"If I was going to let someone in I would ask for their I.D."
But how does Eloise know that I.D. is real? K-U-B is one utility that spends a fair amount of time working in neighborhoods. For her, there's more than an I.D. that gives her peace of mind.
"I would look at their truck first. They always have it labeled. Then I would ask for the I.D. before I let them inside," said Rodgers.
"K-U-B encourages customers to always ask for a photo identification badge when anyone claiming to work for the utility comes to their home," Grace Whiteside from KUB told WVLT. Read More...

SPRINGFIELD - School Committee member Antonette E. Pepe was at Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical High School one day earlier this month and was very upset by something she did not see: a single student wearing an identification badge.
Pepe wants each of the city's nearly 25,500 public school students to wear an ID badge. The School Committee passed a policy in 2002 that middle school and high school students wear badges, but it has gone dormant.
"It's a major issue," Pepe said last week. "You want safety in the schools, and this is one of the ways to provide that."

Security Imaging offers ID badge service.
Are you a small company that needs ID badges? Or maybe a larger company that doesn't have the time to print employee ID badges?
Wearing an ID badge in today's world is extremely important. Whether you have a security guard that checks IDs or you have an access control system, Identification cards help keep your work place safe by helping other employees recognize who is allowed in the building and who isn't.
Some companies have access control badges but a lot of those companies still don't have photo ID cards. Security Imaging can print on adhesive PVC cards that you can adhere to your existing Access card so that your card not only grants access but shows who you are.
Please call 1-877-369-7033 for more information on our badge bureau service to see how we can help.

A Warner Robins man was accused of impersonating a police officer after pulling alongside the Ga. 247 Connector late Tuesday as if he was running radar. Q: What are the general procedures for visitors?
- A state-issued driver's license is the preferred ID. For those visitors who do not have a driver's license, we will also accept a government-issued photo ID such as a state ID card or green card.
- The ID will be run through the Raptor system, which HPISD recently purchased for each campus in order to screen for registered sex offenders. The system will compare the name of the visitor to a national sex offender database, which only takes a few seconds. Once the visitor is cleared, he/she will be issued a badge.
- The visitor will be expected to check out at the front office when leaving the campus. read more

In a recent incident in Saddle Brook, for example, police said a man reportedly wearing a utility hat told a homeowner that electrical work was being done in front of the house. When the homeowner stepped outside, other men allegedly broke into the house and stole jewelry. They were apprehended by the police. Secure Sleeve™ and Secure Badgeholder™ products create an RFID shield by blocking the electromagnetic energy necessary to power and communicate with contactless smart cards, passports, enhanced drivers licenses (EDLs), TWIC, PIV, CAC and transit cards. This is essential to total security because although most contactless smart card systems implement industry-standard security mechanisms, readers can be modified to access information without authorization.
Credit card readers can be easily purchased that will read the credit account number, expiration date, and even name off your new RFID enabled credit card. These readers can easily be concealed so that someone could walk through a crowd, ride on a subway, elevator, or other crowded area and steal nearby credit card information without the card holder ever knowing it happened.

At Security Imaging we sell all different styles of badge reels. Last year the swivel clip on our reels changed from a full bulldog clip to a half alligator clip.
Due to feed back from our customers we have now gone back to the bulldog clip because it grips clothing better. Swivel Hook Badge Reels are great for employees that don't have a pocket or belt loop to attach the badge reel to. The Swivel Bulldog clip can attach to dresses, suites, shirts etc. Simply pinch the clip to open and attach to clothing, once you release the clip it should grip your clothing.
We still have some stock of the alligator clip and will be selling that style until we run out and then we will update the sight to the full bulldog clip. If at anytime you want samples or prefer one over the other we should have both styles available.
Many colors of badge reels available.

Lanyards are Neck Cords that are worn around the neck. Lanyards come in many different widths, styles, and with assorted attachments. The most common lanyards are made of a nylon/polyester blend and are either round or flat. The popular widths for wearing your ID card are 3/8" or 3/4" Neck Cords.
Some Neck Cords have a built in safety feature and are called "Breakaway Lanyards." Breakaway Lanyards slip over the head. If the ID lanyard gets caught in machinery it has a plastic piece that "breaks" the lanyard so that you can remove it from your neck without having to pull it over your head. Once you use the feature you can always re-connect the breakaway parts and re-use the lanyard. The Breakaway feature is only for safety and should not be used on a daily basis for removing the lanyard.
Some ID Lanyards have something called a Quick Disconnect Buckle. This Buckle is located at the end of the lanyard and usually has a swivel hook, bulldog clip or key ring attached to it. Quick Disconnect Buckles allow you to remove your ID card by releasing the buckle. When you are ready to put your ID Card back on the lanyard, you insert the buckle to the plastic piece on the lanyard. This feature makes removing your ID badge easy, because you don't have to take the lanyard off in order to remove the badge.
We carry all styles and attachments for lanyards, if you have any questions we would be happy to help!

