Snorkeling across the waters of Catalina is indeed the best California snorkeling experience. Those who have come across Catalina’s beautiful underwater paradise always vouch for this. The warm tropical waters native to the country and the freezing cold waters from the arctic come together at the Channel Islands to form a unique underwater habitat where more than 1,000 plant and animal species thrive. Swim a couple of yards from the shore and see the superb diversity of sea life, and that’s just in the first 60 ft. of depth. Add that to the fact that lowest visibility averages around 50 ft (normally it is higher than 50ft), and you’ll start to understand why divers and snorkelers make regular pilgrimages to Catalina Islands.

Santa Catalina Island is part of the eight island chain called the Channel Islands of California or also called the Santa Barbara Island. The Channel Islands is located in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Southern California along the Santa Barbara Channel in the United States. In the last decade, five of the islands were made into the Channel Islands National Park, with the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary encompassing 60% of its enclosure. Santa Catalina Island is the only one of the eight islands with a significant permanent civilian settlement—the resort city of Avalon, California.

Lover’s Cove is a short walk east from Avalon. This protected marine preserve is an excellent area for snorkeling. Some glass bottom boats cruise there to feed the fish, making the Lover’s Cove resident fishes unnaturally tame. So tame are the fishes there that you could actually pat them and feed them by hand. Within easy swimming distance of the Cove, snorkelers can get great views of sea urchins, sea stars and shimmering schools of garibaldi fish that hover close to shore. You can also expect occasional visits from playful California sea lions that swim up from the Southeast Sea Lion Rookery. In the summer snorkels and fins can be rented, and fish food purchased, at the Cove Cooler. Descanso Beach is also a good snorkeling area. They also cater to food, drinks and equipment needs.

How about a 2 hour snorkelling trip package aboard a custom built 20 foot Caribe? Snorkeling Catalina is a mainstay in guided tours for California snorkelling. Give this exciting snorkeling adventure a early try as they limit each trip to only six passengers. Their package will include Masks, Fins, Snorkel, Wet Suit and some instructions.

When Belize comes in mind, you always imagine lush tropical rain forests, a lazy drift through wondrous cave systems while cave tubing, snorkeling in crystal clear Caribbean water, and deep-sea fishing, Mayan Ruins of ancient civilizations, walks along beautiful sandy beaches, and the friendliest people throughout the Caribbean. Yes, you’re imagining right. IT is Belize.

The second largest reef in the world, the Belize Barrier Reef is also one of the most popular Belize snorkeling destinations. The reef’s protection from the turbulent sea creates a clear and calm waters that made Belize snorkeling ideal. Most of the area inside the reef is less than 20 feet deep, and with crystal clear water it makes an outstanding natural aquarium that you can take part of. In just 6-10 feet of water you’ll find an amazing diversity of marine life.

The Hol Chan Marine Reserve of Belize Barrier Reef is one of the most popular snorkeling spots, about 10 miles north of Caye Caulker. The Hol Chan is a natural cut in the reef, about 25-30 feet deep. A diverse amount of marine life can be found there, it is strictly monitored since this ecosystem is home of the most species found in the Belize Barrier Reef. Established in 1987, Hol Chan is the first reserve of its kind in Central America.

Just to the south of Hol Chan is another popular Belize snorkeling site called Shark-Ray Alley. Shark-Ray Alley is a shallow cut in the reef where snorkelers are almost assured of encountering nurse sharks and southern stingrays. Both Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley are within Ambergris Caye. Other major snorkeling sites include Mata Rocks Cut and the Mexico Rocks.

If you’re in for Belize Package Snorkeling then you should consider Calico Jack’s Village. You can make their unique Caribbean beachfront resort your home base while you vacation in Belize. The Belize package snorkeling they offer will provide the services needed to make your time exceptional and comfortable yet giving you the best snorkeling adventure Belize can offer you. Caretakers at Calico Jack’s Village are devoted to your comfort, safety, and pleasure, from the food you eat to the adventures you wish to pursue.

Another superb option for Belize Package Snorkeling is The Iguana Reef Inn. It is located on the secluded beaches of Caye Caulker. The Iguana Reef Inn works with the local tour operators to arrange your Belize package snorkeling trips for their guests. Carlos Ayala, a favorite with most guests, offers daily Belize snorkeling trips to a number of sites along the barrier reef including some side trips that include sightseeing manatees, crocodiles and marine life indigenous to mangroves.
