Ryan and I had the opportunity to see the Fan Sneak advanced showing of Star Trek: Into Darkness in IMAX 3D on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. The theater was packed, many fans were in costume, and the anticipation was high. We also took home an exclusive Enterprise IMAX poster that glows in the dark! (fitting) Listen in as we review the film on the spot immediately after we saw it. Ryan also interviewed a couple of the Trekkie cosplayers in a 6 second Vine. Live long and prosper!

The Dark Knight Rises – The Review!

Second Screeners Hosts Tim Arthur, Ryan Boyles, and Damond Nollan, ran the #TDKRlineparty for the crowd at the cinema, handing out over 500 free Batman comics, and prizes like t-Shirts, graphic novels, figurines, and mall gift cards. After all of the excitement of the party, the guys finally had a chance to watch The Dark Knight Rises at the IMAX premiere at Southpoint Cinemas in Durham, NC.

Following the film, the guys did a live audio review after the film outside the cinema. Want to hear what they thought of it?  Listen above!

Second Screeners Hosts Tim Arthur, Ryan Boyles, Damond Nollan, and their special guest Michael Render headed out to catch Prometheus on it’s opening night and did a live audio review after the film. Want to hear what they thought of it?  Listen above!

We headed to the multiplex to get you the lowdown on the anticipated new film from Ridley Scott, Prometheus! This episode starts out with some brief facts about the film, and then diverts into some spoilers and a full-depth review. Don’t worry, we warn you before divulging any spoilers, so you can stop listening at that point, then come back and hear the rest after seeing the film if you don’t want to know about plot elements!

GetGlue

With a large user base, GetGlue is one of the leading ways folks are using the second screen to share what they are watching. We discuss how may people use the Reading activity on GetGlue to highlight comic books that they are checking out. One of the things we really like about GetGlue is that you have the ability to Check In to several different types of leisure activities as opposed to just TV and Movies.

When you Check In to a show, you are thrust right into the comment stream. We discuss whether or not we like this design behavior.

Miso

Miso is one of the first “social tv” apps that came onto the landscape. We continue to use the app heavily to share what we are watching.

It has undergone many iterations and improvements since it first debuted.The interface is impressive and one of the great features we like is the slide shows that are provided by some fans.

We really enjoy how you can specify that you are watching a specific television episode. This is a granular functionality that GetGlue does not currently provide.  One thing we have noticed is that there seems to be significantly less discussion and trending activity when compared to GetGlue.

The Neverending Story

We digressed a bit and expressed our love for the 1984 fantasy classic The Neverending Story. Catch the original theatrical trailer below!
