I’d assume that most of our readers have some very basic understanding of how the music industry works, am I right? At least enough to understand that the usual story goes: Work crazy hard till your hair falls out (ladies included) and maybe then one day you might get somewhere. Well thankfully I’m not actually that bitter, it’s hard get that way when you see  dope artists getting theirs which brings me to the whole point of the post, Scatterblog favorites the Mad Kids.

We first started receiving their tracks through our inbox a while back and since then they’ve continued to step up their game massively with every promo. Now they’ve really making waves, attracting the attention on industry heavyweights such as Mowgli and Sinden so if you’ve been sleeping then it’s really time to get your learn on. They have a new ep out on It_Tizz records titled Trans-Euro Express and it’s a damn fine representation of their sound. We’re not giving you the tracks though, go to the store (buy) and give them a little bit of support. (before you sigh with frustration remember how expensive it was when you had to buy 12’s?). What we can give you here though is something else from their back catalog, a dope little tropical house number named Mumboi. Enjoy that 808 cowbell!

There’s definitely a level of excitement that has been floating around the Scatterblog camp surrounding this release. Every remix and original has really surprised and amazed us, and we feel like we’ve really raised the bar another step higher. From DirtyBeats’ percussive, enormous House tunes to the French Fries Minimal journey, the hype as fuck Tom Piper mix, the Tropical party vibes of Swick’s remix or the Ghetto Hip Hop bang that is Slap & Dash’s remix.

The first tune is their remix of Crimen’s “Bass & Diamonds” featuring Fresh Girls which is a more on a sorta 80s Miami Bass remixed 2010 kinda tip than their usual style. However the sound is still all there – the big bass, the blips the percussion, the dirty beats…

Anyone that knows me will know that i have been completely taken by the UK club sounds at the moment, especially the funky bashment movement. London DJ/production duo Warrior One have been pushing the funky bashment sound recently and have a really solid debut EP that’s coming out soon. The EP includes the carnival hype ‘King Riddim‘ feat the amazing Lady Chann, i play this tune every chance i get and it never disappoints, will be a big tune in 2010. Next is the Ninjaman sampling “Bad Like Jimmy Cliff“, a ode to Jamaican ska legend that really gets the bass bins moving. The rest of the EP starts to cater for the late night heads showing they can rave with “The Machine” and “Turn The Music Up“, both getting huge support from Annie Mac.

In case you don’t know already, Scattermusic will be presenting the one and only Douster this Saturday (here) and well, we’re super exited. If I had a coin for every time someone sung praises for Douster on this blog then I’d be a rich MF so I’ll resist going there for now, just know that this party will be off the hook! While we all gear up for this one i’ll be doing a live tropical themed mix on Kiss Fm from 1-2pm tomorrow (Australian eastern standard time). I’ve never done this before but hey, 2010 just seems to be kickin’ off in mad fashion so I feel the need. Here is the official Lewis CanCut January chart presented in a top 5, Hi Fidelity style. Maybe the reason I’m so exited is that it’s local tracks that seem to be killin’ it best right now. Makes sense, who better to produce for a Melbourne dance floor besides a Melbourne dj right? Anyway making it brief, the Slap n Dash drum dub of Ja’ Maan! by Edu K is doing wonders for me right now. It’s as if they’ve bottled up a little bit of the insane energy from their show and given it over for others to use. Also, recent Scattermusic addition Swick has created a monster with his remix for the upcoming Dirty Beats release, believe me it’ll be big. Whenever I play it people come to the decks asking “what kind of music is this”.

Well we just produced our own festival last week with the full help and support of the Espy. Now its time to rock someone elses. So chuffed about this one. Scatterblog Soundsytem has just been asked to headline the dj’s on the sat night at pretty much our favourite music festival in the country. For those of you not familiar Golden Planes is the little bro to Meredith Music Fest. Both share the same venue and orginisational team, and both are always at the forefront of music culture. I did the same set in ‘07 for MMF and had pretty much the time of my life cant wait to share the stage this time with my boys. Im not sure what the deal is with tix for this one but it sells out every year to the point where u need to get on a ballot the year before. Check this years line-up here.

We will be rocking a crazy show with all 5 of the Scatterblog acts (Slap & Dash, Scattermish, Mu-Gen, Mat Cant & Lewis Cancut) playing together for 3 hrs. We have many a surprise up our sleeves including props, dancers, sets and all sorts of bat shit crazy stuff………….. Can u say EPIC!!!!!

I was going through some pics on my computer today and found the stage plot we sent through to the festival. Its piss funny, it looks like my 8yo niece drew it or som’n, spelling mistakes and all, but you can blame me for that one. As you can see we will be pumping some heavy duty sonic sound with all that gear on the night.

Just thought I would share the pic along with a cheeky edit of the new Hollertronix Party Squad “Pull Up” (buy here) I did a few months back. Not much done to the original except some more hype added and a few cut ups in the second drop. Plus I also attached the Shaun D “Mad Drums” joint on the tail of it for shows, you know, so i can bump straight into another blend.. It was made in like an hour so no hating on the lameness aight!

The other two international guests to be featured tomorrow at Scatterfest are NASA and Mowgli – 1 has featured at an Scatterblog party earlier in the year, and the other has been a Scatterblog favourite since close to when we started out.

NASA’s debut album “The Spirit Of Apollo” got all kindsa heads turning (i think they were also most talked about act of 2009 on hypem?), featuring a whole range of big name vocalists. Their live show is filled with cut up and remashed music and visuals, some space costumes and accessories and a whole lotta hype – producing a huge individualistic and exciting show.

Mowgli on the other hand has been some1 who’s music Scatterblog has been in love with since way back when. His style has been ever evolving and he now really leads the market with his label Deadfish and their midget house sound.

Both of their shows will be explosive for totally different reasons. TONITE YO!
