using drain prep & flushing out pipes?

hi there,

i just picked up a bottle of drain prep for my next empty/fill, but it suggests removing the filter before using. however it also says to circulate it overnight! my hot tub instructions warn strongly against ever running the tub without a filter in place, in fact it will invalidate my warranty. so how exactly do i use the drain prep?

i'm also curious about how to flush out the last of the old gross water from my tub before i refill. there's always a little bit in the bottom of the filter housing and i know there's stuff in the pipes i can't see... and part of why i bought the drain prep is to deal with this stuff... but how? i don't have a water vaccuum nor do i have the resources to buy anything else thanks to the pandemic... but surely there has to be a way?

thanks!

spa - stabilized chlorine granules different sizes?

due to covid-19, my regular spa dealer is closed and i had to get stabilized chlorine granules at the hardware store. they are labelled for pool use rather than spa use, and are guaranteed 62% vs the 56% the dazzle ones are, and they are larger flat flakes rather than the fine powder in the dazzle bottle. but i assume they'll do the trick, right? can't imagine being unable to use my tub during these trying times!!! thanks & stay safe :)

hot to bring alkalinity down?

hello,

during my weekly test, the ph was low so i added ph+ to bring it up. this also had the effect of boosting my total alkalinity. how do i bring the alkalinity back down?

this is the second time this has happened - the first time i just waited for it to go back down by itself, which took a couple days, but this time it's taking longer (it's still too high after 4 days) and i'm a little worried.

thanks!

rebalancing after adding water to spa?

we've had our hot tub for almost 3 weeks and the water level has dropped a couple inches (guessing it's the water that leaves the tub on our bathing suits?)

what's the best way to replace the lost water and rebalance? can i simply add some water from the hose as when filling and then do a test strip and balance as needed, or is there a specific process to follow?

i've been testing weekly and haven't needed to add anything other than daily chlorine to replace what we've used, & weekly shock, so far. so i'm not sure exactly how to rebalance (like if there's an order to do things in, do i need to wait and test in between each chemical if i have to add ta and ph, do i need to leave cover off for a period of time, etc...) i would also love any general tips for when i do need to. thanks!!!

how to replace chlorine after each soak?

i was told to put 1 tsp of chlorine granules in the tub after each time we use it (we're in our little fantasy spas embrace 2-3 times a day). i was told to broadcast it in the deeper end and put the jets on for a few minutes, so i have been broadcasting it when i get out, then closing the cover and let the reheating jets (which are the low setting) take care of mixing it into the water. a friend said it's better to put it in the filter and to put the jets on high for ten minutes, but i thought that was just for the weekly shock? what do you recommend? and do the jets have to be high, or is low ok if i'm closing the cover and going inside right after i get out of the tub and add the chlorine? or do i need to leave the cover open for a few minutes like with weekly shocking? (it's november after all!)

I am using Dazzle Amaze Plus, but I am surprised at the directions for use. I don’t use a weight form of measurement (scale), yet the directions are 350 grams per 40,000Liters of pool water. This does not convert easily to cups as 1 cup of feathers weigh differently than 1 cup of lead (The grams for these are vastly differently). I have search the internet, but see a WIDE variety of answers based on the product and their density. Can you help?
