mit mehreren Filmen, die wir herausgebracht haben, eigentlich unverhältnismäßig hohe Distributionszahlen gemacht auf dem DVD-Markt, mit unseren Nischen-Programmen, im Verhältnis zum Kino."
Das Fernsehen ist auch mit im Boot, sowie -unfreiwillig- die Zürcher Filmstiftung: "Die Filmstiftung hat von Anfang an gesagt: NYET. "So ein obszönes, perverses Projekt wollen wir nicht unterstützen." Dann hatten wir aber durch unsere Erfolge in den letzten Jahren sehr viele Referenzgelder, und die sind jetzt in diesen Film hineingeflossen. Also hat die Filmstiftung Zürich indirekt auch den Film finanziert..."

Carla Lia Monti (director and writer):
I come from the fine arts, have always had the same topics, since 10-20 years, and it's a continuing development. There's not one idea that occured just so (snap!). Well, from the first idea, in my mind, up to this shooting day, there have passed about 5½-6 years now. It's got nothing at all to do with history or such, I don't pretend any historical claims here. The costumes are about 300-400 years now, altogether, but they don't fit together in the least. The point is just that I'm creating an own cosmos, an own world, where the characters inside fonction with a naturalness.
Well, what it's about, I'm making some sort of fable, where you gain some distance. That one doesn't just recognize himself one-to-one, just like in a fable where there are animals, the sly fox, the dumb donkey, in which you recognize the neighbor or other people, and that's why I've created an own cosmos, to gain a certain distance.
And I have a wonderful crew, I've wonderful actors, we have a great mood on the set, which can't be taken for granted normally, and so we've been able to create pictures where there's a jewel in every picture, where you notice there's a love there, for this design, and in the movie you can feel it.

Enzo Brandner (camera):
The basic idea is that it's just a rather high gloss concept, optically, and regarding content complete trash. From these contrasts the movie shall also live. From balancing the thin line between esthetics, bloodiness, and also comic elements. That's also how the actors were selected, e.g. two cabaret artists, who in a way, even when playing a raping scene, it's all simply drawn into a comic direction again. (..tech talk..) The movie is shot very lively, and has huge dynamics, there are wide total shots, und there are many close-ups. So those TV-medium-shots, we actually omit those almost completely.

Nils Althaus (leading actor, "Josef", Emily's lover):
I've made a lot with the music, I also wrote the lyrics, that is my lyrics, which I'm singing. Just quite simplistic pop-lyrics, coming right from the heart, that's what he shall sing. The robber girls, that's some kind of pot, of all the yearnings that a woman can have, but which she never fulfills. All those women come into this pot, and together do all the things they've always wanted to do, well, shoot around, rape men, rob out, cut genitals...
Some other robber girls from her gang find me, and take me into their cave, and then I'm actually abused, as a living inflatable doll, get infused vi@gra, and then... every robber girl wants her turn as well...
And then Emily arrives, and then is... So, we're finding each other again, but of course then she's disappointed, that I 'supposedly' had betrayed her, with other women. Without that being my own fault there, but that of the robber girls.
This complete craziness that's simply something that I loved, that someone simply takes the freedom to say, the bard I make the bard now, and the evil robber I make ONLY the evil robber, just really taking this freedom, that's something I admire! That's why I've accepted. All the staging is so over the top, that I've really.. I've never seen anything like this on the big screen.

Nina Bühlmann (leading actress, "Emily", poor daughter turned robber)
(....) Carla had again a detailed idea of how she wanted Emily to be, but as said before, there's also a lot of myself in her. On one hand I'm the rather fine girl, who sometimes is afraid, and doesn't always quite know where to go and what to do, but who on the other hand also has that boyish side, or the powerful, to just smash into, or to take a pumpgun and shoot around. It's just those two sides that were most important to her. On one hand the natural girl, and on the other the strong woman, the same with Emily.
I don't even know if she does this really consciously, but she has that way of giving to women those roles that in everyday life usually get assigned to men. Like my character, Emily, who suddenly becomes a heroine and rescues people, goes searching for my lover, what usually is done the classic way by the guy. And the other women roles as well often are actually men roles, and also, that you suddenly mutate into a robber, that's not necessarily exactly how you know women. And that's great, it makes... That's really the fun in it, to just show the strong woman for a change. That's great.

Alexandra Prusa (actress, "evil mother")
(....) I really had problems to develop that character. In fact that was rather difficult for me. It was first planned to start in autumn, and at the time I was still working with the musiciens, since no one knew yet if the "evil ones" would also be allowed to sing. So I created some lyrics myself, which then... have me accompanied in a sense, well I've (written)... "I had emotions and have it unlearned, I could see and have it unlearned, I could feel, I have it unlearned, I don't know anymore, where's it gone?" Well, if you read Uehlebeck (?), or so the quite modern urban person, well he's sometimes not far off from this character study that I'm now *trying* here!
Especially the scene that I shot today, that's... There I thought, this is perhaps the only really emotional... the only time when she's showing an emotion for a moment. Just herself alone of course. But what's beautiful, what I find enchanting, and that you really have to see in this movie: Carla is a great paintress! I think. And her picture language is gorgeous, and I think that will contribute just as much as the story. There we can really look forward to something very colorful, very rich.

