Bakia has something very special to offer the world.  Her music is incredibly dynamic, ranging from gentle love songs such as “I know you’ll come home” which was featured on Folklore and has been broadcast through ‘Close to Nowhere’ right through to very energetic guitar driven songs.  But they all share a common thread, a special tie which brings them all together into one unified sound – but I just don’t know how to describe it, it’s so unique.  Bakia’s instrumentation is one thing, but her voice is quite another.  You don’t get many artists who can sing the way Bakia does, totally focused on her message and lead by her faith in God, Bakia Arslanoski has a unique gift which is sure to bring the most complex of feelings into a clear light for all to witness

Salv

Local Perth artist Salv comes in for a chat about his music and to perform 4 songs:

Salv is an emerging solo artist from Perth, Western Australia.

Salv (born Salvatore Vincent Di Criscito) is the frontman of Perth folk rock/blues band Salv’s Repossessed Ramblers. He is also a drummer who has played with Zenburger, Elsewhere Fine, Brooksy’s Shout, Free Radicals, Flagfall, Parker Avenue & Inferno. He currently plays drums for Ryan Webb & The Method, The Blue Finish & Counterfeit God.

Originally from Thornlie, Perth, he started drumming at 13 influenced by Gene Krupa, Keith Moon & John Bonham. After high school he studied music at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts for 2 years & has been playing gigs as a drummer ever since. During this time he began writing songs & formed Salv & the Troubadours in 2007 later to be changed to Salv’s Repossessed Ramblers. They have played shows at Mojo’s Bar, Norfolk Basement, Velvet Lounge, Hyde Park Hotel & Swan Lounge. The songs on the above playlist are from a 12 track demo called ‘Marmion Street to Lively Circle’. These songs exist because Salv can’t help himself. The lyrics & sounds are all true of the way one man sees the world. It’s a compulsion driven by some physical & mental need for motion & distraction. Time will reveal all…D.B ’09.

Local Perth artist Siobny comes in for a chat about her music and to perform 4 songs:

Siobny has been singing since she could talk, writing her first song at eight. She left OZ at 19 and traveled Europe gaining inspiration for her songs which lead to recording an album of material in London.  While she was in London she hosted open mic nights and continued her writing and singing and performing in various venues.  She is now back living in Perth and concentrating on writing material to complete her album.

Heath Marshall

Local Perth artist Heath Marshall comes in for a chat about his music and to perform 4 songs:

Heath Marshall is a big man, with a big heart and a big passion for music. A self taught musician, Heath has experienced a lot in life and he pours these experiences into his music.   His stage presence has to be seen to be believed, because even those who don’t normally get up and dance can be seen bouncing off the walls at a Heath Marshall gig.  Combining his love for the strings and drums, Heath manages to connect with his instruments and his vocals bring a raw, bluesy, all-out ballsy sound to the stage.  After recently recording his first solo CD “Up to Fate”, with three of the tracks getting to no.1. 3 and 5 on TripleJ Unearthed, Heath is ready to hit the road and give “Up to Fate” a pounding!

Pins and Ladles

Local Perth artist Pins and Ladles come in for a chat about their music and to perform 4 songs:

Founding members Sarah Pelicano (Guitar and backing vocals) and Ashleigh Brown (Lead Vocals) got together in High School to form a band, which at the time primarily consisted of covers.  They soon delved into the world of song writing and found that their sound had something special to it, and they even earned first place in the band competition “Next big thing”.

Only fresh out of high school, Pins and Ladles are starting to get some well earned local recognition.  With their appearance on the album “Folklore” and now their first radio interview, their music is starting to spread far and wide.
