Happy Monday! Apologies if you tried to log on the site this morning.. My website decided it hates mondays and didn’t want to get up today and was down for a few minutes. So in return, I bring you a new post! Happy accidents are always the best and the photos came out with this dark, moody background which made the dress really pop. I’m so pleasantly surprised at the quality of these jacquard Asos dresses. They are under 200 and look so unique!

Hey, gorgeous things! I’m excited to show you these photos because they are just brimming with color! It’s amazing what a little greenery can do especially when it’s carved into cheeky little animal shapes. White seems to be the new nude this season and these shoes are only $39. Usually I would put a flesh tone on my feet with something so busy, but a pop of white feels extra fresh right now.

Toile is such a classic print and when I saw first saw it I thought of a scene from Pride & Prejudice where Keira Knightly takes shelter from the rain under The Temple of Apollo and rejects Mr. Darcy’s proposal. It’s one of my favorite scenes because it’s so visually stunning. Beautiful architecture can be so powerful and has a way of bringing out certain emotions and a sense of awe. I love seeking places out and creating my own moments.

You know summer is on the horizon when you forget that you can only really shoot at the magic hour in order to avoid overexposure. It’s such a welcomed problem because it means longer days, warmer temperatures, sun-kissed skin and lots of optimism! Here’s so endless summers!

Happy Mother’s Day! This is always such a special family weekend because my mom’s birthday and my brother’s birthday both fall within the same week. Plus, my sister-in-law is a new mom and has one on the way so there is a lot to celebrate! It’s a weekend that also always starts the countdown to Memorial Day Weekend and I’ve already started accumulating some cute beach attire.

My mom takes most of the photos on my blog and she’s been there to help me through this journey from the beginning and I couldn’t be more appreciative of everything that she does. She fills my life with inspiration, motivation and unconditional love. We are not only family but also best friends and I just could not live a fulfilling life without her!

Happy Wednesday! Maybe it was the Derby last weekend, but my love for hats has been completely reignited. This one has such an interesting and beautiful shape to it and really has the legs to go from an event that requires a fancy headpiece to the beach with a flowy dress or pair of cutoffs. It will definitely be my summer beach hat!

I just love all of the texture going on with the bottom of the dress, the shoes, and the background. This style of dress is so universally flattering because it really makes the waist look super tiny while the pleats distract attention away from problem areas below the midsection. Win!

Hello, you gorgeous things! I don’t usually post the same outfit twice but sometimes I shoot so many pictures that I can’t actually narrow them down. It’s a process of editing and telling a story and sometimes too many pictures is just..well..too many! I wanted to show you some of the ones that didn’t make the cut the first time around.

I’m sort of in a phase where I feel most creative finding locations that inspire me and dressing around them instead of trying to keep up with posting #ootd streetwear. It’s where I really began with my blog and it’s time to get back to the roots of what excited me about this crazy world rather than getting caught up in who is doing what brand partnership and posting just to post.

Happy Thursday! An off-the-shoulder dress is a sure-fire way to take a dress up a notch in the sexiness department. I like that this one gives you enough slack to also wear it on your shoulders if you should decide you want to break out into dance spontaneously or raise your arms up at all. Now, onto the shoes. You wouldn’t believe me if I told you that these were on the sale rack last season, but since I have yet to buy a designer pair of shoes full price maybe ever in my life, you can take my word for it. Chalk up another win on the shoe sale scorecard.

Feeling Blue

Happy Hump Day! I was in LA looking for shoes for a Fall shoot and stumbled on these blue beauties. I’m normally not a bright cobalt blue person but they add such a strong pop of color and can really change an outfit. I prefer to throw them on with something unexpected or match them to bring out something else blue in my outfit (see the last post ‘Butterflies‘, I had these on with the dress!). I thought about returning them after the shoot, but I saw the potential in them to become a great transition shoe for me. I can wear them now until it gets hot and then I’ll break them out again for Fall, since this will be a prominent color in the fall 2013 palette. Here are a few more affordable blue finds:

Hello, lovelies. I’m a big fan of the ponytail and usually it’s up higher on my head or in some kind of messy bun because I just have SO much hair to handle. I really wish I was one of those girls that could have a perfect top knot or some fancy braid thing, but the truth is, I just like to grab a hair tie and go. My hair changes each season and right now it’s transitioning and doesn’t want to be told what to do… I’m looking forward to the humid summer months when it curls naturally and I can just let it run free. How do you handle your fickle hair periods?