Hans-Peter Ulli (actor, "evil bishop")
(...) In his greed, wanting more and more, he knows no limits. (...) It's actually the permanent search for happiness and satisfaction, mentally, but that doesn't work and so he takes it through all those physical things. And this makes this character exciting to me, to have a look what's that about, being a hedonist? The opportunity to tell this through a fairy tale puts that thing into some meta-level, which allows us, as actors, and also the director, to do things that you otherwise couldn't do. But I think otherwise this would just be half a p*rn, or a brutalo-movie, being so endlessly awfully boring that I'd say forget it. But through that fairy-tale design you have of course every chance to exaggerate without limit, over the top, distort things, and we hope the viewer will make in his mind the connection to today's reality. And if we reach this, then we've got exactly what we want.

Attention, german Mathis-Forum

The end of an era?

"The" big german Mathis-Forum is closing!

Next Monday already :-((

I was rather shocked to hear this a few days ago, although it didn't come completely unexpected. Many of the members felt at home there, and the admin Nina did a great job and worked very hard to create and update an orderly collection of everything, but it's long since known that RealLife hit and left her absolutely no free time anymore. She tried very very long to still keep it up, but no chance it seems. And I'm afraid, her #1 Mathis-FanSite could vanish too, but no idea :-( This concerns the forum at teardrops and possibly mathis-kuenzler/david-seidel.net.tc

Of course the members and mods want to continue, there is already a temporary new forum, and in a couple weeks all will move again into another, final NEW FORUM. No prob for present and future Mathis-stuff, but alas no one seems to know at this point how much from the old topics can possibly be transferred, and Nina is 'almost' as hard to reach as MK :-P So meanwhile Michi and a few others are already working like crazy to rescue as much as possible.

But the disaster is that (as far as I know), this is the last big forum from our great "Verliebt in Berlin" era! The two other major ones, Sat1 and vibfan, are already deleted long since, and especially vibfan and the Sat1-videos were a huge loss, as well as some great fan sites. But now what will remain? If all the major contemporary sources with all the great discussions and lots of exciting fan stuff have vanished from the web, it will almost be as if all that ViB hype never happened This was the last of the main forums that contained our ViB- and Mathis-history of the time, in all details, was also a great archive for researching stuff, alas the last one left. Where shall one look now to figure out what happened when and how exactly, and what the fans thought about it at the time?
The Mathis-media stuff will surely make the move, and there are a few other, smaller ViB-forums, or specialized ones (like fanfic), or rather young ones (Alex-forum started only a few weeks before the end of ViB1), but much much past information may survive now only on a few private fan computers :-(

Sorry, I'm having the blues at the moment, although there's still a bit hope to transfer the complete old forum... And of course this is all just my personal opinion, and must admit I'm rather clueless about the Rokko-Cortez-fandom, but sorry, don't feel like searching around there ;-)

Mathis: Non, non je dois étudier.

Mathis: Biologie.
Marc: Ah oui. C'est sûrement fascinant, non? Avec cette théorie darwinienne de l'évolution, je veux dire, j'en avais réfléchi un moment: Une centaine d'années auparavant, ce truc a vraiment fait bien plus de sense encore, car là les gens ont donc eu moins à manger...
Mathis: Heu... Comprends-moi bien. Pour moi c'était plutôt qc de spontané. Et je ne suis justement pas autant un homme qu'on peut avoir pour des histoires à plus longs termes. Dans le hypermarché tu as donc prouvé que le spontané c'est ton truc aussi, non.

C'est donc un peu bizarre, si tout à coup on réfléchit, "eh bien, je ne suis pas encore vraiment parfait comme femme", et alors on commence à étudier ses petites zones problématiques etc. C'est donc intéressant comme ça se passe vite.

Alors, j'ai perdu un peu de poids pour le rôle, et maintenant c'est mis en valeur. Environ quatre kilos.

Mathis: Oui parfait, je m'y suis déjà vraiment fait. Non, c'est bien, et naturellement, quand je porte tous ces corsets machins, ça aide aussi. Et peu à peu tous mes gestes deviennent plus féminins, alors, je suis juste en train de m'échauffer.

Aargh, I'm really not up-to-date anymore on non-Mathis-stuff, and now I'm hearing from other fans that since some weeks already those cool little "Verliebt in Berlin"- BACKSTAGE videos are aired again!! With the Making-Of, little interviews etc. Most are as bonus on the german ViB-DVDs, but not all I think. And by now most are probably already over, could kick myself :-(

It's on a very very tiny german channel, they are airing two episodes ViB per day, and those little backstage clips are aired just before each episode.
(At the moment they are at about ep 180 of ViB on this channel. 5x2 eps per week, and only the first six are re-aired at the weekends, it seems...)

