January 02, 2012 - Newark, NJ - PRWEB -- Meeting planners looking for a modern hotel facility for a 2012 function in northern New Jersey should look no further than the Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel. The property, which announces its completion of a multi-million dollar renovation, offers planners a total of 17,000 square feet of stylish, sophisticated, and state-of-the-art meeting facilities near Newark (17 meeting rooms total) located on one level, which is also easily accessible to Newark Airport and New York City.

According to Jeff Plamondon, General Manager, “The meeting space here at the Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel is quite remarkable and offers planners a wide variety of benefits. First and foremost, the meeting space has direct access to our gated parking lot for ease of access. Secondly, we have incredibly flexible conference space. Our breakout rooms — which all offer natural light — are away from the general session areas and provide quiet and solitude for concentration and brainstorming. They also have built-in coffee break areas so that the breaks can be set up prior to the meeting or during a lunch break and no one is disturbed. Finally, our board room is a state-of-the-art space which is stunning in its style and is one of our most popular rooms in the entire hotel.” Read full Renaisance Newark Airport Hotel press release.

By Steve Mooar -- Airport Parking is one of the last things a traveler thinks about when planning a business or leisure trip, if they even think of it at all. Most travelers assume that parking on the airport is the easiest, safest, and cheapest way to go, but this is a big mistake, particularly at Newark Liberty Airport (EWR).

Newark Liberty has three levels of parking on the grounds. There is short term parking located across the access road from each of the terminals. The short term lots are an easy walk to the terminal as long as you do not have much luggage, but they cost $33 per day. Travelers can save as much as $9 a day by selecting one of the Daily Parking Garages and pay between $24 and $27 per day depending on the garage. The AirTrain light rail connects these garages to the terminals, but you have to walk to one of the stations, which can be a hassle if you have a lot of luggage. The least expensive on-airport option is the Economy Lots, but they still are relatively expensive at $18 a day and the buses that connect the Economy Lots to the terminals are slow and overcrowded.

Because of the high rates and inconvenience of parking at Newark Liberty, off-airport long term parking is very popular. There are over 10 Off-Airport Newark Liberty Parking options with rates as low as $7.75 per day, which works out to as much as a 76% savings over on-airport parking. The off-airport parking lots tend to be more convenient than their on-airport counterparts. The Off-Airport Newark Liberty Parking Lots are located near the major thoroughfares like I-78 and the New Jersey Turnpike, so the traveler does not even have to spend the time navigating around the airport. They also help you with your luggage and drop you off at the terminal, so if you use the skycap you are probably only walking a total of 50 feet with your luggage.

For added convenience, most off-airport operators have online reservation forms and even offer valet options for added convenience. Making an online reservation for parking, guaranteeing your parking spot, is a good idea, particularly if you are traveling during a holiday or other periods of busy travel. If you have every driven around Newark Airport trying to find a parking spot the week of Thanksgiving, you know what I am talking about.

The bottom line is that off-airport Newark Airport Parking saves the traveler money, time and most important a less stressful start to a vacation or business trip. Give it a try.

Fewer Flights Mean More Customers Vying for Fewer Seats

SUFFIELD, CT, Dec 08, 2011 (Press Release) -- With the recent announcement of American Airlines filing for bankruptcy, along with higher fuel prices, travelers may find fewer flights and smaller, more crowded planes. Fewer flights may tighten up further holiday travelers' schedule options for the most convenient time for flying.

With these limited flight schedule choices, many travelers won't have the options, as in previous years, in choosing their most convenient departure times. Also, many airlines are switching to smaller, more economical planes for regional travel to decrease overhead, shrinking schedule availability further.

Airlines have reduced choices to early morning departures with late night returns, which can be a big hassle, but now there is an excellent alternative to an early morning airport drive that avoids any unpredictable traffic or fatigue after the late night return flights.

Jack Lambert, CEO of ParkSleepFly.com, offers a great solution for traveling on these pre-dawn flights: Arrive at the airport the night before and stay in a comfortable hotel close to the airport that provides parking for the duration of the trip. These hotels also provide shuttle service to and from the terminal. ParkSleepFly.com has hundreds of these hotels listed to choose from in over 129 airports locations.

