      <title>Farmer grant FNE12-764: Coring Injection method of applying compost to Christmas trees</title>

      <description>&lt;table class=" object-left" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0"&gt;&lt;tr&gt;&lt;td class=" text-left" valign="top" style="vertical-align: top"&gt;  Field day displaying second year results of applying compost to Christmas trees.&amp;nbsp;The morning will include speakers on the project itself but will also include presentations on compost in general, soil Health, soil&amp;nbsp;testing, soil born diseases, and demonstrations of the&amp;nbsp;turf coring&amp;nbsp; machine used.&amp;nbsp;The Afternoon will be in the middle of a trial section. Viewing results. Soil health sampling. Weed proliferation and identification. These stations will be led by leading experts from UVM,Cornell. Lunch will be presented by local specialty food purveyors. Trade show will include specialty equipment and materials and&amp;nbsp;a&amp;nbsp;Marketing expert will offer thoughts on the benefits to public perception of the industry being environmentally friendly.

      <title>NOFA Vermont's 8th Annual Direct Marketing Conference</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;Vermont farmers who sell their products directly to their local communities through farmers’ markets, farm stands, and CSA (community supported agriculture) farms, will gather for a day of workshops and networking on Sunday, January 13&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; at the Vermont Law School in South Royalton.&lt;/p&gt;	&lt;p&gt; The Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont’s 8th Annual Direct Marketing Conference is designed to bring together farmers and market experts to serve as an educational opportunity helping farmers build stronger marketing opportunities to serve the thriving Vermont market for local food.&lt;/p&gt;	&lt;p&gt; The conference will feature 20 workshops on a variety of marketing and market development topics including Strategies for Marketing Local and Organic, Targeting and Communicating Your Message: A Grassroots Marketing Workshop,and Online Direct Markets.The conference will also host the annual meeting of the Vermont Farmers’ Market Association.&lt;/p&gt;	&lt;p&gt; In addition to these opportunities, conference attendees will enjoy a variety of featured speakers inspired by the TEDTalks format of brief but excellent presentations on “ideas worth spreading.”  We’re excited to replace the usual keynote address with shorter dynamic and motivating talks with five direct marketing experts.
