New Orleans-born, LA-based DJ/producer Trent Cantrelle scored big in 2011 with his dance floor rocker “I Want A Freak”. The smash hit went on to be one of the top 10 selling House songs in the world 2011, Beatport Award nominated, and the only U.S. artist in his category. His sound leans toward big room peak-time house and tech, as heard on his recent releases “Ride” and the DMC Buzz Charting “Night Like This”. This caught the ear of Swedish House Mafia which recently had Trent open for them at their Ushuaia residency kickoff in Ibiza this Summer. For those in the know, this type of success is nothing new to the veteran U.S. artist.

Starting out in the early 90s Trent Cantrelle was constantly called upon to adapt his skills and sound to a dizzying array of circumstances. At the turn of the century Trent decided to expand his horizons and hit the road for Los Angeles. It is in LA that Trent’s production work really took off on a global level. When Trent scored Essential New Tune at WMC 2005, with his smash rock hybrid “Runaway”, he was clocked by Pete Tong as “One of the hottest dance talents from the US”. The instant hit was licensed in over 15 countries and carried on to be one of the top tunes of that year. After breaking onto the global scene his DJ schedule kicked into high gear playing some of the biggest clubs around the globe. Along the way keeping up momentum by dropping heavily charted hits such as Turbofunks “Gotta Move” remix and his reworking of Pete Hellers “Big Love”, which Eric Morillo donned “the biggest tune of Ibiza 2007“. Shortly following, the Deep Flexion “Emotions Of The Night“ remix leaped across genres with a spot on Tiesto’s Club Life radio show and DJ Mag dubbing Trent “Man of the moment“. Studio duties have seen him work with everyone from Princess Superstar to remixing mainstream acts such as Seal, Maroon 5, Pussycat Dolls, and Mutemath. Over the years having amassed an impressive catalog of original tracks and remixes he has appeared on such labels as Ministry Of Sound, Spinnin’, Toolroom, Black Hole, Subliminal, Ultra, and many more.

The high profile productions helped further launch his career in the US and abroad, accompanying the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong, and Sander Kleinenberg on tour. In addition to the club circuit, he performed at some of America’s biggest outdoor music events such as Coachella Music Festival, and The Electric Daisy Carnival.

Myths abound in the north when it comes to techno ground zero, and they refuse to go away. Oliver Huntemann is one of a handful of children of the north who, for what seems like an eternity, add an element of credence to the mythology. He does not, of course, live in a snowy forest or at the edge of the polar oceans. The sun does, on occasion, shine down on Hamburg. Nevertheless, there is a tendency towards hypothermic reduction in the rigorous efficiency of the Huntemann oeuvre. Images of cold storage warehouses, desolate heavy plant sites and bluish flesh are not entirely misplaced. Shards of German Engineering glimmer in his music, laced with persuasive logic, gruesome Darwinism. What remains: what works.

In “Brighter than the sun“, the English music theorist Kodwo Eshun depicts the birthplace of Kraftwerk, Dusseldorf, as the “Mississippi Delta of Techno“. Huntemann’s tracks may well have dragged themselves out of the same primeval soup, but it was the far north which fired them with the necessary steel for clubland. The resulting creations are linear, free of fancy, charmingly direct. One particular London arbiter of taste sought to label the
nature of his skeletal sound as “bare and striped back to the metallic core“ – whereby Huntemann’s reduction does not end in thin minimalism, it draws attention to the core itself. Less is more to the max. The only luxury is a little dirt.

Whilst hordes of German producers and DJs set their satnavs for Berlin, Oliver Huntemann chose to head back home. His epicenter is, and will remain, the north. Hamburg, to be exact. This is where he produces his music and it is from here that he sets out into the world, thrilling the populous with his DJ sets.

Oliver Huntemann’s concrete roots can be traced back to early techno. Had he been any younger, he would undoubtedly have sucked electronica like mother’s milk from a C64 chip. Like so many of his colleagues, his route to techno took a tour through electro and rave. He could tell the usual veteran tales when it comes to influences, his first record purchases, or on the subject of the good old days. Been there, done that! It was more difficult maintaining a low profile.