Lambert says, "Our site offers easy online reservations for many of your favorite hotel brands located near the airport. The package rates may be equal to or less than parking alone at the airport. Parking from 3 to 14 days or longer is included in the rate. Travelers can stay the night before and arrive at the airport refreshed from a good night's sleep complete with the peace of mind that their car is safe. If a stay on the return is preferred, travelers can get some rest before that long drive home, where previously they may have driven fatigued and unsafe."

While travel is not getting any easier, with tight airline schedules and space cutbacks, travelers don't have to forfeit their rest for early morning departures or late night returns. By simply reserving a hotel parking package through ParkSleepFly.com, that early morning flight, or late night return, will no longer be a hassle.

About ParkSleepFly.com, Inc.

November 20, 2011 - Atlanta Journal Constitution - By Kelly Yamanouchi -- It’s time for the holiday rush with some changes in security measures, as well. Travelers should be prepared for the possibility of imaging machines, pat-downs and delays. Here are a few things fliers need to know as they navigate the Atlanta Airport:

Be early
- Delta Air Lines is advising travelers to get to the airport three hours in advance of international flights and up to two hours in advance of domestic flights. Check with your airline for more specific suggestions.

- For Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport information, go to atlanta-airport.com or call 1-800-897-1910.

Security lines
- Hartsfield-Jackson’s main security checkpoint is on one end of the main terminal and has 22 lanes for passengers flying out. A maze line leads to the checkpoint. The line usually moves slowly but steadily. The airport has four lanes at a Terminal South checkpoint and six lanes at a Terminal North checkpoint. Signs will direct travelers to three types of lanes they can choose from: Black Diamond for expert, elite or frequent business travelers; Blue Square for more casual travelers with carry-on baggage and a basic understanding of security requirements; and Green Circle for those with special needs or those traveling with young children in strollers.

- The TSA this year also launched a new “trusted traveler” program at Hartsfield-Jackson and a few other airports, allowing some travelers such as the most frequent fliers on Delta to opt into the “PreCheck” program for a chance at expedited screening. The PreCheck lane is one of the lanes at the South security checkpoint at Hartsfield-Jackson.

- You must have a boarding pass and photo ID to go through security and on to the gate concourses.

November 22, 2011 - St. Petersburg Times - By STEVE HUETTEL -- Gail Wohl cruises right past Tampa Airport to find parking when she flies out of town.

Rather than use the airport's $9-per-day remote economy garage, the South Pasadena travel agent pulls into A-1 Express Airport Parking on the southern fringe of TIA. She drops off her car outside the office. A driver loads her luggage onto a free shuttle to the airport terminal 2 miles away.

And Wohl's $30 parking bill for four days is $6 cheaper than the airport's fee would be.

"It's a convenience, the price is good and you don't have to go look for your car when you get back," she said. "It's just so easy."

Most off-airport parking businesses compete strictly on price, shaving a few bucks off TIA's daily rate. That can add up to a tidy savings for travelers on extended trips.

Some offsite operators also offer services customers can't get at the airport: advance reservations for busy travel periods, oil changes and discount deals. A-1 Express customers can collect frequent-parking points, good for car washes and free parking.

The vast majority of travelers who drive to TIA still park in airport-owned garages. But more and more, offsite parking operators are nibbling away at the airport's share of the business, said Ed Cooley, TIA's vice president of operations. Continue reading Tampa Airport Parking article.

FlightView Presents Top-10 Tips for Holiday Travel

BOSTON, Nov 15, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Attention holiday travelers: the most hectic travel season of the year is quickly approaching. The 2011 holiday travel forecast is predicting 20.9 million domestic flyers this Thanksgiving season. While that number represents a two percent drop in the total number of seats filled from 2010, don't be fooled -- the heightened security, weather delays, crowded terminals, overbooked flights and expensive baggage fees are here to stay.

