The digital landscape has revolutionized the way companies operate and market their products and services. Today, web analytics is an indispensable tool that companies use to understand their website visitors’ behavior, preferences, and pain points.

Web analytics

Web analytics includes various methods for collecting data on how websites are visited, in what context the website is located, and which channels are used. Companies can use this data to improve customer journeys, streamline operations, and quickly launch new products and services.

Web analytics measures almost everything on the website and helps us analyze markets, customer data, and customer engagement. This analysis makes it possible to redefine target groups, competitors, buyer profiles, and sharpen the offer you give the market. Without web analytics, it becomes difficult to see if the site is working correctly.

It makes marketing, sales, technology departments, or management more challenging to talk about website performance.

Data-driven marketing is a paradigm shift, and businesses must learn how to use web analytics to succeed in this digital age. As a data-driven analyst, you need to look at data and choose which data to measure. When a company starts analyzing the web, they often start with basic data and validate that it is correct. This data includes how many visitors come to the site, how long they stay on the pages, where they come from, and which pages they visit the most. However, this is just the beginning.

The sharpest analysts link the web analysis to the company’s business goals and objectives. The overall purpose of the web analysis is to improve the website based on the business concept or business goals that the company or authority has with its web investment.

Conversion optimization involves setting different goals for your website, such as getting more leads for your salesforce, measuring and increasing sales, and measuring email conversion rates.

It is necessary to analyze different digital channels such as SEO, Google Ads, email marketing, Facebook, and affiliates to evaluate the most successful channels for the company.

This evaluation helps businesses distribute their marketing budget according to the channels that provide the most customers.

Companies have a range of web analytics tools to choose from, such as Google Analytics, Google Datastudio, Adobe Analytics, and Kissmetrics. Each tool has its own unique features and capabilities, so businesses should choose one that fits their specific needs.

Web analytics can identify problem areas on a website, such as exit pages, pages with a high bounce rate, and slow-loading pages. Companies can use various tools such as heatmaps, visitor session recording, surveys, form analytics, A/B testing, and demographic analysis to examine different problem areas on the site.

In conclusion, web analytics is an essential tool for any company that wants to succeed in the digital world. Companies can use web analytics to understand their customers’ behavior, preferences, and pain points, thereby enhancing their customer journeys, streamlining operations, and launching new products and services.

By analyzing different digital channels, companies can identify which channels provide the most customers and distribute their marketing budget accordingly. Companies have a range of web analytics tools to choose from, and they must choose the one that fits their specific needs. Finally, companies must be proactive in analyzing their website’s data and identifying problem areas to make concrete suggestions for improvements and measures.

Ecommerce – increase sales to your e-commerce with more effective SEO

In 2021, e-commerce sales amounted to 4.9 trillion dollars. (One trillion equals one million million while Americans talk trillions). 72% of sales ie 3.56 trillion dollars came over the mobile phone so you need to make sure that your e-commerce is adapted for the mobile.

Do you have problems increasing growth and sales by creating more sales online? Through SEO, we can help you get more online transactions. E-commerce is an increasing share of retail and more companies are starting to develop a strategy based on SEO and Google.

For e-commerce, SEO is business-critical

The basis of all e-merchants is to be visible on Google both SEO and Google Ads. Google Ads costs money, so if you want to scale up the business with ads, you need to have a large budget while SEO does not cost anything but should be seen as a long-term investment.

In addition, Google Ads and SEO are related in such a way that you need to have good landing pages to get more effective advertising with lower advertising prices and better exchange of your advertising budget.

Do you want to improve your current e-commerce and get it to search engine optimized and make the site visible online for both the brand and products?

Or do you want to start a brand new e-commerce site? If you have an online shop, you know how important it is to drive visitors to your online store and then it is important that you reach the right target group and that the site is optimized so that the various products are highly visible on Google.

Search engine optimisation for e-commerce is often about measuring and improving conversions on the keywords where you have good sales, low competition and high gross margins.

Google Ads without optimisation is like throwing a big chunk of the budget into the lake where you constantly have to spend large sums every month. Through effective SEO, you get the ads to work better as the landing pages become more effective.