Since 2008 Huntemann has been running the Ideal Audio label. A new chapter after more than fifteen years Confused Recordings plus a host of sub and sister labels. As well as numerous 12 inches and almost as many remixes (for Underworld, Chemical Brothers and Depeche Mode, to name just a few), he released his third album, “H-3“ in 2009 to critical acclaim on Ideal Audio.

Oliver’s expertly constructed productions quickly gained him countless admirers within the techno-elite, and it wasn’t long before he struck up a devastating partnership with Dubfire. In 2008 the pair released the awesome ‘Dios’ which was followed last year with the first part of their ‘Elements’ series: ‘Terra’ and ‘Fuego’. The highly-anticipated next installment of the ‘Elements’ series is scheduled for release later in 2012 and initial reactions indicate that ‘Aqua’ and ‘Aire’ are set to be just as big as the duo’s earlier productions.

In November 2011, Oliver released his second artist album entitled “Paranoia”. Maintaining the lofty standards already set by his previous musical output, Paranoia, received glowing reviews across the board and further cemented Oliver’s position as one of techno’s most sought-after artists. Furthermore, with guest vocals from the world-famous and highly sought-after American Robert Owens in addition to the supremely talented Danish singer Ane Trolle, Paranoia demonstrated Oliver’s enduring skill and versatility as a producer.

German producer, DJ Francesco Diaz has been making sonic house grooves for close to 20 years. During this time he has crafted a back catalogue which includes releases like ‘Don’t You Want Me’ and ‘Ibiza’, while delivering numerous sublime remixes like his rework of John Dahlback’s ‘Everywhere’ and Dada Life´s ‘Cookies With A Smile’. It is through this consistent studio output that he has remained an evergreen presence amongst the playlists of the scenes biggest names which include Tiësto, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso.

Breaking into house’s executive club, Francesco’s career as a DJ has elevated him to topping the bill at many of the world’s most prestigious clubs and festivals. Amongst headline shows for the Polish Sunrise Festival, Ministry of Sound and 20 Years Anniversary Brazil, he has also ignited dancefloors in countries such as Colombia, Russia, Norway, Switzerland, Sweden, Greece, Austria, Ukraine and Ibiza. It is no surprise then that having had such a fruitful touring schedule over the last few years that in 2010 he secured the #182 slot in DJ Magazine’s esteemed Top 100 DJ Poll.

After earning his badges working as label boss for several recording imprints, Francesco stepped out from the shadows of the studio office to release his own productions. His debut single ‘Say a little Prayer’, which featured the pinpoint vocals of Karl Frierson, came out on Muschitunes in 2005 and was an instant hit. In the same year he released his second single ‘Time to Turn Around’, which notched up high praise and further saw the record spend 4 weeks at the top of Scandinavian Dance Charts; lending its hand to his friendship with those infamous Swedes Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello.

Since then he has scaled the download charts of Beatport, TrackItDown.net and iTunes with dance floor monsters like ‘Morphine’, ‘Crash’, ‘1998’, ‘Into The Night’ and ‘Perfect Moment’. Captured the ears of the scenes elite with his remix projects for artists such as Eddie Thoneick, AnnaGrace and DJ Chus, as well as chalked up genre defining collaborations with Thomas Gold, Denis the Menace and Jerry Ropero. Over the years his music has been signed to imprints around the globe from Joia Records, Ministry of Sound, PinkStar Records, Vendetta Records, Time Records, Blanco Y Negro, Pickadoll and Kontor Records.

Lacing up his boots for his debut artist album back in 2010, Francesco paired with the Young Rebels for his first long player – ‘Mission Complete’. Released through German’s famous fashion labels musical arm Wormland Music, an imprint Francesco himself oversees, ‘Mission Complete’ weighed in with some standout collaborations from such studio friends as John Dahlbäck, the colossal talents of Thomas Gold and the soulfully wrenching vocal chords of Terri B!. Alongside a strong collaboration frontline, the double CD album also contained a rare selection of handpicked remixes from the earth shattering sounds of Deadmau5, Dada Life and the chart scoring talents of Avicii.

As well as his debut artist album, Francesco also completed an extraordinary remix album titled ‘Timeless’ for legendary Greek composer and cultural icon Mikis Theodorakis; famed for his eternal classical pieces and film scores in movies such as ‘Zorba the Greek’ and ‘Serpico’ staring Academy Award winning actor Al ‘Pacino. As part of the 85th anniversary of Mikis’ life, Francesco was invited by the iconic composer himself to modernise some of his most famous compositions (‘Zorba’, ‘Honeymoon Song’ etc) and craft them into an electronic soundscape fitting for a new era of music lovers.