"The holidays are always a stressful time, and travel is a big contributor to the madness," said Mike Benjamin, CEO of FlightView, the leader in day-of-travel information. "But with just a little extra preparation, travelers can enjoy a more productive and calmer experience for themselves and their families."

Here's a look at FlightView's top 10 travel tips for the 2011 holiday season:

1. Plan for airport congestion -- Heightened security and higher volume will undoubtedly slow travelers down. Holiday travelers should plan a 30-45 minute additional buffer when deciding when to leave for the airport.

2. Travel light -- Overhead compartments and under seat storage will be at a minimal this year and airline personnel are expected to be less lenient about overstuffed and additional carry-on bags.

3. Monitor flight changes -- The easiest way to reduce stress and save time is to stay informed by proactively monitoring the departure and arrival times for all flights, including connections. Travelers are advised to check on the status of flights, via flight-tracking sites like FlightView.com, prior to leaving for the airport.

4. Leverage smart phones -- Instead of fighting crowds and lugging bags around the airport to get a glance at the airport display boards, travelers should tap mobile phones to stay up-to-date on flight information. Many fight-tracking apps can keep users up-to-date on any changes with push alerts.

5. Bookmark the airport's mobile website -- For travelers that don't want to download an app, the airport's mobile website is the next fastest and easiest way to get flight information while on the go. If the airport does not have a mobile site, bookmark FlightView's mobile tracker.

6. Plan for parking -- It's essential to plan ahead for airport parking. One parking detour may be enough to make a traveler miss a flight. Flyers can leverage FlightView's free airport parking tool to see available lots and current rates.

7. Dress for security success --Travelers can save valuable time by preparing for security before leaving for the airport. Travelers should have only the essentials in their pockets -- wallet, keys, cell phone and ticket.

8. Check-In early -- Avoid the lines at the airport. Many airlines allow flight check-in up to 24 hours in advance.

10. Don't forget the pick-up person -- Travelers should update the pick-up person on the status of their flight to help them avoid countless airport circling and congestion.

Backed by more than 30 years of flight-tracking experience, FlightView offers travelers several free tools to help with holiday travel. FlightView's mobile website and mobile apps -- available on the Android, iPhone, Blackberry and Palm - offer travelers a simple way to track flights and stay informed while on the go. Another useful tool for holiday travelers is FlightView's airport information page, which offers travelers real-time updates on airport delays, flight changes, limousine services, and parking facilities. To track your holiday flight now, visit FlightView.com.

Charles Skelton, president of Ann Arbor-based Hospitality Advisors, said in his mid-year report that three submarkets in particular were reporting higher occupancies -- downtown Detroit, Ann Arbor and the Romulus/Metro Airport area.

"With most of the downsizing in the auto industry behind us, many of the auto-centric submarkets in metro Detroit have been relatively stable since 2009," Skelton wrote. "Not surprisingly, in many of the other Detroit submarkets, new and renovated properties have enjoyed strong or increased numbers." Read More.

Flushing, NY (PRWEB) -- The Holiday Inn Express at LaGuardia Airport took a step forward in its goal of going “carbon neutral” by becoming one of the first hotels in the Holiday Inn chain to install an energy management system. The hotel was advised by energy consulting firm Green Energy Solutions, a Con Edison market partner, to install in-room monitoring systems and HVAC controls that they project will save them 18.2% in energy costs, or $13,493 each year.

“The decision to invest in this system was made easy by the great rebates we got from Con Edison,” said Amit Ghandi, president of M&R Hotel Management Group, the entity that owns the hotel. Almost 50% of the project cost was subsidized by rebates from Con Edison, who offer project subsidies and other incentives to buildings who have approved the installation of energy management systems to lower energy demand.

BRIDGEWATER, N.J., Oct. 21, 2011 (PRESS RELEASE) –- Rosemont,
Illinois is located a few miles from the O’Hare Airport and is home to a
collection of hotels that offer Park Sleep and Fly packages.Park Sleep and Fly is an alternative to
airport parking where a hotel near the airport packages airport parking with
one night stay.

