I was trying to come up with a name for my creative space and I was using my hubby as a sounding board. For days I would throw idea's out there but none seemed to stick. Finally my hubby came up with The Scraphole. His reasoning? Every time I go near my scraproom it sucks me in and I'm never heard from again. So, hence The Scraphole.

I needed a card that was simple and quick so I could make 18 of them fast. These worked up quick as only the embossing took time. I was pretty pleased with the way they came out. The stamps are from The Angel Company, other than that used a little Stickles and some white embossing powder.

Here is a second version I did but they were to labor intensive to work up quickly. I'll save this one for someone special. The stamps, dies and most of the idea are thanks to www.tayloredexpressions.com. They are SO creative over there. Here is a layout I submitted for an online challenge on Let's Scrap http://letsscrap.ning.com/. The contest is picking out a sketch and then designing a layout following that sketch. Here is the sketch I picked:

And here is the layout I completed:

If you get a chance you really need to stop by and visit Let's Scrap. These 2 layouts are from one of my recently completed projects.

My grandkids came to Texas for a visit last month and we had tons of fun. I had to make them a scrapbook to store all these wonderful memories in. During their time here we went to Austin for a few days and visited the hot spots including the bats sightings. We had dinner on the "batio" (patio) at TGIF which provided us with a prime spot to watch the bats come out at dusk. It was really cool.

We packed our agenda so full while the kids were here that they sometimes caught some nap time or quiet time whenever and wherever they could hence the second layout. What fun we had and what great memories my heart holds.

I'll be visiting more frequently in the coming weeks to share my other projects. No more slacking off for me!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You Cards...

I had a very nice Christmas this year and received wonderful gifts from friends and clients. I didn't want to send out plain generic thank you cards so I made my own. I have used this design before and love that it is easy and quick yet pretty. In total I made 16 cards and the most time I spent was waiting for the craft ink to dry.

I used one of the flourish stamps from the Artsy Elements stamp set by The Angel Company. Stamped the image using white craft ink on black cardstock and added different flowers. I didn't want to use brads so I stickled the center of each flower instead. A bit of ribbon and presto done!

For a Sweet Girl

A little something for a little somebody.

Made this for a "thinking of you" gift. I've been busy crafting but haven't thought about posting to my blog. Anyway, here is my 2010 Christmas card assortment. I started off with intentions of stamping and coloring all my card images but that ended when I realized I wouldn't be able to get 50 cards done before Christmas. Here is a sampling.

Here are a few up close and personal. The picture of the deer is one I actually took in our backyard and then made him festive. The Cuttlebug card I used embossing powder after I versamarked the embossing folder.

This is what I had thought all my 50 cards would be when I started. I color my cards using pencils and this would of taken me forever to finish them all.

Hope all of you have a very merry Christmas!

I recently joined a new church and an elder at the church took me under her wing. Miss Mae has been with the church since it's conception and she has helped me along in my "faith journey". I wanted to do something for her so she would know that I appreciate her. I made this bookmark "thank you" card.

The card is not my invention, the credit goes to those creative souls at Splitcoast Stampers (were you can find directions and plenty of other examples). The part of the card decorated with crosses is perforated and tears off to create a bookmark. A quick, simple card that would work great for any reason/occasion.

Miss Mae loved her bookmark and it now holds a place in her bible.

Happy Mother's Day

Been awhile since I've blogged. Honestly my mojo had taken a siesta on me. A few projects managed to get finished but nothing real exciting.

This is a Mother's Day gift for my mother-in-law. I started with a canvas kit from Quick Quotes though aside from the canvas pieces I think I only used maybe 4 or 5 die cuts. It came together quickly and I think she'll be pleased.

I hope you're able to click on the picture and read the poem, it is really sweet.

Happy Mother's Day all!

Another Christmas Present Completed

I'm working here trying to complete my Christmas presents. I have a zealous agenda and I'm hoping to get to everything and get everything done.

A while back I posted about my client finding an abandon fawn on the road. She nurtured this girl (even taking her to the vet once) like a baby.

Finally the fawn was old enough to roam on her own though she'd come back every evening to feed and sleep. The goal was to eventually release her back to her natural home.

