I was going to do some blogging over on a music centered social network, until making an uncomfortable discovery. The management of the network was insane. “Yeah, man, they’re off the hook … whoo!” No. Nuts. Whacky. Bonkers. Looney tunes – and backed by a major corporation, which just made the world seem a little more wondrous than it did before.

Knowing as many crazy people as I cared to, as I suspect most people do, I decided to transplant my old blog (which was up to a grand total of one post, the one you just saw below) to a new location, one not run by crazy people. The old blog was going to have a very narrow musical focus, for algorithm related reasons – submission of music files to groups was done automatically, by AI, so if I listened to more than one type of music on the same account, I’d be polluting the pools, or whatever one would call the collections of recordings for each group, with grossly off topic material, automatically, whether I wished to or not. So, the only music that you were going to be hearing on this blog was going to be Chinese music, not because that’s the only kind I listen to, but because this was the only way to avoid doing damage to the Chinese music groups, helping turn their list of tunes into the same list one was finding everywhere else.

That principle might carry over to other music centered social networks. I don’t know. What I do know is that I’ve decided to do my blogging about the music here, on a nice, stable network, embed videos of what I’m listening to here, and keep my content on the competitors to Looneyville … that’s what I’ll be calling the old provider, on this blog … I’ll keep that content limited to a few brief notes that will be duplicated elsewhere. Namely, here, with everything interlinking, as usual.

I didn’t have much to say yet, but knew that the feed widget on WordPress would explode if presented with an empty feed, and so I wrote an empty post, pledging to do better in the future. Probably with photos of my breakfasts, and vague, rambling over-explanations of my previous writings, which themselves weren’t read by anybody, hence the need for expository writing about them.
