Sands http://www.scottsandsalive.com/?p=446 I figured that I should check in to let everyone know what I have been doing. I’ve been ill – very ill – since December. Bouts with dehydration, pseudomonas, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, sepsis and you-name-it nearly took me out – NEARLY. I even succumbed and got a feeding tube! Yes, I finally gave in after being dead-set against it for all these years. But I would’ve been dead without the dreaded tube in my gut, so there you go. I have always said that I will use an arsenal to fight Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and a g-tube is yet another weapon. And somehow, during all of the commotion in the hospital, I lost the mobility of my left hand – my driving hand for my wheelchair! So, as of right now, I am pretty much a prisoner of my bed until the physical therapy and wheelchair modifications kick in. I am trying and working really hard to get through all of the changes, which is not easy, but I would like everyone to know that I will be back. Thank you to everyone who has been supportive during these trying times. I don’t know when my return will be official, but I will keep everyone posted, and please keep me in your prayers in the meantime.