Park Sleep and Fly is a great option for a traveler that has an
early morning flight, a distance to travel to the airport, or a concern about
traffic delays on the way to the airport. Also, Park Sleep and Fly Hotel Packages are competitive with airport
parking rates. The packages are often priced less than the equivalent price for
parking at an on-airport parking lot.

“For example, staying at a Rosemont area hotel costs as little
as $70 for one night and 15 days of parking, which works out to $4.67 per day,”
Steve Mooar a representative of Search Airport Parking commented. “Compare this
to O’Hare Airport Parking ranging from $9.00 to $51.00 per day and the savings
add up.”

SearchParkSleepFly.com has information on the hotels in Rosemont
and other hotels around O’Hare that offer Park Sleep and Fly packages. There is also information on park sleep and
fly hotels at 21 other airports in the United States and 2 airports in Canada.

Sept 30, 2011 - Miami-Dade County, FL - PRESS RELEASE -- New rates going into effect at Miami International Airport at 12:01 a.m. on October 1 will simplify the cost of parking at MIA to $17 per day, or $2 for every 20 minute increment up to two hours and 40 minutes. The new rate slashes the previous charge of $30 for spaces in the short-term lot immediately outside the airport's Central Terminal while increasing by $2 the maximum daily rate in the Dolphin and Flamingo garages near North and South Terminal. This is the first rate increase at MIA in approximately five years.

“MIA has recently made a number of improvements to expedite the flow of traffic and improve customer service, including the implementation of SunPass Plus and valet parking for both North and South Terminal. With the opening of new terminal facilities for international arrival passengers, all 8,059 of our parking spaces are now considered premium parking spaces depending on your airline,” said Miguel Southwell, Miami-Dade Aviation Department Deputy Director for Business Retention and Development. “The rates have therefore been simplified to reflect this change.”

MIA continues to offer valet parking in the Dolphin and Flamingo garages for $18 within three hours or $30 per day for three hours or more. Economy Park and Ride parking is also available for $3 each hour for the first two hours or a daily rate of $8.
Now set to open next spring -- six years after the initial target date -- the terminal will create “a new front door to the airport,” said Atlanta Airport general manager Louis Miller, by offering an access point on the east side, off I-75.

The terminal is mainly designed for passengers using the adjacent international gate concourses. One of its most-touted features: it will bring an end to the cumbersome baggage process now required of Atlanta-bound international travelers. If flying with checked luggage, they must recheck it after clearing customs, then pick it up again after taking the airport train to the distant main terminal.

At the same time, one task for airport officials is making sure local travelers and regular visitors, long used to coming and going from one terminal for all flights, don’t end up in the wrong place. Read More
The work will expand the terminal building between gates E17 and E31, and is part of the DFW Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program (TRIP). The initial phase of TRIP for Terminal E also includes the reactivation of its ‘satellite’ terminal, which houses seven aircraft gates.

TRIP is a seven-year, $1.9 billion renovation plan to renew all four of DFW’s original terminals, which first opened when the airport itself opened in 1974. Under TRIP, DFW will replace aging infrastructure systems, update concessions and redesign terminal space to improve the passenger experience substantially. Read More

Sept 19, 2011 - Travel Daily News -- Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. announced the first conversion of an existing hotel to its “style-at-a-steal” Aloft brand, launching a new phase of growth for one of the world’s most talked-about hotel brands.

Aloft San Francisco Airport, a former Clarion property, will undergo a significant renovation before opening as an Aloft in the summer of 2012. The 253-room hotel is owned by Starwood Hotels & Resorts and this significant investment demonstrates Starwood’s strong commitment to the three-year-old Aloft brand.

“Building on the success of adaptive reuse projects like the award-winning Aloft Dallas Downtown, a former railroad depot, we’ve developed a conversion-friendly strategy for existing hotels to meet owner and guest demand for the brand while helping our partners reposition existing assets in a cost-effective manner,” Simon Turner, President of Global Development for Starwood. “We believe that many well-located, older hotels in metro markets represent enormous untapped repositioning potential. With the right capital investment and the backing of Starwood’s powerful platforms, these assets will benefit from Aloft’s ever-growing guest loyalty.” Read more