One night Juanita Faye failed to return for her evening feeding. They searched for her for awhile and finally found her dead. Apparently a predator had taken advantage of Juanita Faye's innocence.

In honor of Juanita Faye I made this frame up as a Christmas gift for my client. I hope I did justice to her memory.

Christmas Cards Are Done!

I finished 32 Christmas cards in 2 days. I'm still about 5 short but I need to get on to other projects I want to make for Christmas gifts. The majority of my cards were stamped and colored...

thought some I used clear glitter stickers. The stickers were left over from another project and they worked great for a quick card idea.

I put my Cuttlebug to work also. After a while I got tired of stamping and coloring and wanted to speed up the project and the Cuttlebug allowed me to do just that.

This is my main card for this season as we live and work on a wildlife ranch. I try to find a image that relates to our lifestyle and this one with the deer worked. The inside of the card I computer generated "Merry Christmas to our deer friends". I found myself sadly faced with the the need to make two sympathy cards. I always imagine how I would feel when I opened the card. I whipped up two cards for him, one from me and one from "my" dog. I have a miniture pincher that is often referred to as "the red dog". Hubby isn't particularly fond of my dog so I thought something unconventional would work.

I colored the dogs card with Prisma pencils and used some orderless mineral spirits for blending. For my card I used markers and a bit of a sparkly glitter pen. I worked together the image from 3 different stamp sets. The hat is a Studio G stamp, the heart balloon is from an Angel Company set called Artsy Owls and the guy is also from TAC and the set is called Little Friends.

Happy birthday honey, hope you have a wonderful day!

Thanks Sue!

Have I ever mentioned how wonderful my sister is? I just returned home from a vacation spent with my family in Michigan. Whenever I'm in Michigan my scrappin' sister, Sue, always jam packs a scrapping agenda for me and this visit was no different.

I was able to go to the Great American Scrapbook Convention compliments of sis. This is the first time I've been to such an event and it was like a toddlers Christmas for me! We spent hours looking and shopping. Sue also took me to Archiver's, Live Laugh Love and Scrap and Scrapbook Emporium, I mean truly what more could I ask for. She always treats me like a princess.

I wanted to do something for her to show her how special she is to me. I put together this canvas layout that I wanted to share with you. The pictures I used are from this past visit. I'm excited to send it to her. I wish everyone could be blessed with a sister like mine!

Happy Mother's Day!

Okay, I'm a little late in posting. I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. This is a little gift I made for my mother-in-law. The colors actually do not show up well in the photo. I purchased this kit for Valentines day and never made it up so I decided to use it for Mother's Day and it worked out well. The paper is pink and red with just a hint of orange and yellow. I used the orange as my accent color to pull the project away from the Valentine's theme. I filled the box (which is from the bare naked line) with pink and orange colored Hershey kisses. My MIL loved it and that was what was most important ;-)

Happy Housewarming!

I made this layout and framed it for a housewarming gift for my son and daughter-in-law. I painted the wood frame and it doesn't look so good in the picture but it looks good in person. You can't tell that I also added a little glitter pen on the scroll and on the printed paper.

The saying is what prompted me to do the frame. I lifted it from a layout I found in Creative Scrapper's gallery. Sorry that I don't know the name of the author so I can give proper credit where credit is due.

Time to wrap it up and mail it out. Hope they like it.

BFF

Gosh, it has been a long time since my last entry. Jeff and I recently went to Florida to visit his Mom. While we were there we spent an afternoon with his niece, Marissa, bowling. It was great fun and I wanted to send Marissa this frame to share the memories with her. She is just 8 years old and quite the "poser" when it comes to getting her picture taken. Thought I'd share the finished project with you.

Project 365 Week Three

One more week of 2009 gone! But...one more week documented for my grandson or perhaps my great grandchildren. I spent this particular week in Michigan visiting my family. My Mom celebrated her 85th birthday. It wasn't hard at all taking a picture a day for this week, it was harder deciding what picture to use.

I think we all have the idea of how I translated Project 365 using my stash so I won't be posting anymore layouts. Unless of course a week is so exciting that I need to share it here LOL! Lets keep up with the challenge this project holds. Only 342 pictures to go.