Additional to his album projects the last 12 months has seen Francesco release a steady flow of tracks on a myriad of labels. From his collaborative work with the Young Rebels on ‘Hamburg’ and ‘Love’ featuring the vocals of Shawnee Taylor, both tracks were released through Ministry of Sound, to his combined efforts ‘Disco’ and ’God Save The Queen’ with Jeff Rock on celebrated Dutch imprint Spinnin’, Francesco has maintained his trademark production quality throughout. By crafting robust, club rocking tracks unique in their design and infused with measurable shades of elements from progressive, electro and house music, Francesco has poised his music in a place that is as comfortable among the sets of Thomas Gold and Swedish House Mafia, as those of Pete Tong and Above & Beyond.

With his successes being anything but ephemeral, Francesco is driven and focused for what he himself sees as his biggest year from the studio to date. With a stream of new releases and an uninterrupted schedule of tour dates planned for the summer, Francesco is brimming with a new found love for his surroundings and a wave of bubbling excitement with his music going forward. Commenting on his recent move to Barcelona he says “I feel moving to Barcelona has been the making of me as an artist. While Hamburg will always be my home, Barca is a multiplex of opportunities and ideas. Most notable for 2012 is his return to the compilation fore for Ministry of Sound; where Francesco will be lining up alongside Grammy Nominee producer/DJ Jean Elan to compile and mix the new ‘Clubbers Guide to Ibiza 2012’ – back in 2009 Francesco shared the same honour mixing Ministry of Sound’s ‘Clubbers Guide to Ibiza’ with Swedish anthem machine John Dahlback. Other news includes his forthcoming single ‘Sway (Quién será)’ on heavyweight imprint Kontor Records, a collaborative effort with Daniel Ortega and Mike Moorish titled ‘Sway’ – which is a remake of the 1953 mambo song by Pablo Ruiz, made famous by the Rat Pack’s Dean Martin, and a perpetual touring schedule that will see Francesco touring countries such as Turkey, Beirut, Pakistan, Germany, as well as an appearance at this year’s Sonar Festival in his new home Barcelona.

International clubbers have been increasingly drawn to Mladen’s captivating blend of techno and tech house with hypnotic tribal rhythms, with the lucrative Latin American market the latest to fall victim to the Tomic beat.

A string of high-ranking releases and remixes for techno’s major players has propelled Mladen to the top of the stack. Recognition for his recordings has delivered Mladen to parties across Europe and the Americas, while his high-spec home studio is more than earning its keep. Already a force in the Southern California club scene, David Delano is expanding his horizons and looking at bringing his brand of House and Club music to the world. David possesses a flare for music and is a technician on how he moves the crowd. Those who have been lucky to experience his talents in person continue to come back for more. He was asked by Richard Vission to join the twenty year old mixshow institution of PowerTools. The show is the longest running mixshow in the U.S. Not to be boxed in just as a DJ, David credits long time radio veteran Swedish Egil for peaking his interest in producing. Through some of his early work David has also caught the ear of Paul Oakenfold. David released a remix of Shannon’s Let The Music Play on Oakenfold’s label Perfecto which hit #2 on Itunes Dance Charts and was featured on Oakenfold’s Vegas mix CD. He was also tapped to remix The Joyriders’ London in Da House which was a huge international hit and could be heard on many DJs sets and podcasts. David is quickly becoming an accomplished producer and ambassador of dance music.
House music is his greatest influence and to quote the man “House music is a way of life!” DJ David Delano is a one man force to experience and he shows no signs of stopping as long as the people of the world keep dancing.

Destructo (Gary Richards) began DJing and producing undergrounds in the early 90s in Los Angeles, most notably creating RaveAmerica at Knotts Berry Farm. Rick Rubin subsequently handpicked Gary for A&R in electronic music at Def American Recordings, launching a noteworthy career with such acts as Lords of Acid, Messiah, David Holmes, Basement Jaxx, Dub Pistols, God Lives Underwater and founding 1500 Records and Nitrus Records. After carrying his success to the metal world with No Name Mgmt, Destructo returned to his roots in 2007 by creating HARD. HARD events such as the HARD Haunted Mansion have become synonymous with cutting edge electronic music and unforgettable experiences, where the talent rosters reflect Destructo’s own impeccable DJ sets.

