July 21, 2010: Adrian Havens Scores Pilot Assignment

Adrian Havens (ProSeries 29) signed an agreement to write the pilot for an animated series.

The project is being done by Crescent Fawn Studios and is based upon characters of the Pinkerton’s National Detective Agency during the middle 19th century.

July 19, 2010: Lis Anna Sells Rights to Short Film

Lis Anna (ProSeries 19) has sold the rights to a four time Award winning short film she wrote, directed, and produced. The non-exclusive rights were purchased by Movieola and Lis was represented by her sales agent Ouat Media.

July 8, 2010: Clark Ransom Signs With Agent

Clark Ransom (ProSeries 20) just signed with the Whitt Brantley Management and Talent: A Literary, Film and Television Agency to represent his comedy script, “On Becoming Grim.”

Whitt Brantley has represented other writers on movies ranging from $5 to $20 million in budget. The agreement was signed after Clark got 18 requests for his script from some top production companies.

This is a major step, Clark. Great work.

July 7, 2010: Lynn Dickinson Lands an Agent

Lynn Dickinson (ProSeries 18) signed with New York literary agent Louise Fury, of the L. Perkins agency, to represent the book “Brother Haters Anonymous.”

This occurred after a wild July 4th weekend where Lynn submitted the manuscript on Saturday night, had it read on Sunday, and had an exclusive agreement by Monday afternoon.

Lynn’s screenplay of the same title (Brother Haters Anonymous) is currently in development at Suntaur Entertainment, and Lynn is being managed by one of ScreenwritingU’s favorite movie producers, Zac Sanford of Elsboy Entertainment.

You’re building quite a team, Lynn. This movie is going to happen!

July 2, 2010: Sheila Seclearr Hired to Rewrite Screenplay

Sheila Seclearr (ProSeries 19) has been hired by Ray Zimmerman and Tammy Smith Zimmerman to do a rewrite for their upcoming film, “The Fine Art of Living.”

The Zimmermans are both former executives from Sony Pictures and have worked on hundreds of significant films, like Jerry Maguire and As Good As It Gets. Bruce A. Block has also expressed interest in directing “The Fine Art of Living”, which is set in New Mexico.

Sheila is currently in the midst of the rewrite, taking producer and director notes, and having a blast. She writes screenplays under the pen name J.J. Ramo.

June 29, 2010: Diane M. Meyer Gets Paid Writing Assignment

Diane M. Meyer (ProSeries 27) has been hired by Joe Nasser of Nasser Entertainment to write a feature script.

The deal originated after Diane responded to a request from the producer. Over time, she built a relationship with him and was brought in to do the writing assignment.

June 23, 2010: Mark Moran Hooks Up With PR Company

Mark Moran (ProSeries 10) just signed a deal with WDC Media PR to promote his movie, “Blast and Whisper” — the first film that focuses on the Biblical story of Elijah.

WDC Media PR, a leading PR partner who lists Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” as one of their clients, will help promote the film through TV appearances, radio interviews, and other ads.

AJ Ferrara (ProSeries 19) has been hired to rewrite a feature film in development at Little Studio Films.

The deal was first proposed at a lunch meeting while AJ was in Los Angeles meeting with producers.

Way to go, AJ. This is the start of some great things!

June 11, 2010: Julie Kenner’s Deal With 1492 Pictures!

Julie Kenner (ProSeries 20) got news that her book “Carpe Demon: The adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom” has been funded for a movie as part of a deal between 1492 Pictures and CJ Entertainment.

The project was unveiled last week as part of the new slate of the two companies who have signed a three-year development deal.

May 28, 2010: Joshua Durkin Film gets Funding

Joshua Durkin (ProSeries 23) will write and co-produce the feature film “Dead Cat Bounce” with director Daric Gates.

Earlier, the two completed the short for “Dead Cat Bounce” and it won “best short” at the Idyllwild Film Festival and the Monaco Film Festival.

On the heels of the festival wins, they have have commitments for half the funding for the feature, with more meetings scheduled with investors in the near future.

Each step prepares you for the next.
