So now that we have completed Cartopia: Portland’s Food Cart Revolution, we are starting to get a very strong feeling that a Portland Boxed Set is in order. I mean, other people in other cities are dying to know what makes Portland so amazing. So here is my list, but feel free to add your ideas using the “comments” feature.

“That’s So Portland!” Boxed Set

Bicycle Designers + Builders: From fixies to urban cargo delivery bikes, there are some amazing innovations going on in the bicycle design community.

Distilled Spirits: vodka, gin, rum, ginger spiced rum, pear brandy and more, Portlanders like to geek out on crafting local spirits

Craft Culture: Knitting, fermenting, preserving, cheesemaking, etc Portlanders like to be self sufficient and learn how to make things themselves (and with others – DIT – do it together)

Microbrews: handcrafted beer

Fashion: Portland is positioned to give New York and LA a run for their money when it comes to fashion

Coffee: Stumptown and beyond

Media: comics, zines, radio and film – each could be their own book, we have such a thriving indie media scene in Portland.

Tattoo Artistry: like Starbucks in other cities, there is a tattoo shop on every other corner in Portland, are we the most heavily tatted city? I guess we will find out.

Sexy stuff: strip clubs, sex shops, and just being sexy, for some reason Portland is a very horny place.