Chris Garcia was born in Arles, France to a DJ father, which stemmed his early passion for music and technique. Chris’ career began in 2000 when he was hired as a resident DJ at one of the most famous nightclubs in Avignon: The Red Zone, followed by a residency at Palma in Cap d’Agde. Due to his particular music style, Chris was regularly invited to DJ at events in many countries such as Tunisia and Spain.
In 2004, Chris arrived in Las Vegas for what was meant to be a two-week vacation. He was so amazed by the city that he decided to pack his bags and make his new home in Las Vegas, Nevada. Before long, he was offered his first American residency at the world-renowned DRAI’S Afterhours on Las Vegas Blvd.

After his first year in Vegas, Chris was offered dates and guest DJ spots in other American cities like Los Angeles, Phoenix and Chicago.He soon became resident DJ at Tryst and Tao, two prestigious Las Vegas nightclubs, and a residency in Mexico at the famous Nikki Beach. As a result, Chris began to play with some of the biggest DJs of all time including Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Steve Angello, Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold, Deep Dish, and KASKADE.

In 2009, Chris decided to take it to the next level and started producing his own music. He met an up-and-coming producer from Los Angeles named Mehrbod and they started to collaborate on different remixes and productions together, creating various bootlegs, mash-ups and remixes that got play from some of the biggest DJs around the world.

Recently Chris was approached and signed by Universal Music, one of the biggest labels in the world. He started to release single after single, his first being the remake of “Rhythm of the Night”, which became one of the biggest tunes in Europe that year.

Today, Chris Garcia is living the American dream. He is signed to SKAM Artist, one of the top agencies in the country, representing Pitbull, Lil John and Nick Cannon, just to name a few. Chris received a Resident DJ of the Year award for his residency at the infamous Playhouse Los Angeles last year and continues to travel the world, spreading his passion for house music. From Los Angeles to Morocco to Hong Kong, EDC to some of the biggest festivals worldwide, Chris is putting his footprint in the industry of house music.

There are those that traverse genres with the times, shifting their loyalty to the sound of now at a whim as they attempt to stay relevant. Then there are those that stay true, loyal soldiers to their passion. Jean-Paul is one who sits firmly in the latter category, a true house soldier from before he first lay hands on the 1s and 2s.

Sydney born but of Mauritian stock, Jean-Paul has been DJing since the early noughties. House was, and remains, his inspiration. Suckling on the soulful flavours of Frankie Knuckles, Julie McKnight, MAW, Todd Terry, David Penn, Junior Sanchez and Copyright spurred the teenager to build a formidable vinyl collection. Others, such as Laurent Garnier, gave the youngster varied yin to his pure house yan.

Developing a sound akin to his influences, yet with a distinct next-generation feel, Jean-Paul’s sets showcased an original vibe in Melbourne through the mid-noughties. While others flocked to electro-house (and then it’s myriad of off-shoots), Jean-Paul was rapidly building a profile with a forward thinking sound: two parts house, one part tech, all parts sexy. The warm and organic feel to a JP set stood him apart from his ubiquitous electro contemporaries.

Jean-Paul’s seamless DJ skills did not go unnoticed, with the jock quietly notching up an enviable list of gigs. Residencies at iconic Melbourne venues, were topped up by regular interstate spots. Festival appearances followed at Summadayze, Kiss My Grass, Future Music Festival, Winter Sound System, Global Gathering Australia and Armin Only; as well as coveted, personally selected support sets for Calvin Harris and more. It wasn’t long before the international market came knocking, with Jean-Paul touring south-east Asia.

Having ticked so many boxes behind the decks, entering the studio was the next logical step for the globe-trotting DJ. For his DJ sets JP has made a habit of melding his influences together to create a totally unique sound that simultaneously nods homage to the masters whilst stepping ahead of the game. One would be correct in assuming his work in the studio would follow this same trend.

His latest bomb is main-room monster The Fire, featuring Australian dance music icon Luke Chable. The stadium sized vocal house anthem was quickly picked up by major label EMI and will be distributed globally in 2012.

