The Rotary Club of Portsmouth is pleased to announce their 37th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. Held every Thanksgiving since 1974, this event seeks to provide a way for area individuals and families to enjoy the holiday in a warm and welcoming environment.

This year’s event will be held at the Jarvis Center in Portsmouth and will take place from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.

Portsmouth Rotarian Melissa Benson, who is leading this year’s event, noted that this dinner represents a departure from just delivering meals on Thanksgiving, saying for her “nothing creates a feeling of real community fellowship like sitting down to a good dinner with others – isn’t that what Thanksgiving is all about!” Melissa adds that “this event is all about people coming together to share the holiday, and we encourage anyone who is alone or away from family to join us.” In addition, “special thanks should go out to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for proving all the food, to the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church for donating the Jarvis Center space, and to my fellow Rotarians for all the wonderful home cooked turkeys and pies.”

This event is free of charge for all to attend, however RSVP is requested for attendance. Transportation will also be provided to the dinner for all those who need it, leaving from the Seacoast YMCA (550 Peverly Hill Road, Portsmouth) starting at 10:30am. In addition, a shuttle will leave the South Church in Portsmouth at Noon. To RSVP your attendance or to request transportation from the YMCA, attendees can contact Dawn Marie Toner at 603-431-2334 or dtoner@seacoastymca.org.

Dinner Location: Transportation Location:

Jarvis Center Seacoast YMCA

The Rotary Club of Portsmouth has been serving the seacoast community since 1923. Rotary International is the world’s first service club organization with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. More information is available at www.portsmouthrotary.comand people may send inquiries to portsmouthrotary@yahoo.com.