In a case that pitted religious beliefs about photographs against the ramped up security concerns following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, a federal judge has ruled that an oil refinery had no duty to accommodate a worker who refused on religious grounds to pose for a photo ID.
In her 22-page opinion in Cherry v. Sunoco Inc., U.S. District Judge Cynthia M. Rufe of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania found that a 2002 federal law specifically mandated that all workers in port facilities carry photo ID, and that Sunoco had no power to waive that requirement.
John Cherry's lawyer, Sandra I. Thompson, argued that Sunoco could have accommodated Cherry by using biometric identification, such as fingerprints or iris scan, which Cherry had offered to pay for at least in part.
But Sunoco's lawyers, Daniel V. Johns and Farrah Gold of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, argued that the requirements of the Maritime Transportation Safety Act, along with the Coast Guard regulations that were passed in its wake, simply don't allow for any exceptions.
Rufe agreed, saying, Sunoco "could not waive this requirement nor could it make any accommodation that would eliminate the same without suffering undue hardship."
According to court papers, Cherry is a Black Israelite and a member of the Church of the True and Living God who believes that the Second Commandment prohibits him from posing for pictures or photographs and from carrying the same upon his person.
Cherry was hired in March 2001 to work at Sunoco's 1,000-acre, 1,500-employee Philadelphia refinery. At first, Sunoco accommodated his religious beliefs by allowing Cherry to carry an employee ID without a photograph.
Even after the events of Sept. 11, 2001, court records show that Sunoco continued to accommodate Cherry's refusal to pose for a photograph, but required him to report to security when he came into work to show his badge. Read More...

Southeast High School senior Zyra Miller says she doesn’t mind the school’s new requirement that all students wear identification badges, but she knows many students hate the concept.
“I think it’s a (good) way to make sure that the students are safe as well as the staff,” Miller said. “But it would be a disadvantage to those that are very forgetful.”
Principal Alan Long said this is the school’s first year to require students to wear ID badges, and the new policy goes into effect after the bar-coded cards are issued on Wednesday.
Southeast is the only local school that requires badges. There are no fees except for replacements. Long said the program is an effort to strengthen school security by creating a way for employees to immediately be able to identify those who are Southeast students and those who aren’t.
“Southeast High serves as a sort of transportation hub for buses in the morning, and students from Phoenix (High School) and the Whitfield Career Academy are also on the campus,” said school system spokesman Eric Beavers. Read More....

I was watching the speech Rod Woodson gave at the football hall of fame this weekend. The last words he delivered were very powerful so I went on line to find his speech to share with you and my children.
As I look back on the teams that I've faced and been a part of over the years, there is one common denominator about all those teams. I choose to be a part of a team, we have to live under the rules and the guides. If you want that team to function as one, we have to be obedient to the rules and regulation.
So I will leave you today to talk about choices or choice. Remember to choose or the choices you make in our lives will build our destinies that we make. Choices made throughout our lives were also determine our destiny. Matthew 22:14, many are called, few are chosen. God has given us a gift to choose. It's a power that we normally don't talk about. I leave you today with these thoughts. Choose. Choose to love rather than hate. Choose to create rather than to destroy. Choose to persevere rather than quit. Choose to praise rather than gossip. Choose to heal rather than wound. Choose to pray, rather than curse. Choose to live, rather than die. Choose Jesus Christ over the world. God bless you. (Rod Woodson) View entire speech...

The program uses tiny IR-RF sensors installed in soap dispensers that read staff ID badges and record the location and duration of hand washing. The hospital then uses this data to identify which employees are not washing their hands for an adequate amount of time.
The system, developed using the technology of Versus Tech. and Dynamic Computer Corp., can also function as a kind of alarm, alerting employees in real time when they forget to wash their hands. Read More
