A Look at ARTORIUS
Today I had a chance to visit and explore ARTORIUS, a Roleplay and Combat place in Second Life that is both Roman and Arthurian in theme. It is located in the Cascade Falls region and has aaminah Shikami listed as owner. She also plays the role of Empress of Rome with Mike1 Langer as Emperor. The Queen of ARTORIUS is played by Thelema Parnes and King Arthur is played by TROJAN Petrovic.

Typhoon Santi, How’s Everyone?

I should have posted this yesterday but the constant power fluctuations before and during typhoon Santi kind of messed up my computer’s CMOS settings. Anyway, how was everyone before, during and after the typhoon?

I’m not exactly sure of the time when Typhoon Santi actually passed over San Pablo City but I think electricity went out at around 1:00 am that day and went back around 9:00 am or 10:00 am in the morning (same day). The first thing we did when the electricity was restored was to watch the news on TV.

I don’t think Typhoon Santi did as much damage as Typhoon Ondoy but it still left its mark. Calauan and Victoria was flooded, as reported in ANC, and the video below shows how strong the winds of Typhoon Santi were when it passed over Pila.

Below is another video taken in Sta. Cruz, Laguna where a bridge was washed away. Hope no one got hurt there.

Fortunately for us here in San Pablo City, our city is way above sea level so flooding won’t be a problem for us (I think) but, of course, we still have to prepared during times like this because anything can happen during a typhoon.

Oops, almost forgot that it’s All Saints Day today. I won’t be going today because, typhoon or not, the cemetery will be filled with people. I guess we will go tomorrow. In any case, be safe everyone.

Traffic and a Few Bucks with Adgitize

San Pablo City, A 2nd Class City?

I was doing my usual site surfing today when I stumbled upon a site that has a page about San Pablo City. There was nothing wrong about the information posted about our city except that it called our city a 2nd Class City. Nothing new about that either since even WikiPilipinas calls our city a 2nd Class City. What caught my attention about the page is the floating text that appears when you move your mouse over some links specially on links about other cities and municipalities in Laguna.

The floating text displays a brief description or info of what the link is about. For example, when you mouse over the link to Calamba the info displayed on the floating text is “Calamba City is a first class city in the province of Laguna, Philippines…”. The link to Santa Rosa City also shows the same info in its floating text. As for the municipalities like Santa Cruz, Los Baños, Cabuyao and San Pedro they all are described as “first class municipalities in the province of Laguna…”.

I guess it just shows how much other cities and municipalities in Laguna have progressed and their progress means progress for the entire province. Also, the growth and development of nearby municipalities will also benefit those here in San Pablo City. For example, people who can’t find work here in San Pablo City usually go to Cabuyao, Calamba City, Sta. Rosa City and other nearby towns to find work.

Anyway, as for San Pablo City being a 2nd Class City, I guess it’s just a matter of opinion. For me, San Pablo City has always and forever will be a First Class City.

I did install a classified ads plugin so that people can post whatever it is they’re looking for or wanting to buy/sell but I guess I kinda forgot to set it up properly to be usable to anyone. Anyway, I think I got it setup now with various categories from Real Estate to Employment Opportunities. Adding an Ad is very easy, here is how:

Click on the Classifieds link found on the Main Menu. It will take you to the Classified Ads page which will show all available categories.
Choose the category that fits your ad and click on its link. It will take you to the Category Page which will contain all the ads listed on that category.
To add your ad here, click on the Add a new Ad in this category link. It will open a new page with a form.
Fill up the form with as much information about your ad as you can. The more information you provide about your ad the better its chances of getting good results will be.
Submit your ad by clicking on the Submit button.

To avoid unnecessary spam, all ads will be moderated. Please only post ads that are related to San Pablo City like houses for rent, land for sale, car for sale, job openings in the city, events, new resorts, etc. Ads selling mobile phones in Calamba or Sta. Cruz will not be approved. Hope this helps our kalungsod in San Pablo.

Accident At Home

I was browsing through some photos that I took this past months when I stumbled upon this three photos. I took them last July and they were about an accident that happened very close to our home. (see photos below)

These photos were taken at Villongco Street, Villongco Subdivision, San Pablo City. What happened here is the van went out of control and drove itself through the wall. Luckily, the impact from the wall absorbed all the force making it stop upon hitting the house. Also, this accident only caused damaged to the wall and the van. No one was hurt from this accident which was a relief.

Must Go Back To Jogging

I really need to go back jogging or do some walking but because of the nature of my work I just can’t find the time anymore. I’d rather spend my free time sleeping than jogging or walking. Besides, I need a new pair of running shoes to do that. My old pairs got damaged in our last move and since I haven’t found any need for a new pair, I never bought new ones.

I used to spend my early mornings walking or jogging around Sampalok Lake with my wife but I got lazy and stopped. I guess my lazyness got to me. I gained some weight and now needs to cut it down because it won’t be good for me specially when our family has a history of heart ailments.

The doctor said I should take it slow. Start with a few minutes of walking then gradually increase the time and speed until I can do some jogging again. Too bad I don’t have one of those fancy speed and distance devices. They’ll sure come in handy.

Well, I’ll definitely start with walking because there is no way that I’ll go jogging wearing sandals. Maybe by the time I can go back jogging again, I’ve already bought myself a new pair of running shoes.

Also, I haven’t seen Sampalok Lake for months. I’m mighty curious as to what they’ve added around it.

Bogus Anti-Virus, AV Care

A few weeks back my computer got infected with AV Care. AV Care is a bogus anti virus program that performs a bogus virus scan of your computer. After the bogus virus scan it give you a report that your computer is infected and for AV Care to remove it you must pay or buy it.

I don’t know how AV Care got installed but what I do know is that my wife was the last person who used my computer. She might have clicked a link that installed AV Care without her knowing it. Well, she is not really that computer or internet savvy. She only uses a computer to check her Yahoo Mail and her Friendster account.

When I was back to using my computer, I noticed this shield icon in my task bar. I don’t remember seeing it before so I moused over it and it said AV Care. I double clicked it and it performed a virus scan of my computer.

Virus protection is a big concern of mine since I’m online almost 24 hours a day and because I was unfamiliar with AV Care I did some Googling where I found out that it was a bogus anti virus program. I immediately uninstalled it but for some reason my computer’s performance went downhill. It became very, very slow and it was running multiple instances or process of Google Update.

Thinking that I might have triggered a trojan or something, I spent hours trying to fix my computer but with no success so I did the next best thing and that was to format and reinstall everything. With a fresh windows install, everything was running perfectly again.

A few days ago, I converted 5,000mP (metaPoints) to Linden Dollars and yesterday I received an e-mail from metaRL confirming their delivery of 1,250L$ to my Second Life account in-world. Yay! That’s 1,250L$ for me to spend.
