DIY Halloween Treat Bags

This past week I was testing out some new adhesives by 3M's Scotch brand and decided to make some Halloween treat bags. My 5 year old son, Lochlan, had a great time making some too! (See his project below.)

For this project I tried both the new 3M Scotch Adhesive Dot Roller and the Wrinkle-Free Glue Stick. They both worked great for this project. The Scotch Adhesive Dot Roller has 49 feet of adhesive and can be easily refilled with a new cartridge when needed. The Scotch Wrinkle-Free Glue Stick glides on smoothly without wrinkling or crumpling the paper. It is also acid-free.

To begin this Halloween treat bag project, here is where you can find the tem plate. I love the little cut-out handle on them as well as the fact that they are really easy to put together. Just cut, fold and glue. To attach the edges together, I used the Scotch Adhesive Dot Roller.

To decorate the bags, I used the Scotch Wrinkle-Free Glue Stick to glue on a pom-pom fringe from Maya Road. To make the pinwheel, simply cut a strip of paper and fold like an accordian and then bend and glue edges together. Mine is a fan shape, so not attached all the way around. Instead, this one is glued to a separate fan-shaped paper piece for support. On top of that I attached a vintage button.

On the back of the treat bag, I used the Scotch Wrinkle-Free Glue Stick to glue on a felt frame cut-out. You could easily print a child's name for inside this frame as well.

And here is how Lochlan's bag turned out. Here is quite proud of it!

Tallyscrapper – Design Team Call

Tallyscrapper is looking for 3 Creative & Fun designers for our NEXT Design Team! The challenge will be posted on September 15, 2010 and ends on September 30, 2010. You will need to Submit 3 NEW layouts for this challenge, these entries NEED to be never before seen!! (You may post your Tallyscrapper Creations on your personal Blogs though). This is a three-month term (October - December), so PLEASE be sure you will be able to commit to this term 100%!

Design team members will receive one FREE Kit and 40% off the other 2 kits during their term and will receive 10% discount in the store. Each designer will be showcased on our Tallyscrapper Blog with a personal interview.

DT members will be required to create a minimum of 4 projects with the Monthly Kit (Layouts, cards or altered Projects), create atleast 1 challenge per month and promote Tallyscrapper on personal Blogs and other websites. Designers will also be responsible for normal DT duties, such as being active on the Message Boards, posting in the galleries and creating a monthly Blog Post.

Scrap Attack Scrapbooking – Contest

Opening Date: Sept. 1st; Closing Date: Sept. 30

Grab a box, a "crate" or even a drawer full of paper because we're kicking September off with a contest! We’d love to see what you are creating with using Crate Paper products so we hope you can join us for a little contest. Listed below are the details:

• Your layout must contain at least 75% Crate Paper products on it.
• Your entry must be new and made specifically for this contest. Layouts that have been previously made or used for other contests or challenges will be ineligible for this contest.
• 1 entry is allowed per person and this is open to US and International designers.
• Deadline for entry is midnight PST on September 30th, 2010 with a winner being announced within a week.
• For those that want an extra challenge – and an extra entry into the drawing – see if you can use the letters in CRATE when creating your layout. Each letter should represent the name of 1 item on your page. You can pick the items as long as they spell CRATE. (i.e. C=cardstock, R=ric rack, A=alphabet, etc.) The options are endless, just be creative.

Coordinates Collection – Design Team Call

We are currently accepting applications for new Designers to join our talented team.

Interested individuals should submit the following information to info@coordinatescollections.com with subject heading “Design Team Call”:

1. Full Name
2. Contact information (address, phone, email)
3. Three (3) projects (layouts, cards and/or altered items) representing your best design work. Jpeg files should be no larger than 500kb.)
4. List of current design teams and time commitments, if applicable.
5. Link to your online gallery (if you do not have one, please include a few extra layouts)
6. Link to your blog, if applicable.
7. Share why you like working with monthly kits and how your style would benefit Coordinates Collections.

Inspired to Scrap – Design Team Call

Inspired to Scrap is looking for designers! No experience on a design team is required and everyone is encouraged to apply. Please join our message board so we can get to know you. The term will be for 3 months (October, November and December 2010).

Designers will be asked to create sample layouts for classes, create blog posts, participate in blog challenges and the message board, help in planning classes, and promote Inspired to Scrap on their blogs and elsewhere.

Let's face it. Our style grows and changes. Sometimes during the transition of our style changing, something either really good comes out of it, or something we just find distasteful. We know there are no RIGHT or WRONG ways to document our lives.. but we DO know when something isn't to our liking on our own pages. Maybe you cut your photos in geometric shapes… maybe the paper wasn't right.

Your challenge this week is to go back in your layouts, and find 1 LO that just wasn't sitting well with you… and DO it OVER! Give it a fresh coat of paint, a face lift if you will… it doesn't mean you have to replace the old one in your album, unless YOU want to.

Really Reasonable Ribbon – Design Team Call

Really Reasonable Ribbon is doing a full design team call and we are looking for 5-6 people. We are looking for talented crafters and artists who love using ribbon, work well with deadlines and have great personalities. If you are a card maker, scrapbooker, hair bow maker, paper crafter, ribbon artist, altered artist or if you do anything fun and unique with ribbon please apply. Our readers are looking for variety, so don't be afraid to show your creative side.

Requirements:
- You must be a versatile crafter who loves to work with ribbon

- You must have an active blog and the ability to take quality pictures and post interesting entries directly to the Really Reasonable Ribbon blog once a week on a set day. We require 5-6 projects per month with one being a tutorial. Also, you must post projects using 'Really Reasonable' ribbon on your own blog and promote Really Reasonable Ribbon whenever possible

- You must link my blog and business on your blog, and participate in and promote special events (usually blog hops) 1-2 times per month

- We ask that you commit to a 6 month term from November 2010 through April 2011

Let's Get Shabby – Challenge & DT Call

It's all about music. We would like to see music papers, bars and notes used on your creation in some way

The time has come for the Let's Get Shabby’s team to grow! If you are a fan of all things shabby and would love to be a part of our team, then here is what you will need to do:

1. Play along with our current Music themed challenge. (post this creation to your blog as usual)

2. Create a new creation inspired by our ‘Gingham and Floral’ Challenge #2 (do not post the ‘Gingham & Floral’ creation on your blog or any galleries until after the successful new DTers have been announced)

3. Email both new projects to the email address here on the Shabby blog along with a link to your blog, a short bio on yourself and your Shabby style. (Both the ‘Gingham and Floral’ Creation and your short bio will be used in your introduction if successful)
