A walk on and off track with good views of the Estate and a chance to chat with one or more of our stalkers about their work here. Their knowledge of the deers' behaviour means you'll have a good chance of seeing some. Some walking will be on rough, perhaps steep, ground; good boots and a reasonable level of fitness essential.

This two day course will give you the opportunity to participate in charcoal making, and learn how to make it yourself.This two day residential course will take participants through all the stages of loading, firing and managing a 6ft diameter charcoal kiln, to create charcoal which can be used for BBQ's, or simply as fuel for a stove or open fire. We will also have some fun with smaller scale charcoal making, and all participants will be able to take home some of the resulting charcoal from the large burn. We will be using Rhododendron ponticum for making charcoal, ascwe have been doing successfully here for the last five years, but will also look at results with other types of wood.

Accommodation is in the very comfortable Ardess Lodge bunkhouse, which has a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable lounge for socialising (with solid fuel stove), and great drying room facilities.

This is a hands on course, which will involve getting dirty, tired, and given the east loch Lomond climate probably a bit wet also!