Build a content structure that works

When you build a website, content structure is extremely important and that you build good category pages based on what customers are looking for.
Make sure you use cancellation, ie that you tell Google which page you want to rank on.
You can make your products appear free/organic on Google shopping and automatically add structured data to your pages. You also need to work with the user experience by offering related products.

Make sure you have solid SEO processes

In the first level, SEO companies usually make sure that the structure is right. It is often about building good category pages is good but to get to the top you need to work structured with several other parts.

Make sure that the site meets the requirements of technical SEO

Make sure you target the right keywords that customers are asking for with advanced search behavioral analytics

Build links to your website with digital PR

Optimize product pages

Avoid duplicate content by cannibalizing pages that are about the same things

Onsite optimisation and onpage optimisation

Make sure the server is fast

Make sure to prioritize how the site works in the mobile and make mobile adjustments

Be sure to update content and publish new content periodically

Measure different KPIs

Do you have quality links from other sites?
You need to link to your pages as there is fierce competition to be seen on. Many SEO companies offer links from their networks which worked several years ago. If you buy links from bad link networks, you take a huge risk that the website will be penalized by Google.

Millennial has meant a change of trend in e-commerce

E-commerce will grow because the millennial target group – those born between 1980-2000 – is an important consumer group that will grow in purchasing power . According to Goldman & Sachs, which has looked at the target group in the US, they will increase their consumption by 15% over the next 5 years while the age group before them – ie baby boomers – will reduce their consumption by 10%.

Millennial is a target group that grew up with the Internet, mobile telephony and social media. In addition to using the internet more for their own price comparisons, millennials are 3 times more likely to talk about a product on social media than baby boomers and 10 times more likely to blog about it.

Traffic sources in e-commerce are the same as in retail

In e-commerce, they work with several different channels with the aim of driving up sales to online and physical stores. An important measure is, for example, new customers to the store and regular visits.

Make sure your customers find you and drive traffic through organic search engine optimization and SEO. Customers do research and if you are not involved early in the process, you lose many potential customers.

Direct traffic that you visit the site directly, which is important for the strength of the brand

Google ads and sponsored products and Google shopping

Onsite display

Offsite display

Social media advertising and organic traffic against (Facebook and Pinterest)

YouTube

Newsletter

New traffic sources like Instacart advertising

Our methodology gives you an accurate strategy

Over the years, we have helped many of the largest brands with strategic advice in e-commerce.

We have a methodology around SEO after working with several different webshops to optimise the sites for Google.

Our technical experience extends from Australia-developed systems to international e-commerce systems in e-commerce.

What is content marketing?

Definition of content marketing (content marketing) is a form of digital marketing that involves the creation and sharing of media and publishing content in different channels. The purpose is to distribute valuable content to customers in order to strengthen its position as the leading player in a specific business area.

Content marketing is a way of marketing your business that is increasingly used by larger companies. The main focus in content marketing, is about putting the company at the center by creating editorial content. By looking at the company’s needs and helping their customers absorb content, you find new customers and retain existing customers.

Prerequisites for more effective content marketing

Has a good CMS (Content Management System). We have experience of many of the major CMS systems such as WordPress, Hubspot, Drupal and Adobe AEM and that the implementation with technical SEO is done correctly

Creates guidelines and templates for how to write content

Educates editors how to write for the web and SEO

Defines goals and KPIs for content

Reports how the pages work and their ranking on Google

Create editorial content that is of interest to your target audience

Content marketing is a strategic and effective way to communicate with your target audiences and the core to get digital marketing flying. Many marketing departments have great challenges in publishing quality and business-critical content. Content marketing is a strategy that is increasingly used by large brands but also smaller startup companies because it is a method that works and is cost effective. The technology is largely about grouping different information areas based on search volumes, ie what visitors search on Google.

When you build a website, you need to have top quality content. The texts created must be readable and distribute valuable and interesting content to potential customers. You also need to constantly go back to old content and update it so that the pages are of good quality. Google’s algorithms reward rewards that are current ( freshness algorithm ).

