Bloody Eyeball!

I usually end up grumbling after finales, but this week two got it right.

Congratulations, “America’s Next Top Model” for doing the right thing by my girl Bloody Eyeball.

And congratulations “Project Runway” by making chicken salad out of a chicken s-, uh, Oktoberfest season by naming Irina Shabayeva the winner.

Nice job, Irina

(I never thought you were mean, Irina, and you certainly weren’t as irritating as some past season contestants.)

It’s definitely time to go back to New York.

Here’s hoping “Dancing with the Stars” does right by its finalists on Tuesday by naming Mya the winner of season nine.

And here’s some shame for “So You Think You Can Dance” for dumping our local girl Channing Cooke. How dare you!

“Speaking of ‘Twilight,’ my daughter went on a date last night with a guy from Australia who is visiting the UMass/Amherst campus. It turns out that he went to boarding school with Robert Pattinson and claimed they are close friends…he showed my daughter Robert’s name and number on his cell phone. Said that indeed Robert and Kristen Stewart are a couple. My daughter was absolutely thrilled, as she is a big Twilight fan.”

I remember the last one, issued 15 years ago, put me off popcorn for years.

According to the new report, released today, not much has changed.

From the L.A. Times: CSPI bought multiple servings of popcorn from the three largest movie chains, Regal Entertainment Group, AMC and Cinemark, and had them analyzed in an independent lab.

It found that a Regal medium popcorn — 20 cups — contains 1,200 calories, 60 grams of saturated fat, and 980 milligrams of sodium. That’s without the buttery topping that can be drizzled — or poured — on the popcorn, which adds another 200 calories and 3 grams of saturated fat per 1.5 tablespoons.

(According to the L.A. Times, Regal’s figure of 720 calories for a medium popcorn was considerably lower than the one determined by CSPI.)

An AMC medium popcorn did better because of its smaller size — nine cups — at 590 calories and 33 grams of saturated fat, and a 14-cup Cinemark medium was 760 calories and just 3 grams of saturated fat (in both cases, before adding buttery topping).

From ABC News: “A combo at Regal (medium popcorn plus medium soda) has 1,610 calories,” the authors write. “That’s like eating six scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, four bacon strips, and four sausage links before the lights come up.”

Regal and AMC, the two largest chains, pop their popcorn in coconut oil, which is about 90 percent saturated fat. Cinemark, the third-largest chain, now pops its corn in canola oil, which explains its much lower saturated fat levels.

I just bought my ticket today (Wednesday, Nov. 18). The guy behind the counter said only eight tickets had been sold so far because not many people knew about the 3 a.m. show yet.

Well, now you know.

And you should also know there’s very little that can shame a person more than buying a ticket to a 3 a.m. “Twilight” film from a person younger than you who doesn’t appear to buy your subtle suggestions that the ticket is for someone else.

I don’t even like “Twilight” that much! All in the name of duty.

For their “Blackbird” jazz routine on “So You Think You Can Dance,” Channing Cooke and Victor Smalley had to “peck” each other like birds.

During rehearsals, Channing — our ice cream scooper from Dunlap’s Ice Cream in Seabrook — accidentally hit Victor in the head. He started bleeding and needed five stitches.

“So I won,” Channing said.

“I wanted six, though, to represent season six, like a battle wound, but they wouldn’t give it to me,” Victor said.

After the live performance, judge/executive producer Nigel Lythgoe said it was the first week that it looked like Channing relaxed and actually enjoyed the dance. That helped him enjoy the performance as well.

She cages her feelings a lot, he said.

“Yeah, I do,” Channing said, “but I stepped outside of the cage this week.”

“You’re finding your way into the show right now,” said judge Adam Shankman. “If you keep growing now, using this as your springboard, you’re going to do great.”

On Wednesday night another couple will be eliminated, revealing the top 12 dancers.

The 80-minute film is narrated by Patricia Clarkson and features Roger Ebert and other national film critics. There will be a post-film discussion with the director, Boston Phoenix film critic Gerald Peary, and producer Amy Geller, who is from Hampton, N.H.

“Twilight Saga: New Moon” screenings at 12:11 a.m. and 12:12 a.m. have been added on Thursday, Nov. 19/Friday, Nov. 20 at the Regal Cinemas in Newington, N.H.

That makes the current count 11 screens, just for midnight. (The other nine screens are sold out at this point. No idea why there’s no 12:04 a.m. showing, but they skipped that minute.)

Will this beat the “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” count of 13 midnight screens? We’ll see…

Time flies when no one at Sterling Cooper is having fun.

Last week we got to see everyone in our “Mad Men” world react to the Kennedy assassination, despite series creator Matthew Weiner’s suggestions that he wasn’t gonna touch that.

But that wasn’t even the season finale, we still have one last episode this Sunday, Nov. 8 at 10 p.m. on AMC.

I think this could be a good thing: Channing Cooke, 18, of Haverhill, who works as an ice cream scooper at Dunlap’s in Seabrook, had a pretty awful dance night on the top 18 performance night of “So You Think You Can Dance.”

She and her partner, Phillip Attmore, danced a painful, labored samba. Judge Nigel Lythgoe compared Channing to a sack of potatoes (but a “sexy” sack) because their lifts were so heavy.

At the end of the night, Phillip was one of the show’s two tap dancers cut from the show.

So next week she will have a new partner in fellow contemporary dancer Victor Smalley, 21, of Miami.

Starting on Tuesday, Nov. 10 the audience gets to vote after each performance show to keep dancers in the competition.

So next Tuesday REMEMBER TO VOTE. Don’t let our local girl down!
