The New Year has started. Sad and Joyous.

Hey everyone.

I'm crying as I begin to write this post.

Things in my life have been so hectic and emotional since Thanksgiving. My husband and I were in Disney World with my parents, my sister + her family and her in-laws for Thanksgiving. Though we all had the best time ever in Disney World, my aunt was back in Louisiana with my 90 yr old grandma (MawMaw).

MawMaw fell and broke her hip the day before Thanksgiving, had surgery on Thanksgiving then went to rehab. We thought things were going well until the Tuesday before Christmas she got an infection. She was back in the hospital and stopped eating. Eric and I were able to speak to her one last time before she went to sleep due to the medicine the doctors gave her. We celebrated Christmas in the hospital on Christmas Eve and drove back to Houston that night.

As hopeful as I was when seeing her in the hospital, I knew that would be the last time I spoke to her.
MawMaw passed away December 29, 2011.

We went back to my Aunt's house in Louisiana New Years weekend. MawMaw's funeral was scheduled for January 2nd.

New Years day Eric's and my dog Chip managed to get out of my aunt's house. We looked for him for hours and put up lost posters. We were so hopeful he would be okay because he always stays on the sidewalk. One of my aunt's neighbors, a guy about Eric's age, just saw Chip walking past and yelled at me that he was right around the corner.

The neighbor darted around the corner for Chip, and probably scared him. Chip ran out into the street and was hit by a car. We didn't see him get hit, but the neighbor did. Eric picked Chip up and his heart was still beating for about 5 seconds before he passed away in Eric's arms. He passed away so quickly, but I'm glad he knew we were there for him. Chip was our baby for 6.5 years, and we had to say goodbye so painfully quick and unexpectedly.
Chip passed away January 1, 2012.

It is still tough as it has only been just over 3 weeks and 2 weeks since I said goodbye to MawMaw and Chip.

Eric and I are still coping with Chip not waking up with us and always wanting to play each morning before we take off for work, and he would always wait on the stairs for us when we would come home from work.

Though that is tough and we are still heartbroken, we are looking forward to welcoming our first child.

A baby boy!

His estimated due date is March 28, 2012. We only have a couple of months left and are excited about his arrival. We were taking weekly photos of my bump progression, but many weeks throughout the holidays were not taken due to other events.

I haven't painted my nails in a very long time as Eric has practically banned me from nail polish. He is so worried about the baby being exposed even though I only use approved polishes. :o/

Hiya folks! I tell you what, it has been way too long. I haven't painted my nails like I love to in several months. Exciting things have been going on in my life and my husband has been pushing me to actually get work done in our house. I'll have a few photos by the end of the coming week of before and afters.

Anyhow. I finally had the drive to put polish on my nails. It is either summer or winter here in Houston so I went with a winter-inspired look.

The two colors I used are Chanel Blue Rebel and China Glaze's lovely winter color, Tinsel Town!

One coat of Blue Rebel with one coat of Tinsel Town.

I used snowflakes from Dashica Beauty plate #SdP-A18. I purchased this a very long time ago and I've noticed her plates are now rectangular. She has a lot to choose from, and I originally looked into these plates because of the many different Sanrio characters she has.

Australian brand piCture pOlish has deemed today blog fest. Lots of bloggers all over the world will be showcasing colors from this brand's color menu. piCture pOlish is also known for carrying Ozotic Pro Polishes. I'm so excited to have received Metallic Mush. I love rose gold, and have two other polishes quite similar to Metallic Mush. I'll post comparisons in the future.

"Watch out this maybe magic!" I found that a little humorous. I didn't quite get it, maybe because it is so shiny?

The one thing I know about piCture pOlish's Metallic Mush is the quality. Two coats and you've got full coverage. My all time favorite color is Bombshell, and Metallic Mush is right up there with it. I really think this color would flatter all skin tones.

What do you all think about rose gold metallics? The rosiness is subtle in Metallic Mush, and is why I think this color could easily flatter all skin tones.

I felt like sporting ombré nails today. Seeing as it is summer, I felt mermaid inspired colors would be a good idea. XD

Jungle is a peacock blue jelly with a greenish gold shimmer while the other three are frosty colors.
Mermaid to Order is a turquoise-y teal that flashes a deep watery blue color.
HGR01 is a greenish gold color that flashes the same deep watery blue color as Mermaid to Order.
Peridot is a golded olive that flashes a blue-green color.

I applied two coats of all three.

I just had to have Mermaid to order. I got Missha because I thought the bottle was adorable, and it turns out the brush is just like the crazy large Sally Hansen brushes. I picked up Peridot because that is my birthstone. As for Jungle, I received it from the lovely Edita of AllYouDesire (Yes the one with the totally awesome nails).

Absolutely Shore: Is a fabulous pastel sea foam green.

Super Bossa Nova: Is a vibrant shimmery fuchsia. The shimmer is on the soft blue side in the sun, but indoors it translates to a hot pink shimmer.