The channel is normally called "9live", but during VIB the name changes into "neunTV"

Mittwoch-Nacht (7. Mai) endeten die Dreharbeiten des schweizer Teils von RÄUBERINNEN. In der Villa Pathumba in Zürich wurde das Ende des Filmes gefilmt, in welchem die Räuberinnen-Bande mit einer grossen Tanzeinlage ihren Sieg über die Bösewichte feiern.
Alle Bösewichter nahmen mit viel Lust als Zuschauer teil, u.a. die «Böse Mutter». Daneben unterhielten sich die beiden Räuber Hermann und Fritz mit abgeschlagenen Köpfen über die Vorzüge der Weiblichkeit.

Nächste Woche beginnt der zweite Teil der Dreharbeiten in Luxemburg, bis zum 1. Juni 2008.

Der Film kommt nächsten Winter in die Kinos.

Mecredi nuit (mai 7) le tournage de la suisse partie de FILLES BRIGANDES etait fini. Dans la Villa Pathumba en Zürich la fin du film etait tournée, dans laquelle la bande de brigandes fêtent avec une grande danse danse leur victoire sur les méchants.
Tous les méchants prenaient part comme spectateurs, avec beaucoup de plaisir, entre autre la "méchante mère". En outre les deux brigands Hermann et Fritz discutaient (leurs têtes coupues) les qualités de la féminité.

La semaine suivante il commence la deuxième partie du tournage en Luxembourg, jusqu'au 1er Juin 2008.

Le film sera dans les cinemas l'hiver suivant.

Wednesday-Night (May-7) the shooting of the swiss part of ROBBER GIRLS was finished. In the Villa Pathumba in Zürich the end of the movie was shot, in which the robber gang celebrates with a big dance their victory over the evil ones.
All the evil ones took part as viewers, with much delight, among them the "evil mother". Also the two robbers Hermann and Fritz, discussing (with their heads cut) the virtues of femineity.

Next week starts the second part of the shooting, in Luxembourg, until June 1st 2008.

The movie will be in the cinemas next winter.

„Am allerallerschlimmsten ist das Korsett“, verrät Mathis Künzler (29) im EXPRESS. „Das Ding schnürt mir jedes Mal die Luft ab. Ein paar Mal wurde mir schon richtig schwindelig.“ Warum er sich das antut? Er muss! Denn in seinem neuen Film „Räuberinnen“ (wird gerade gedreht) spielt er eine waschechte Dragqueen.

Und das verlangt Mathis Künzler richtig viel ab: „Ich musste meine Körperhaltung ändern: Rücken gerade, Brust raus, weiblicher Gang.“ Auch das Laufen auf Stöckelschühchen ist nicht einfach. Der Familienpapa übte vor Drehstart mehrere Stunden am Tag, knickte mehrmals schmerzhaft um.

Nächstes Problem auf dem Weg zur Film-Transe: sein Gewicht. Also hungerte sich der Schweizer fünf Kilo von den Rippen: „Damit mir der Minirock auch steht.“ Endgültig zur Dragqueen wird der Schauspieler in der Maske: „Die längste die ich je hatte - über eine Stunde dauert das tägliche Schminken. Supernervig.“

Zürich - Smart. Soft. Beau. C'est comme nous connaissons Mathis Künzler de "Verliebt in Berlin" et "RIS - La langue des morts". Dans son nouveau film le Suisse se transforme dans un tantouse-frivole travesti. Ce qui n'est pas exactement facile pour lui... "

L'absolument super-pire c'est le corset", revèle Mathis Künzler (29) dans l'EXPRESS. "Ce truc me coupe le souffle chaque fois. Plusieurs fois j'etais dejà vraiment vertigineux." Pourquoi il subi cela? Il le doit! Car dans son nouveau film "Räuberinnen/Filles Brigandes" (en train d'être tourné) il joue un pur jus drag-queen.

Et ca exige abondamment de lui: "Je devais changer ma posture corporelle: Dos tout droit, poitrine dehors, allure feminine." En plus le marche sur des petits haut talons n'est pas facile. Avant le debut de tournage le papa de famille s'entrainait plusieurs heures par jour, plusieurs fois il se tordait le pied douloureusement.

Prochain probleme sur le chemin à travesti de film: son poid. Alors le Suisse s'affamait cinq kilos de ses côtes. "Afin que la minijupe m'aille donc bien." Finalement la transformation de l'acteur en drag-queen est completée dans le maquillage. "Le plus long que j'ai jamais eu - plus qu'une heure prend le maquillage journalier. Super-enervant."

He must! For in his new movie „Räuberinnen/Robber Girls“ (currently shooting) he plays a dyed-in-the-wool drag queen.

And this demands a real great deal of Mathis Künzler: „I had to change my posture: Back straight, breast out, feminine walk.“ Also walking on those little high heels isn't easy. The family daddy practiced several hours per day before shooting start, several times he painfully twisted his ankle.

Next problem on the way to movie-tranny: his weight. So the Swiss hungered five kilos off his rips. „So that the miniskirt suits me well after all.“ Finally the actor becomes a truly accomplished drag queen during the make-up: „The longest I ever had - over an hour takes the daily make-up. Super annoying.“
