We all know that SM San Pablo is already under construction and once it is finished it will be bringing in hundreds of jobs along with it. I’m sure many of you are already on the lookout for new openings and job listings. In fact, our friend Aradong has been posting job listings for SM San Pablo in the comment section of the post “SM San Pablo: Rumor or Fact?”

Today, while doing a little searching myself, I found out that there will be a Jobs Fair for SM Store Retail Affiliates on April 6 and 7, 2010. The Jobs Fair will be held in the PAMANA HALL, City Hall Compound from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Aradong also posted that there will be an earlier Jobs Fair on March 11 and 12, 2010.

Are Mailboxes Important?

I was doing my daily regular round of Entrecard dropping when I stumbled upon a blog post about decorative mailboxes. It seems that in countries like Canada and the US having mailboxes, residential mailboxes for private homes and commercial mailboxes for businesses, is a big deal. They even have websites where people can purchase mailboxes in various styles and designs.

I guess here at home, we don’t think too much of whether we need a mailbox or not for our house or home. I don’t see many homes that have them. Those homes that do have mailboxes, they kinda have it built into their gates and I don’t think they are being used either. I can say that mailboxes are not that widely used or common here in our country unlike in most western and modernized countries like Canada and the US.

The question now is, “Are mail boxes important?”

I guess the answer is, it depends on the place of your residence. If you live in a place where there are people who steal your mail then having a mailbox is important because it will keep your mail safe.

As for me, I don’t think anyone would steal my mail anyway. Why would they? The only mail I get are bills, bills and more bills. If mail thieves would like to pay them then they are more than welcome to steal them from me. Ha ha ha!

I just came upon this video on YouTube and it’s a video of a dance group from San Pablo City that competed in ABS-CBN’s Showtime last December 2, 2009.

Did they win? I have no idea.

South Luzon Expressway Extension (SLEX Sto. Tomas To Lucena)

I installed a simple forum and started a thread about the South Luzon Expressway Extension (SLEX Sto. Tomas To Lucena) project as requested by Keith but the forum requires people to register before they can post. I can turn off registration but all non-registered posters will be named as Guest and we don’t want that.

That is why, I have created this post so that people can discuss it without the need to register. Just use the comment form to post your opinions and views about this issue.

The photo pictured above was taken from the website of DPWH and it shows the current South Luzon Expressway Extension Project. From the picture we will see that they will be extending SLEX from Calamba to Sto. Tomas. The SLEX Extension from Sto. Tomas to Lucena is not yet in that particular image.

Will there be an Extension to Lucena?

Well, according to this article in Manila Standard Today titled Tollway takeover in 2010:

“According to him, around 1,000 to 1,500 employees will be hired once control was transferred to MATES. This include 24/7 toll operators and construction workers for the extension of SLEX from Sta. Rosa, Laguna, to Lucena.”

“Workers for the extension of SLEX from Sta. Rosa, Laguna to Lucena.” That to me is a confirmation that there will definitely be an SLEX Extension to Lucena. The question now is, will it pass through San Pablo City?

From the draft picture above of the extension to Lucena we will see that it will be very close to San Pablo City unlike Alminos and Candelaria which are both right in the middle of it.

In this version, the Extension kinda curved around the edge of San Pablo City (see the dotted lines and the border near Atisan). Are they avoiding us? Ha ha ha! I hope not!

Anyway, pass through or not, having the SLEX Extension to Lucena will certainly affect the economy of the municipalities and cities on and near it.

Street Dancing 2010 – LSPU

This next video is also from YouTube and it shows LSPU’s entry in the recently concluded Street Dancing Competition. According to the information on the sidebar the group won Best in Choreography Award and 1st Place Street Dancing Competition.

One thing that I’ve noticed about the costumes in this year’s competition is that they are using less and less coconut in their design and creation. Unlike in the earlier years of the competition where everything were almost made up of coconut.

SM City San Pablo in Google Maps

A lot of us are very excited about the on-going construction of SM City San Pablo which is located along the Maharlika Highway in Riverina Subdivision, San Rafael. For photos and discussion, please refer to “SM San Pablo: Rumor or Fact?”

The above photo is a Google Maps shot taken from Wikimapia and it shows where SM City San Pablo will be located. Unfortunately, Google Maps hasn’t updated the photo of the area because if they did then we will see traces or indication of some kind of construction in the photo which is not evident here.

Below are just some Google Maps shots from Wikimapia showing the area covered by San Pablo City, the area covered by the province of Laguna and an aerial map shot of Luzon.
