The  film only began production in 2006 when CGI and motion capture technology was advance enough for his “vision” for Avatar. Since then, Cameron has advanced the use of 3-D cameras, visual effects and motion capture to realize his fantastic vision.

The director planned to create photo-realistic computer-generated characters by using motion capture animation technology, on which he had been doing work for the past 14 months. Unlike previous performance capture systems, where the digital environment is added after the actors’ motions have been captured, Cameron’s new virtual camera allows him to observe directly on a monitor how the actors’ virtual counterparts interact with the movie’s digital world in real time and adjust and direct the scenes just as if shooting live action… Avatar Wiki

Irish Director Gary Shore has come up with a beautiful mix of legend and sword fighting set at post apocalyptic Japan. Two years in the making shot in Slovenia using Red Cam, “The Cup of Tears” unfortunately has no distributor and still in development so everyone has to wait before seeing the film in the big screen.

Synopsis

The Cup of Tears follows a scorned geisha who creates a magical cup made of tears that causes any man who drinks from it to fall into a permanent sleep. One night the cup is stolen, setting off a chain of events that threatens civil war amongst the clans. Taro, a gifted samurai, sets out to find the cup and one who can break the spell.

Gary Shore is a director and illustrator. Since graduating from the National Film School in 2006, he has created moving images across a broad range of projects, both commercial and non commercial in a committed and ongoing journey to explore the visual language. Previous clients have included EMI, Warner Brothers, FM 104, Scorpio France, Vogue, Nokia, Montenegro Ministry of Tourism and Heineken amongst others.
