Antonio Orlando Rodríguez nació en Ciego de Avila, Cuba, en 1956. Escritor, editor y periodista. Licenciado en Periodismo en la Universidad de La Habana. Ha residido en Costa Rica, Colombia y, actualmente, en Estados Unidos. Es autor de la novela para adultos Aprendices de brujo (Alfaguara, 2002, Rayo/HarperCollins, 2005), de los libros de cuentos Strip-tease (1985) y Querido Drácula (1989) y de la obra de teatro El León y la Domadora (1998). Su bibliografía incluye también investigaciones literarias como Literatura infantil de América Latina (1993), Panorama histórico de la literatura infantil en América Latina y el Caribe (1994), Puertas a la lectura (1993) y Escuela y poesía (1997). A lo largo de su carrera ha publicado numerosas obras para niños y jóvenes, entre las que se encuentran El rock de la momia, Mi bicicleta es un hada y otros secretos por el estilo, La isla viajera, ¡Qué extraños son los terrícolas! y La maravillosa cámara de Lai-Lai.
