Theopia Jackson, PhD, is an Executive Clinical Psychology Faculty member who has served in several administrative positions over her 12+ years tenure with Saybrook. In addition, Dr. Jackson is a licensed clinical psychologist at Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland in the Department of Psychiatry. At Children's Hospital, Dr. Jackson provides child, adolescent, and family therapy services; trains psychology interns/fellows students, as well as medical residents; and specializes in working with chronically ill populations, complex trauma and multistressed families. Her practice integrates complementary healing practices and pain management with specific attention to multiculturalism/social justice, quality of life and development across the life span. Dr. Jackson is committed to serving children, adolescents and their families in diverse settings with special interest in the adaptability of western psychological theories and interventions.

LaVera Forbes earned her PhD in Mind-Body Medicine in May 2013, specializing in obesity, the addictive nature of certain foods, and their biochemical impact on the mind and body. She has presented her research to physicians, nutritionists, and other health and wellness professionals. LaVera is currently designing a business model to deliver obesity and food addiction products and services to help reduce the obesity epidemic.
Carrie Phelps is completing her PhD in Mind-Body Medicine, specializing in healthcare and organizational systems. Co-founder of Intrinsic Connection, a wellness consulting firm, she has also served as a consultant for the past 10 years on the development and implementation of national wellness initiatives for YMCAs throughout the United States. A member of the NWI Board, she will be presenting on several topics at this conference.
Char Conlin is completing her PhD at the School of Mind-Body Medicine. She recently co-founded a wellness consulting firm with one of her Saybrook cohort members that specializes in building a bridge between leading-edge wellness strategy and real-world execution for successful, long-term results. At this conference, Char will be co-presenting a break-out session titled “Contrary to Popular Practice: Building Wellness Programs for the 21st Century.

Saybrook's residential conferences are an important part of our hybrid face-to-face and online learning experience. They nurture intellectual creativity, enrich the educational environment, and foster faculty and peer mentoring. Each conference offers exploration and enriched learning in a variety of topics.
Dr. Eric Willmarth is a past-President of APA Division 30, the Society of Psychological Hypnosis. He is a training consultant for the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis, and a Fellow of the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. He has presented workshops on clinical hypnosis, biofeedback, and pain management in the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia. He is also a videographer, who has created video biographies of pioneers in the field of hypnosis, internationally, available at ewillmarth.com. Dr. Willmarth is also the Director of Training for the School of Mind-Body Medicine.
Darlene Viggiano, Ph.D. (MFT), teaches Basic and Intermediate Hypnosis for the School of Mind-Body medicine, having earned her doctorate in 2010 from Saybrook University. Dr. Viggiano is a California-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the Intensive Outpatient Program at Kaiser Permanente, South Valley Centre in the Adult Psychiatry Department. She serves on Kaiser’s Regional Best Practices committee for Dual Diagnosis, facilitates groups for Adults Molested as Children and for Dual Diagnosis populations, as well as offering psycho-education on Anger Management. She also facilitates Mindfulness Movement skills sessions, in addition to providing therapy to a regular patient caseload.
