Guy Pearce is Peter 'Weyland' in Ridley Scott's 'PROMETHEUS'!

Ridley Scott recently made a couple of statements giving some insight the much debated connection between Prometheus & his 1979 original Alien. Hungarian movie website FilmSite.hu quoted the director on the topic & also revealed which role Guy Pearce would play. Hit the jump for the details.

Scott: "When the first 'Alien' movie and 'Blade Runner' were made, I thought that in the near future the world will be owned by large companies. This is why we have the Tyrell Corporation in 'Blade Runner', and Weyland-Yutani in 'Alien'. They sent the Nostromo spaceship. The Prometheus is owned by an entrepreneur called Peter Weyland, and is played by Guy Pearce. That's the connection between the two films, and nothing more. Prometheus is a new film, a new world, and is full of new ideas. And of course new monsters as well."

The director also stated to Empire Magazine:

Scott: "It's hard to frighten people. I think it is easier to make people laugh. I know Ricky Gervais will tell me to go fuck myself, but actually it is harder to scare. People are numb to it now. You've got to get dramatically cleverer.I've literally applied everything I know to try to make this a good ride, but mostly a guy hanging from the ceiling really fucking works..."

Jose Padilha's reboot of RoboCop appears to have found its Cop. Deadline reports that Swedish actor Joel Kinnaman [The Killing, Snabba Cash] has been offered the role of Officer Alex Murphy. The movie is a reboot of the 1987 Paul Verhoeven hit which will once again tell the story of a police officer who, after nearly being killed in the line of duty, is rebuilt as a crime-fighting cyborg. Actor Benedict Wong was a guest of comedian Peter Serafinowicz on his BBC 6 Radio show this past Saturday & the actor briefly revealed some info about his role Ravel in Ridley Scott's Prometheus. Is Prometheus a prequel to Alien?

Wong: "Yeah... I don't... it's before, yeah. So it's in old space. Obviously set in the future, and before the time of Alien. Um... I can't really talk about it [laughs]."

Will we see a Xenomorph in Prometheus?

Wong: "So, it's like an alien rom-com of how the mum and dad met."

Prometheus will be shot in 3D, is it comparable to Avatar?

Wong: "Well, if you got very excited about the 3D usage on Avatar, it's gonna be like the next level now. The type of cameras they're using... I mean they're RED cameras, and the technicians that use those cameras are really excited about it."

Ridley likes to combine working in 3D with spectacles.

Wong: "Yeah, occasionally. You know like when you do a take, and what I like asking for is a PPB (personal playback). And so I sat down and put the glasses on, and then Ridley caught me. And you think you're doing something wrong in your dad's office or something. And he was absolutely fine. So I just sat down, just cranked it up... and I mean it looks fantastic."

Wong reveals that he & Scottish actor Emun Elliot's character, Chance, fly the spaceship Prometheus.

Wong: "Michael Fassbender is in it, Noomi Rapace, Kate Dickie, Emun Elliot – we both fly the ship- there’s a little bit of insight. The first day we started... We were all in on the first day, so we were all a bit kind of first day at school. And then when we walked up onto the spaceship, I just remember the first steps I took, and you could hear the metal grill"

Will Smith Set To Reprise Role for Another 'I AM LEGEND' Movie from Warner Bros!

A follow-up to Warners' 2007 blockbuster I Am Legend had been on the cards before but now Deadline report that the studio has closed deals with original Producer Akiva Goldsman & Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment to make another movie. The original took home $150 million domestically & a massive $585.3 million worldwide. Screenwriter Arash Amel has also been hired to pen the script. Deadline: "the intention is for Will Smith to reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville, who was the last man on earth doing battle with a mutated mob in New York City after an apocalyptic man-made virus wiped out the population."

There is no confirmation on how the movie would act within the franchise considering Smith's character demise in the original but signs are that it will not act as a prequel. Will Smith stated the idea on the table three years ago:

Smith: "It's essentially the fall of the last city – the last stand of Manhattan. The movie would be...within the body of the movie D.C. and then Manhattan would fall as the last city. It's a really cool idea trying to figure it out...there's a reason why we have to take a small band and we have to get into D.C. So we have to make our way from New York to D.C. and then back to New York."

Michael Fassbender Set to Portray Celtic Legend 'Cúchulainn' in 'IRISH MYTHS' Movie!

British actor Idris Elba who plays Captain Janek in Ridley Scott's Prometheus is currently doing press rounds for another of his recent efforts, the action movie Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, where he stars alongside Nicolas Cage. NBC Picks Up Bryan Fuller's 'HANNIBAL' TV Series for 13 Episodes based on Thomas Harris' Infamous Character!

Bryan Fuller's TV Series Hannibal has received a direct-to-series order from NBC, who picked up 13 episodes of series based on Thomas Harris' character Hannibal Lecter. Fuller is focusing on the show on damaged FBI profiler Graham instead of Clarice Starling [Jodie Foster in Silence of the Lambs]. Graham is the agent who captured Lecter when he was on his killing spree. The back story between the two characters was alluded to in Harris' Red Dragon & Manhunter. Hit the jump for the details.

EW report that the pilot will likely shoot this summer in preparation for a mid-season release in 2013. The FBI profiler Graham focused initially his investigation into the "Tooth Fairy" murders.

A new image from Snow White and the Huntsman has been released via the movies facebook page. The image features Kristen Stewart as Snow White & Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman in Rupert Sanders’ classic fairy tale re-imagining, a re-telling of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale that features an expanded role for the Huntsman. In the original version he is ordered to take Snow White into the woods & kill her, but now instead lets her go, serving as her mentor, teaching Snow White how to fight & survive against the evil queen. The movie also stars Sam Claflin, Charlize Theron, Noah Huntley, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Steven Graham & Nick Frost.
