Standing on the shore, looking out at the still sea

I realize that I can’t see the whole embrace.

Everything I see is surface, skin, signs

Pointing to things beneath and beyond

The surface of the wet sand, bubbles, worm trails

Tiny mollusc volcanoes of clear water

The surface of the sea, heads of seals, churn of herring

Shredded eel grass on the tide line

All teasing me, reminding me I really can’t see anything.

Anything that really matters moves underneath

Even the distance is a barrier, a running fence to an infinite point

Rusting wire strung on rotting posts into the horizon

All of my senses fail at the skin: smell, touch, sight

(only sound sometimes hints at deeper things, vibrations travel out …)

There’s nothing I can do that can get me any deeper, nothing

Except to bury myself, deeper. I can do that.

Because that is what I imagine a healthy shoreline should be.

now the thoughts I have about our environmental:

Not just a painting

Nature will heal the scars we sadly inflict on the world –

if we let it

this painting is about winning back land for food and living.

The center part are the “Salzwiesen” the stage of winning land back from the ocean, the first stage is our responsibility to keep  “das Wattenmeer”( Mad-flats) pollution free the third part is the land we can survive on.

I finally figured it out, why that blogging business took off  like lightning! –  I can talk about myself and what interests me all I want – if someone is listening or not. No one can interrupt and change the subject, so ideal in the world of self indulgent.

Der Werdegang: to get there

It is not so important what the end-result is but the way to get there. Your whole being is involved to get there, you forget the unpleasantness of life for a while and concentrate of what is in front of you, to create – to make something that has not been there before.

My humble being is in a space with no other but to convey my thoughts to the canvas, not to be hidden but it is as a conversation – to want to be listened – to be understood. It is not a spiritual happening or an inner child thing as so many painter try to explain their” Werdegang”, it is really a “Drang” – and urge to create. So many years I suppressed my German background but no denying now – some words of German just fit and suit me better to describe a “Werdegang”

They are not pretty, just black, have a terrible voice, are scavenger and come in droves, especially the crows, steel songbirds eggs from the nest, try to chaise away any larger bird if they like to roost in their neighborhood,

If anyone has an answer, that would be interesting.

But they are a family bird, have babysitters, care for each other and very intelligent.

So – but still what is it with these birds that we like to paint, draw and photograph them????

Does it mean bronze “third” after silver –after gold?

I have a few clumps of Epimedium – Barrenwort  in my garden, leathery green leaves with bronze edges and the most gorgeous cream-yellow flowers on a bronze colored wiry stem, they get “first” price in my spring garden- for sure-  a very quite color amongst the dark earth and the bronze edged leaves

This inspired me to my “ variation of bronze incorporated” paintings.
