Emerald Viewer Blocked, Emerald Is Dead Or Is It? Phoenix?
The Emerald Viewer, Second Life’s most popular Third Party Viewer, received its final nail on its coffin today when Linden Lab announced on their blog that it will be blocked from accessing the Second Life grid “as of 10am PT Wednesday, September 8, 2010″. For me, this announcement was not really that surprising. The Emerald Viewer Team already announced their own demise last week when everything simply blew up on their faces. They were not able to comply with Linden Lab’s requirements and, eventually, it destroyed them from the inside.

Really Cheap ::Mr. Murder:: Skins For Your Male Avatars in Second Life | Kabalyero
Today, I decided to get a new skin for my avatar in Second Life. I logged on to XstreetSL.com and searched the male skins category for skins that cost L$10 only. The result was very promising and all were very good for L$10. I browsed through the results and bought the first skin that I liked best and that was the ::Miss. Murder:: JOHNNNY BEE MALE SKIN part of the Mr. Murder skin line.

Crime in San Pablo City is Up

According to a Press Release on the Philippine Information Agency website dated September 6, 2010, crime incidences in San Pablo City from January to June 2010 had a significant increase specifically against properties and carnapping. Interestingly, they are attributing this to poverty and unemployment.

PNP San Pablo City Deputy Chief Anthony Gantang said, the station is prepared to counter the significant increase with their anti-criminality plan- more vigilant and visible police force and an enhanced partnership with the community.

This plan can be implemented through posting of checkpoint, police visibility and support from the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATS) and other force multipliers.

Police Supt. Ferdinand De Castro has recommended the following actions to control crimes that include activation of Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) for a fast response to hostage-taking situation, bank robbery, robbery-holdup and other high profile crimes; assigning of additional personnel to crime-prone areas; putting up of Police Community Precincts in Cluster Barangays, Kalinga Center for child offender; strengthening of coordination with all the barangays; campaign against loose firearms and training programs among investigation officers.

3 Stars and a Sun Blog
My home in Second Life, 3 Stars and a Sun, is currently located at ZI Ocean View, a region or sim owned by ZoHa Islands. Its land area is only 1024m2 and I’m paying ZoHa Islands a monthly rental fee of L$ 1,980 to use it. The land area is not very big and it also does not give me that much prims to build on it but it has enough prims for my shop and 7seas fishing area.

Like a Phoenix, LordGregGreg Back’s Emergence Viewer rose from the ashes of the once mighty Emerald Viewer to continue its reign over all Second Life Third Party Viewers. LOL! I think that’s a little too much but the Emergence Viewer really just the Emerald Viewer without the bad stuff in it.

As a simple builder in Second Life, I fell inlove with the Emerald Viewer because it gave me the tools I need to make my building in Second Life fast and easy but, unfortunately, a few of its developers felt that they were untouchable and used the Emerald Viewer for their own evil purposes. Their evil deeds forced Linden Lab to take actions against them and the result wasn’t pretty.
Linking to a Third Party Viewer Policy Compliant Viewer is Disgusting?
So, it seems that linking to a Third Party Viewer Policy Compliant viewer is disgusting? LOL! At least that is the sentiments of one individual. Last July, someone was posting comments with links to a site that sells illegal Second Life viewers. One of the illegal Second Life viewers being sold in that site was Second Life Popular Viewer. Of course, I did not buy the illegal Second Life viewer but it did give me an idea and that was to blog about it, Is this Second Life Popular Viewer?, but with a twist at the end.

Object is Missing from Database
Today, a customer informed me that an item she purchased would not rez and that she was getting an “object is missing from database” error message. I told her that it must be an asset server error and that she should try rezzing it again. She said she did try again and she was still getting the same error message. I asked her to hold on while I try to rez the item myself from my inventory. Unfortunately, the item didn’t rez for me as well.

A Visit to a Freebie Market in Second Life
Freebie markets, freebie dungeons, freebie malls, freebie warehouses, freebie islands and other freebie areas. There are hundreds of those in Second Life. In fact, I used to frequent many of them during my earlier days in Second Life. I can still remember digging through hundreds of freebies and taking, even trying out, as many as I can in this one particular freebie dungeon but that was more than three years ago.

Ascent Viewer, Another Third Party Viewer for Second Life
Ascent Viewer is a new Third Party Viewer for the virtual world of Second Life. If my understanding is correct, the Ascent Viewer is based on the Inertia Viewer, a non-TPV policy compliant viewer, by Hazim Gazov whose website, http://iheartanime.com, was a recent victim of a DDoS attack by the owner of Modular Systems and the Emerald Viewer. I learned about this viewer, Ascent Viewer, from a forum thread at SLUniverse where a link to Ascent Viewer’s website was posted.

BIR Tax School in San Pablo City?

Manila Bulletin reported that the Bureau of Internal Revenue is going to put up a school that will train and enhance the knowledge of revenue personnel on audit and collection jobs.

