My regular job is absorbing all my time. As many of you already know, I moderate all comments and I try to respond to anyone (via comment or direct email). So, be patient.

The time I’m saving not reading all comments is used to develop version 2 of Newssletter.

Some people reporting that version 1.5.3 and may be 1.5.2 stop to work, or better the configuration panels do not show. I think is a problem of PHP configuration or version, so I made a new version with some modifications that may be the solution to that issue.

Try to update and hope…

This new version is only a maintenance release with some layout changes and a more complete internationalization code (for who wants to translate using a .pot file).

Google Search Engine Quality Worse Than Ever

Google claims to work hardly on it’s search engine quality. It cares to not list dangerous sites, spam sites, sites without relevant content.

But it’s really true?

I follow a number of blogs, with really different topics, because I’m the owner or the maintainer. They are real blog, with real people behind that write real articles. Thay rank discretely well, they have an interesting traffic level an loyalty.

But, in Italy, there are a number of site networks build upon copy and paste of other blog feeds. They don’t ask permission to republish the whole or part of other feed, they simply take two or three rows of text, copy the title and the url keywords.

Those “blogs” are full filled of AdSense. Not only: they rank on Google Search Egnine BETTER than the original sites.

This is not a news. They are months I find and try to contrast such situation. Do Google Italy is more tolerant than Google US? Or those sites hits a Google hole?

Today I was testing the feed by mail new function of Newsletter plugin (and still I really don’t know if I ever release it). Testing I sent myself 6761 email filling up my account… I’m seeking people to delete them!!!

I see from WordPress statistics page that my Newsletter plugin has many downloads per day. So I’m asking myself “what user think about thast plugin? Do they install and remove or them trying to use it?”

Would you share your positive or negative experience with Newsletter plugin? Are you using it or have you removed it and why?

This version is an attempt to find ad give advice to poeple who have some blog folder not writeable and deny Hyper Cache to save options.

This version does not solve the problem (that cannot be solved) but tries to make tests and print error messages.

Newsletter Version 1.5.1

Newsletter version 1.5.1 has an important new option and feature. In Composer panel you can now set a “return path” address. This address is added as value to a special email header, so delivery error will be sent to that address.

I was wrongly assuming that WordPress was setting this value. It did not, so I added an interceptor to set the return path on email sending.

You will find a little design revisits of the admin panel too.

Hyper Cache Version 2.6.5

This new version is an update for Windows systems. On Windows based hosting the PHP function filectime() cannot be used, so I changed it on filemtime().

The problem was discovered and solved by Sergey T.