With many more originals and remixes cued up and ready to roll, Jean-Paul’s journey is unfolding just nicely. The humble Mauritian-Australian aims not to sell millions, but to become a respected name on the worldwide house scene and make “a timeless track, one that I could play 20 years from now”. Ali Ghanavi is a Los Angeles based DJ whose career originated in Mexico and San Diego. From underground warehouse parties to opening sets at festivals such as HARD in Los Angeles, Ali Ghanavi has the ability to rock any party at any given time.

Music has always been a strong passion for Jon Dadon. His early exposure to jazz led him to begin playing the trumpet at a young age. With more than a decade of experience in numerous jazz orchestras and ensembles, Dadon gained invaluable knowledge of music theory and technique. Years later, in exploration of new sound avenues, he discovered and fell in love with electronic music, in particular: house & techno. Realizing that his niche in music was live performance and production, DJing proved to be the perfect outlet for his ambitions. The thrill of every live mix and his satisfaction in watching the crowd groove with excitement are what drive the growth of Dadon’s passion for performance.

Cedric Gervais has had an extraordinary life. As a young teenager, Cedric, who is originally from Marseilles, headed to St Tropez. There he got a summer residency at the famed Papa Gaio club. He was only 14 years old, not even legally old enough to party with the people he played for. This quickly turned into a residency at Paris’ Queen club. Knowing the only path for him was music, Cedric pleaded with his father to take him out of school so he could concentrate on DJing. His father agreed, and, as is customary in France, went to the local courts to put Cedric’s case forward. Then at just 15 years old and not speaking any English he decided Paris wasn’t challenging him enough musically so he packed up and moved to Miami. This was at a time when an exciting movement within the club scene was happening in Miami; Big clubs were opening, the power of residencies were becoming ever more evident, Cedric saw this opportunity and jumped in.

He secured residencies at the best clubs and parties Miami had to offer – Living Room, Nikki Beach, Crobar and Space. During this time it wasn’t just his DJing that excelled but his studio output too. His first big break came in the form of ‘Spirit of my Life’ in 2006; Pete Tong made it an Essential New Tune on his BBC Radio 1 show. Cedric followed with a string of high profile remixes for the likes of Dubfire and more ‘Essential New Tunes’ followed – namely in the form of 2009’s ‘Mauri’s Dream’ and most recently ‘Molly’, of which Madonna is a fan, more on that later.

Two of Cedric’s most high profile club-residencies have been at Liv in Miami and Marquee in Las Vegas. Both of which are now home to his very own SHITSHOW!!! Parties. These events started at Liv and have grown to become a next-level clubbing experience. The ethos is simple, the production and level of effort put into making these parties happen is anything but. Put simply, anything goes at the SHITSHOW!!! events, there is no judgment or rules, only crazy clothes, lights, décor and one of the most up-for-it crowds found in any club globally. Cedric plays all night and the success of these events has meant its expanded from its original home in Miami to incorporate parties in Las Vegas at Marquee…and who knows where it will head this year…

Serge Devant developed an insatiable taste for electronic music during the 1990’s explosion that saw acts like The Prodigy; Chemical Brothers , Underworld , K.L.F and DJs like Sasha and John Digweed, Danny Tenaglia , Paul van Dyk and Carl Cox blow up around the world. As a resident of New York City Serge had the unique opportunity to visit Twilo – the club considered the epicenter of America’s renewed interest in dance music – on a regular basis. It was at this famed club where Serge’s career path became clear…he was going to be the DJ.

Serge’s DJ career began at New York’s legendary Tunnel where he honed his craft and learned how to properly work the room. By 2006 Serge launched his own residency at Crobar and consistently wowed fans with his hallmark high-octane and uplifting sets. At the same time Serge started writing his own material and made his presence felt in a big way with his anthemic take on Beloved’s “Sweet Harmony” in 2007. Soon thereafter, Serge’s name and brand recognition grew to a point where his name even appeared on his own exclusive Coca-Cola bottle as a part of the company’s Beijing Olympics campaign.

Led by the smash single “Addicted,” Serge’s first album, Wanderer, debuted in June 2009. The track became an instant classic hitting #1 across Europe and received regular airplay from Sirius XM, Kiss FM and Radio 1. While Wanderer was a far reaching collection of dance, song based and even chill out tracks, Serge’s forthcoming sophomore album is more dance oriented and pays homage to some of the artists that had a profound influence on shaping him as an artist. The first single to come from the new album, a remake of The KLF’s “3AM Eternal,” is already taking the world by storm having become a mainstay in the sets of the worlds most respected DJs.

