For yet another Tangled screening, I put flowers in my hair again. No flowy princess blouse or any Flynn Rider satchel this time, but I did put my hair in braids.

I’ve forever loved braids, but…the reality is: braids and my hair don’t mix. No matter how I tug or keep my hands steady, my hair slips out of the braids. And even if I do manage to braid my hair, the tie always slides off too early for my liking. *sigh*

BUT I wanted to try braids today, so with the help of water and hair cuticle wax and pins and pins and pins (and my pretty flowers!) VIOLA! Yey braids!

I found a Rapunzel braid tutorial video the other week, and though my hair wasn’t even close to long enough for the whole thing, I at least got the Dutch lace braid down. Haha! (I finished the microbraids, too, but the English braid kept unravelling. So no English braids, and I just let the little guys get lost in the ponytail. Awww~

YEY COOL WEATHER SO I CAN DO LAYERING! Heeheehee.

White striped blouse, found and owned from my mom’s closet. Black shirt, Giordano. Knapsack, Kipling, from 15 years ago (no exaggeration). Jeans from Jag. Still-being-broken-in ankle boots from Bass. Watch from Tomato. Bracelets I made in college. Glasses. And, student-mode-me in true form: zero make-up.

I almost wore my Chucks with this outfit, but, like I said, I’m still trying to break in my boots.

This was at noon. Harsh lighting+glass window+red tiles = dramatic lighting. <3

I spent two days—count ‘em, TWO DAYS—to come up with this outfit. Mainly because of these two pieces:

Trilby from Lucban, P75. I’ve always wanted a fedora, and when I saw this during the Pahiyas festival, I bought it at once. I didn’t notice that it’s a tad too small for me. I haven’t worn it since, and I was thinking of sell it (or giving it away) and buy another one. But I ended up deciding to keep it. It’s been in my closet for half a year, patiently waiting for me to put it on my head.

Leather ankle boots from Bass, a gift from a friend. I was a bit hesitant about these boots. I mean, as many of you know, I LOVE boots, but…ankle boots? I wasn’t quite sure. I didn’t know if I had the jeans to wear them with (my other jeans keep bunching up around it), and I didn’t know if I had any other outfits to go with them. Ah, but I tried them, anyway.

So I had two things I definitely wanted to use—actually, I NEEDED to use them if I was to convince myself that they had a place in my wardrobe.

After many trial combinations and variations and mix and matching, I finally threw them together with my a graphic shirt from Circle C, a robot necklace from my brother (which you cannot see in this photo), my favorite unbranded jeans from Circle C, and my favorite satchel from Metrobank.

And, whaddya know? I think this combination might actually be working. Yeah?

LOL.

If you asked me last year if I would wear a skirt even though I wasn’t required to, I would’ve said “ABSOLUTELY NOT.” With conviction. True, I’ve worn a dress once last year just for fun (because it was a really nice dress, wasn’t it?) But I did keep insisting that I still wouldn’t wear a skirt if I didn’t have to.

But, after a year of blogging about clothes and other girliness, I told myself that maybe it was time that I actually broke my no-skirts-unless-absolutely-necessary rule.

That day, my friends, is NOT this day.

Because that, my friends, is NOT a skirt. HA! Yeah, its actually a skort.

My brother once told me that guys hated skorts. I don’t really get why.

But there it is: me in my skort, one that I’ve had for years, but almost rarely wore outside. I wore it during my graduation outing with my family, and posted the photo online. Monumental, that day. I think that was the first time the innerwebz saw my knees. Hrhrhr.

Okay, I’m going in circles now. MY POINT IS THIS: I started this year in a skort because I have decided that, yes, perhaps I might wear skirts and dresses this year. I’m still not sure yet, but I do blame this blog for slowly, but (apparently, oh so surely) tweaking my personal preferences.

SO. My January 1, 2011 outfit: Blue shirt from I-can’t-remember-where. Brown satchel, a Metrobank freebie. My skort from I-can’t-remember-where-either. A 10-year-old heart necklace from Davao (I think). Bracelets. Boots.

Cardigan vest, Circle C.

I think I mentioned before: blue is my favorite color. Also, the star is my favorite shape. Therefore, put them together in a rocking shirt (most preferably using denim), and I’ll probably love it forever.

I bought this during the time when baby tees were the thing (and low-rise jeans weren’t). That time, I willingly wore this shirt outside.

Today, though, it looks teeny tiny on me, and I haven’t worn it in more than a year. The quality’s still good, though, so I didn’t want to wear it out while inside the house. I figured that this shirt, one that served me well for years, might serve somebody else for more.

So I reluctantly put it on sale… and sadly sighed when another girl bought it. I just hope she’ll love it as much as I did.

It looks okay, I think, but it just never seems to work for me.

I love it, though. The material feels really nice, and it feels nice and cool when I wear it. The design has little ladies with umbrellas, cute silver dots, and STARS! I bought it because of the stars. Hehe. It’s long enough to be a skirt for girls who aren’t as tall as me, or you can wear leggings with it. You can also wear one of those thick belts with it!

I haven’t worn it, and the material is still good and not flimsy at all, but, yes, I’ll be selling this in my garage sale.

That means I had two closets full of clothes. And not teeny tiny closets, either. For each closet I had ample hanger space, and at least four tall piles of folded clothes (supposedly segregated into shirts, shorts, blouses and sleepwear). That’s for EACH closet. And I had TWO.

I therefore concluded that I had WAY too much clothes.

But, we all wonder, how is it possible for a non-shopper, a girl who HATES shopping, to have too many clothes?

The answer is easy: I love my clothes.

See, I hate shopping for clothes, right? That means that when I DO buy something, that means I really really like it. That means that if I had a choice, I wasn’t going to get rid of them quickly, because getting rid of my clothes meant needing to buy new ones which meant going to the mall (or thrift store) and going shopping. Which we all know I hate.

Last summer I already attempted to discard the clothes I haven’t been using. I don’t think I was very successful. I ended up just using the stuff I haven’t been using. Which really isn’t a bad thing…

But I realized that I do have to get rid of some pieces soon. All the clothes still in my closet rock, I believe that, but there is just too many of them!

So here I am amidst clothes and clothes and clothes. I’m not sure what to do with them yet, but I am sure that they have to leave my closet. Soon.

This yellow blouse was a Christmas gift from Sara last year. She made the yellow and white flowers

I’ll be honest here: I’ve never worn it. See it was so cute…too cute. Haha! At the time, I wasn’t sure if I could pull off “cute” nicely.

“It’s too cold for it, anyway,” I had said.

Summer of 2010 came around, and I still didn’t wear it. I wanted to wear it, I really did, but, again, it was too cute, too girly. And I didn’t know what to wear with it. Or so I said.

Now, it’s almost the cold season again, and I still haven’t worn it. But LOOK! I know what to wear with it now! Ahahaha! I found my white headband hidden in my drawer. These are too tight for me; I get headaches if I wear it for too long. So I’m going to buy me another one that fits me properly. And then I’m finally going to wear this cutie blouse.

Question: do you think I can pull off cute?

I didn’t bother putting on make-up lol. But it kinda matches the whole… light, fluffy feel of the photo, yes? No? *ahem* Never mind.