Braziliant:

Braziliant: Is a vibrant orange with a hint of warm shimmer. After swatching this one I really did not want to remove it, but I had to in order to swatch other colors. After all the swatches were done. I wore Braziliant and Super Bossa Nova as an actual manicure. XD

Smooth Sailing: According to Essie Smooth Sailing is a shimmery lavender blue, but it looks more like periwinkle to me in real life. Nonetheless, it is a gorgeous color! This is definitely one to grab.

I picked up the set at Ulta a while back. It was right after they finished their promotion of buy 2 get one free. I didn't realize it was over, but the sign was still up so they honored the promotion and I had a coupon for 20% off my entire purchase. So I got a pretty darn good deal. I'm not one for sheer colors, but the two sheers would work very well for French manicures.

Better Together:

Better Together | Two Coats

Better Together is a sheer baby pink that smooths out quite nicely. I'm not sure how well the pink would translate on stained nails, but my ring finger has a small silk patch and it isn't too visible. :o)

Made To Honor:

Made To Honor | Two Coats

Made To Honor is a nude sheer and would look great in a french manicure as well. It looked patchy when I started to paint, but it smoothed out very nicely.

Borrowed & Blue:

Borrowed & Blue | Two Coats

Borrowed & Blue is a beautiful opaque pastel blue. The formula was very thick to me and dried very quickly. Though it smooths out, I find it very unforgiving. You can easily see the silk repair patch on my ring finger. This one was the most difficult to apply. :o(

First Dance:

First Dance | Two Coats

First Dance: This eye searing red has a jelly-like texture and glided on like butter. This is one sexy red. The formula is absolute perfection. It hid all the little imperfections and is extremely glossy.

Haul | Paul & Joe Summer 2011 & Waterproof eyeliner PHOTO HEAVY

Hiya folks!

I've had these items items for quite some time and finally took photos! Although my camera is on the fritz I've recently been able to get it to snap photos. Woo!

BeautyHabit.com always has free offers, and for Paul and Joe you can get the cute whale cosmetic bag. Most of these items I got from Beauty Habit with the exception of the waterproof eyeliner. It is from Apothica.com.

I am a big fan of Paul & Joe with the nail polish remover which now takes the #1 spot in my list of top nail polish removers bumping Zoya's Remove+ to the #2 spot. It is much more costly per ounce. Paul & Joe offers one size of polish remover with a cost of around $15.00.

You can probably tell I've already used the polish remover several times. I love it! The formula is fantastic, and the glass bottle is very cute.

The cosmetic bag has two large compartments with whale shaped brass hardware, and the material is almost like a rip-stop nylon.
Doesn't look like it'll hold much? Guess again!!

Everything in their boxes fit! The clear plastic is flat and the outside whale fabric is shaped to contain the items allowing the cosmetic bag to close.

The bronzer is housed in a pretty aqua blue pearlescent compact.

Paul & Joe also has a pink nail color and a red nail color in this limited edition collection, but these three were the ones that caught me. They have Paul & Joe's usual Nail Enamel scent which is a very sweet floral at first, but then softens to be very pleasant in my opinion. The scent is very similar to Anna Sui's polishes, but do not make me sick like the Anna Sui's do.

014 Confetti is packed with colorful and iridescent glitter.

015 Venus is an aqua blue that appears to be the signature color for this collection mixed with glitter. The glitter appeared to be the same mix seen in confetti, but doesn't pop due to being suspended in the milky blue polish. This color is so dreamy!!

016 Mediterranean is a seer blue jelly packed with blue disc glitter and multi sized blue and green-iridescent glitter. Lots of fun, but you have to dig out the large glitter sometimes. I say sometimes because there were times when I didn't try to fish out the glitter and I'd get a good heap of them on my nails. XD

Yay for stampys!! Eric noticed I didn't do any stamping nail art for the past few months, and when he noticed I realized I was getting a little fuddy duddy. So I decided to bust out his favorite color OPI DS Glamour with the center image from plate M56:

Lot of Holo goodness! This is the second Glamour I purchased during a panic of having only 1/8th of a bottle left, and I've gone through 1/3rd of this bottle. Good thing I have two more backups. I hope they last!!
I used Konad's special polish in white for the bows and silver crackle on my ring finger just for more glitz and glamour.

Tell me, has it been a while since you've done stampy designs as well?

ManGlaze Matte-Astrophe over Silver Shatter & Zoya Phoebe

Crackles galore!! Holy smokes this old fashion nail trend is still coming! I really enjoy the major sparklage of silver shatter when glossy so I decided to try out a matte manicure.

I actually like this look. I find manglaze polishes last much longer on me than most. Matte-astrophe cracked a bit over this mani which created a cool effect, and unfortunately would not capture on camera.

What do you all think? It has been a million years since I did some stamping, but I have a mani with Konad up next!