Through storytelling and good content, efficient and profitable customer journeys are created

Content marketing is a method that keeps visitors on the site, makes them come back and inspires them to buy.

The purpose and goals of content marketing are often about:

Strengthen brand awareness

An integral part of marketing that builds credibility

Drive conversions and increase sales

Cost reductions

Increased customer loyalty

Nurture relationships

Instead of traditional marketing where you pitch your products or services through hard sales, content marketing works to give potential buyers good service, discover fun things by creating relevant and editorial content.

Content marketing means that smaller brands have the opportunity to dominate a niche with good content. To be able to create relevant content, you need a clearly defined audience that you can reach with your texts.

Do you have the right content on your site?

The information can be presented in a variety of formats, including blogs, news, videos, white books, ebooks, infographics, case studies, how-to guides, etc.

Many companies build information from the inside out and do not think about the visitors to the site but structure their information according to how they are organized.

An informative website gives you more visitors and strengthens your brand. Current content with quality means that more users visit the site, which strengthens the business goals and business planning .

Do you know your target audience in depth?

Traditionally, marketers have tried to define their target audiences and create content based on target audiences. Modern marketing is about knowing the target audience and their search intentions.

In the inbound methodology, people usually talk about different personas where they try to give the target group demographic data, psychographic data and sometimes even a name. It can be very complicated, especially when you start disseminating information on social media to create virtual dissemination.

Other popular concepts are that the marketer looks at the customer journey. In order for this to be done effectively, measuring points may be needed and sometimes marketing automation tools are used.

If you want a lot of visitors to your site, you should always research and start from search volumes and do search behavior analysis. By researching the search volumes before writing content, your website becomes significantly more efficient and has the opportunity to meet the right and larger target group.

You can identify competitors’ search traffic and even perform gap analyzes to identify content that has not been done. By measuring specific keywords and how they rank, you can also see how effective your marketing is towards your competitors in different business segments.

One method that is also extremely effective is to create content and talk to customer service and those who have customer contacts to identify and answer the most common questions.

Create and distribute valuable content

An important aspect is that you do not want to ruin your brand by creating bad information without a clear message. All information begins with the language and has a tonality that uses the same language as the target group.

What characterizes well-written and editorial content?

Good content needs to be based on your target group that you want to reach and the brief that is set up. Start with the goal of what the company is working on and who will buy the products and services by writing so that it seems that you understand the subject

Good content is often based on storytelling and gives the reader practical help

Texts are often informative and entertaining with the right tonality and industry expertise

Good content is grammatically correct where the language level needs to be at the mother tongue level

Good content and good structure

Long texts help pages to appear on Google search results. According to the State of Content Marketing Report 2021 , pages with more than 3000 words have three times more traffic and four times more shares.

The length of the pieces needs to be broken up so that it becomes legible

Good content needs to be unique and published regularly and updated

Good content is accurate in terms of SEO and also gets related texts, internal linking and acts as a magnet for external links from other websites

Good content is spread quickly and virtually

Always make sure that there are call to action , ie conversion points that work

Based on data and therefore you always need to make sure to measure your content and how it works

How do you get started with content marketing?

The basic requirements for the content are that the information must be informative and created for your target group – but also that the texts can be disseminated easily and quickly. Of course, the content must be grammatically correct and entertaining for the readers. A basic requirement is that the text be search engine optimized and adapted for search engines.

Some people choose to create an editorial calendar, but another method is to use Google Sheet and identify landing pages that you want to build. Often you choose keywords that have a lot of search volume but also where there is an intention to buy and the competition to end up high is easier

We think that content marketing is about creating new and unique content and reports that are relevant to your industry. We also work with Digital PR and to pitch readable content to newspapers and media.

What kind of material creates leads most effectively?