Paolo Mojo is firmly established as a leading light on the underground house music scene with a large global following and a consistent production schedule that keeps him in demand all over the world.

A true ‘international’, there are not many countries that haven’t had a touch of the Mojo magic these days. He’s earned himself a formidable global fan base thanks to his hectic schedule…Womb in Tokyo, Ministry of Sound in London, Avalon in Los Angeles, Warung Beach in Brazil, Wonderland in Ibiza, Chinese Laundry in Sydney and Zouk in Singapore are just some of the venues he graces consistently.

It’s all built on the back of a consistent, high profile discography.

2011 started with a bang with the Essential Selection playlisted ‘Mmmm Daaa’ snapped up by legendary house label Strictly Rhythm for a spring release. His much hyped ‘All Night, Alright’ was released on hot Italian label 303 Lovers, home of Manuel De La Mare and Alex Kenji.

2010 saw successful singles released on Noir (Crazy For You) Hysterical (Disco Kiss) and Younan Music (He’s The Man). Remixes of Saeed Younan and Rainer Weichold’s for German label Great Stuff followed, as did his well received Foxhunt / Soca! single.

Elsewhere, his track 1983 on Eric Prydz’ Pryda Friends has become a true club classic. He’s also released tracks on Pryda and Mouseville (the only ‘outside’ artist to do so) and a varied and vast list of other labels.. Bedrock, Saved, NRK, Cr2, Toolroom, Renaissance, Great Stuff, Positiva, EQ Recordings, Factomania, Little Mountain, Curfew Nervous, Ego Records.. the list goes on.

At the heart of his work lies his own label Oosh, which over the course of the last three years has landed him two BBC Essential New Tunes and two Beatport overall top ten hits. Pete Tong also named ‘JMJ’ (2007) and ‘Sirena’ (2008) his ‘top tunes of the summer.

The label has expanded to include the cream of house and techno producers such as Wally Lopez, Rene Amesz, DJ Yellow, Noir, Jim Rivers, Juan Sanchez, King Unique, Alan Fitzpatrick and Saeed Younan and the first Paolo Mojo ‘Ten To One’ compilation release will follow in February 2011. His associated podcast Ooshcast has become one of the most popular downloads around since its launch in December 2009.

Its no surprise then, that he was name checked as one of the hottest producers of the year in 2008 by Pete Tong on BBC Radio One, and has scored two well received Essential mixes for Radio One already.

On the compilation front he has been described by IDJ Magazine as ‘the master of the mix cd’ For evidence of this look no further than his award winning Balance 009 for EQ Recordings, now regarded as something of a classic mix compilation, or his Renaissance Digital 001.

With an astonishing work ethic in the studio and his endless special re-edits, he’s an innovative DJ whose enviable technical ability and a thriving, huge loyal underground fanbase ensure that he will remain a star of the scene for many years to come.

Is he really Swedish?  The answer is unmistakably yes.  Egil’s career began as a club DJ in Scandinavia and Europe. In the 80s, Egil created an overnight buzz on L.A. radio on KROQ-FM, breaking many alternative artists including NIRVANA, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, and UB40.  He continued his manic devotion to new music in the 90s as Music Director at MARS-FM, then as founder of GROOVE RADIO, dedicated to club and DJ culture with artists such as MOBY, FATBOY SLIM, and THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS.  Today, Swedish Egil is soaring ever higher on GROOVERADIO.COM and as DJ/Artist spinning at top clubs and events, and remixing records for Paul Oakenfold’s PERFECTO label.  You can also catch Egil’s distinctive radio voice nationwide on Sirius XM Radio and as co-host of weekly mixshow “Powertools” (Power 106FM Los Angeles).

As part of seminal production teams Liberty City, Murk, and Funky Green Dogs, he boasts hits – Billboard chart-toppers as well as underground smashes – in every decade, every trend, and every market. “Some Lovin’,” “Fired Up,” and “Dark Beat” are more than just tracks: They are moments, shared by clubbers worldwide. They’re the kind of moments Oscar still creates at Space Miami, his hometown superclub, where he’s been a resident DJ for a staggering eight years – coming full circle after a globetrotting career.

