Joiku, Nokia N900, DHCP Not Working

I really don’t know if it’s a Joiku problem and probably I have not searchied the net enough, but when installed on a Nokia N900 of a my friend, thw wi-fi hostspot starts but no device can get an address using DHCP.

My friend tried with two different laptop (Vista and Windows 7), with a iPad and with a Samsung i600.

To make the whole thing works, on a laptop I connected to the wi-fi network created by Joiku and then I force manually the IP address, mask, DNS and gateway.

The parameter I used are:

IP: 192.168.2.5

Mask: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 192.168.2.1 (it’s the IP Joiku use on device it is running on)

DNS1: 8.8.8.8

DNS2: 8.8.4.4

DNS IPs are thoe onse of Google.

Setting that the laptop starts to navigate Internet and doesn’t give anymore the message “local connection only/limited connection”.

Be aware: when you need to connect to another wi-fi (with Windows 7) you need to reset such parameter on “autoassigned”.

Mailer is a new plugin I made to try to solve mail sending problem on providers with strict limits on mails per hour (almost every provider). Owner of blogs which do not send to many email do not care about provider’s limits, but if your blog has plugins like Comment Notifier, that limits can be a big problem.

So… Mailer!

From August 28 to September 13 I’m on vacation. I don’t know how many time I’ll can read my mail, fix problems with subscriptions/PayPal and for sure I won’t able to fix bugs on plugins, so be patient.

Theme Changing Right Now

Since my wife bought some themes from WooThemes, I take one (HeadLines) to change the theme of Satollo.net. It seems not only aesthetic cool, but it have a great control panel where to change almost anything.

Now I’m only hoping it does not create problem with members area… because my last experience with a thesis themes with Comment Image plugin, taught me that some time themes can be the source of malfunction…

Now I want to see how this post will look!

An update the differs from the previous version by one character. Sometime a single character can make the difference!

That character was causing a warning message by PHP (not an error) displayed on some blog with PHP configured to show warnings.

Solved.

Available on download area for members, Newsletter Pro version 2.0.4 fixes a minor problem on blogs with many plugins installed and using more than 64 megabytes of memory (problem discovered today assisting a member).

Memory errors are subtle to discover. Usually the most common symptom is a blank page or pages half displayed or process abruptly interrupted without any other notice.

For who know a little bit of PHP, if no errors messages are displayed, one can turn them on on php.ini configuration file or using error_reporting function:

error_reporting(E_ERROR | E_WARNING | E_PARSE);

many time memory error, if not displayed, are registered on Apache error log file.