The report said that the establishment of the tax school has been approved by both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Initially, it will be established at the current BIR regional office which is here in San Pablo City and will be transferred later to Calamba City.

Sources said the school is similar to the Philippine National Police Academy in Silang, Cavite where future policemen are trained. They said tax schooling will be a prerequisite before an examiner is promoted or transferred to important posts. They added that the school will offer advance and masteral courses on taxation as many of the present examiners are either lawyers or certified public accoutants, or both.

It was gathered that members of the Association Southeast Asian Nations have their own tax academies to professionalize their revenue investigation and collection services.

One of my favorite things about the Sulyap Gallery Cafe is the innovative use of antiques, brandy barrels, and other historic pieces that make it feel as if you have been transported through time to a different place in history. In fact even the motto of the restaurant tells me that what they have done here is by intent, it is “A Taste of the Past”, and I can tell you with certainty, it is the kind of taste I hope to have more of in the future.

Construction Mishap Left 2 Dead and 7 Injured

ABS-CBNNews.com reported that 2 construction workers died while 7 got injured when a metal scaffolding collapsed at a construction site in San Pablo City, Laguna.

The 2 construction workers who died were identified as Benny Navarrete and Edgar Vasquez of SLT Construction Company. Those who got injured were Alvin Donor, Christian Ecleo, Alvin Anescal, Arnold Obsanga, Richard Vasquez, Salvador Mediado and Jerson Vidal. They were taken to Pagamutang PangMasa ng Laguna in San Pablo City.

According to the report, the accident happened at around 3:00 in the morning while the victims were fast asleep under the metal scaffolding when it collapsed.

SLT Construction Company is the contractor of the SM Mall which is being constructed in Barangay San Rafael, San Pablo City. Police have yet to get hold of or talk to any representative from the construction company, report said.

A Night Under Typhoon Basyang

Last night, Typhoon Basyang passed through some provinces in Luzon. One of those provinces is the province of Laguna where the City of San Pablo is located. According to the National Disaster Coordinating Council, Typhoon Basyang’s wind speed was at 120 kilometers per hour and it was moving west northwest at 22 kilometers per hour. Typhoon Signal Number 2 was raised in Laguna and other nearby provinces.

Here at home, the heavy rain and strong winds was felt around midnight and it continued until early morning. Power was cut off, as expected, around 1 or 2 am and was restored around 9 am. Today’s classes for both Elementary and High-School were canceled.

Typhoon Basyang will be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow morning.

Shootout In Soledad, 3 Killed

GMANews.tv reported that 3 robbery suspects were killed by San Pablo City Police in a shootout at Barangay Soledad here in San Pablo City.

Earlier, the robbery victim reported to the City Police Station that 3 men on a motorcycle robbed him of his cellular phone and cash worth PHP 1,000. Police Officers immediately responded to the report and caught up with the suspects in Barangay Soledad.

The encounter with the Police didn’t end too well for the suspects. All 3 ended up dead after engaging in a shootout.

Police Officers recovered from the suspects the robbery victim’s cellular phone and cash. Also, recovered from the suspects were two .38 caliber revolvers, a 12-gauge shotgun.

2 of the 3 suspects were identified by the Police as Randy Tolentino of Barangay Santa Monica, San Pablo City, and Joel Deo of Barangay San Antonio 2, San Pablo City. The third suspect is yet to be identified.

One of San Pablo City’s Most Wanted Caught

On July 7, 2010, PhilSTAR.com reported that one of the most wanted fugitives in San Pablo City, Laguna was recently nabbed by police during a manhunt operation.

Meloger Penaloza, 29, was arrested in his house at Brgy. Sta. Cruz, Putol, San Pablo City, last July 4 around 5:45 p.m. According to the Police, Penaloza is listed as sixth most wanted criminal in the city and he is wanted for murder.

The warrant of arrest for Penaloza’s capture was issued by Judge Zorayda Salcedo of the San Pablo City Regional Trial Court.

Penaloza is now currently detained at San Pablo City Police Station and the court has set his bail to PHP 200,000.

Join Milo’s 34th National Marathon In San Pablo City

This year’s 34th National Milo Marathon aims to raise 4,000 pairs of rubber shoes. These rubber shoes will be donated to various public schools in cities where the races will be held and San Pablo City is one of those cities.

Races will be conducted in Dagupan City (July 11), Baguio City (July 18),General Santos City (July 25), Davao City (August 29, Cebu City (September 5), Tagbilaran City (September 12), Dumaguete City (September 19), Iloilo City (September 26), Naga City (October 3), San Pablo City (October 10), Batangas City (October 17), Puerto Princesa (October 31), Tarlac City (November 7), Olongapo City (November 14), Butauan City (November 21) and (Cagayan de Oro City) on November 28). – Source: The Sports News Central

The race here in San Pablo City is scheduled on October 10, 2010 and its Starting Line is infront of the City Hall (it is also the Finish Line).