Oscar and longtime friend and production partner Ralph Falcon grew up in a Miami enlivened by the fresh spirit of hip-hop. “Break dancing, graffiti and the music that went along with it: That’s really what got me into DJ-ing in the first place,” he says. By the age of 12, he was already spinning at school dances.

Oscar and Ralph started working together at the end of high school, blending the sounds of their youth with the beginnings of house, like Ten City and Blaze; and the darker Euro bands of the time, like Depeche Mode and New Order. “We were always big on doing our own sound, with our own feeling and vibe in every aspect of it; from the way we mixed things to the sounds we chose,” says Oscar. “I remember being obsessed with that for years, and then people started to listen.”

The early years bore some of the work for which they’re still best known, like often imitated, never duplicated vocals “Some Lovin’,” “If You Really Love Someone,” and “Reach For Me” (Tribal). Upon their release in 1993, the pair became instant superstars. “Europe kind of grabbed us,” says Oscar, so they spent a good amount of time touring overseas, eventually visiting every major and minor outpost of the global dance scene, including Zouk Singapore, Ministry Of Sound London, and Stereo Montreal.

“Fired Up!” (Twisted), their biggest hit ever, followed in 1996. It topped the Billboard Dance chart, and even cracked the Top 100, peaking at No. 80. They would go on to remix countless major pop artists, from Madonna to Cher to Donna Summer; and appear on mainstream outlets like MTV and Top Of The Pops. The boys also cut two complete Funky Green Dogs albums for major label MCA, “Star” (1999) and “Super California” (2001). But their own measures of success were still decidedly underground: “Once Junior Vasquez played our records at Sound Factory [in New York], we felt like we could retire, and at that point we were like 20,” says Oscar.

In March 2000, Space opened in downtown Miami with Oscar as the Saturday night resident, just as the world was paying its annual visit for Winter Music Conference. The club – with its cavernous main room, pummeling German sound system and nitrogen blasts – was the talk of dance world, and the legend of Oscar’s residency began to grow.

The year 2003 was a big one. Oscar released the “Live @ Space” (Star 69) compilation, and won the Club World Award for “Best Resident DJ” (which he won again in 2007). Murk set a new Billboard Dance chart record, with five No. 1’s in a single year: Four singles from their self-titled artist album on Tommy Boy Records, and “Dark Beat” (Twisted), tribal house’s first real vocal anthem, which found its way from dance floors onto mainstream radio. “We came up with ‘Dark Beat’ in about 15 minutes. Whenever things come that quickly, you know there’s something to them,” says Oscar. “But we didn’t think radio or anthem; we were thinking more like, ‘Oh man, Danny Tenaglia’s gonna be all over this!’”

In 2006, Oscar became one of Pacha New York’s only non-NY-based monthly residents, strengthening his bond with his home-away-from-home, and its rich dance history. He released a second installment in the Space series in 2007, starting new relationships with Nervous Records in the U.S. and CR2 in the U.K. CR2 also snapped up the Murk catalog, and commissioned new remixes of the classic tracks, including Paul Woolford’s takes on “If You Really Love Someone” and “Reach For Me.” And in 2008, after nearly two decades making music, Oscar released out his first solo album, “Innov8” (Nervous).

Even though his passion for music creation is undeniable, it’s in his DJ booth where Oscar feels most at home. “On the music side, I’ve felt pretty energized lately, because the changes in the industry really enable you to be a lot more experimental and take more chances,” he says. “But DJ-ing to me always comes first: I really believe in it as an art form. Having a residency like Space, with a regular crowd, it’s the ultimate.”

Originally from Los Angeles, DJ Kam started his music career as a local house party DJ in the early 90′s at a young age and progressed to the Hollywood club scene in 1994. He has performed at the most renowned nightclubs & festivals in the world, for promotion companies and labels including: Go Ventures, Funky Tekno Tribe, Radio Music Awards, Saturday Night Sessions, Ministry of Sound and Hed Kandi just to name a few. You can find live dj sets and remixes regularly featured on Cable TV, XM/SIRIUS Satellite, Internet & FM Radio Broadcasts in addition to multiple original label releases since 97 on Vinyl, CD and Digital Downloads. Kam feels mixing & producing allows him the opportunity to take the listener on an audio journey.