Several companies spend a lot of time producing product presentations, which is rarely in demand. According to a study by the CMO Council report, the most effective formats for obtaining qualified leads are:

White papers

YouTube videos

Analysis reports

Blogging

Webcasts

We believe that companies must become significantly better around what is called mid-funnel, which bridges the gap between top-funnel and the sales themselves. It includes more detailed information for potential customers such as:

Newsletter

E-books

Case studies

Local pages

Hyper efficient forms and conversion points on landing pages

Chatbots to create dialogue directly with customers

Also, make sure you use new technologies like AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) and Schema. Through the schedule, you can be seen in Google’s search results and what is called snippets.

Editorial content and measurability

Content marketing uses modern methods to continuously improve content. There are various techniques and tactical methods to be able to scale up content marketing and gain market share. Taking out different types of reports for search engine optimization, trends and content are natural building blocks and mean that the content can be continuously improved and renewed. Read more about how to write a content plan.

Where you publish content can vary

Own website

Blogs and other people’s websites

Social media

Appar

Podcast

YouTube

An important part is to continuously measure your content and produce KPIs so you know how the pages perform. It is possible to measure the number of visitors to the pages, but you can also see exactly how your pages work on Google and what ranking you have for the content. In general, you deserve a place in Google’s search results based on how good your content is to users.

What laws regulate content marketing?

Writing editorial content gives rise to some difficult questions. From a consumer perspective, it is important that the information is relevant, accurate, not perceived as advertising but informative and authentic.

Dissemination in the digital channels

There are several digital channels that you need to use to spread and publish your content to your target audiences.

Organic ( SEO ) or search engine optimization usually consists of 60-70% of the traffic to a website

Social media and social advertising

Google ads mainly the search network but also the display network, the video network

Display advertising and programmatic purchasing

Retargeting

Video and YouTube

Newsletter

Other external websites (referals) and influencers

Get help from a content agency?

Many larger companies have their own marketing department that works with content. They know the company’s business concept but often get stuck in internal processes. We believe that by hiring SEO specialists who support the marketing department, there is a potential to increase visibility even more.
Well-written texts and good content give customers an understanding of the service or product, which gives you business and increased sales. Reaching customers early in the buying process has become increasingly important and marketing departments are working more intensively to put their own company at the center already when customers start looking for information.

Investing in content marketing can be complicated and requires new work processes that often take a long time to complete. But at the same time, there are simple methods so that you get results quickly.

One is to create a content plan or content plan where you have a publishing schedule for the content you need within your niche.

Content Marketing offers a huge opportunity for companies to increase their results. By delivering valuable and relevant content to users, you can improve your reputation online.

Content marketing is not just about creating and distributing content. It is a strategic approach that allows you to attract and engage a defined target group and create profitable customer actions.

You can develop a decent content marketing strategy through this guide.

The Four Elements of a Content Marketing Strategy

An effective Content Marketing strategy must have four core elements to succeed.Brand placement

Value proposition from own media channels

Business goals strategic plan.
Let’s see why these elements are important for Content Marketing and how you can start implementing each one of them.

1. Brand positioning

A defined brand and product positioning will help you provide a consistent audience experience. You can easily create the perfect branding through the right content marketing channels.

The following questions will help you to find your position on the market:

Who are my existing and potential customers?

What kind of experience do they seek?

How do my competitors promote their brands?

What is the unique value of my brand?

What problems does my product help solve?

What makes it a better choice over my competitors?

How can I highlight my brand’s personality / identity?

2. Value proposition from own media channels

To place your business as a credible content source, you need to define your own media channels (eg email list, social media followers, etc.). What unique value do you give to your audience with your content?

How do you stand out from other content creators? Why should readers choose to follow your content channels?

Start exploring your target audience to identify what kind of information they are looking for. Then analyse your competitors’ content strategies to find your editorial niche.

Often, companies focus on their market rivals and do not give enough attention to other content creators. When you decide to develop “owned media”, you should consider everyone in your area of expertise as potential competitors.

3. Business goals

Providing value to your target audience is an integral part of a successful content strategy.

Identify business goals your business needs to achieve. And find out how Content Marketing will bring your business closer to those goals. How many resources do you need to invest in your content strategy and what results do you want from this?

4. Strategic plan

A strategic plan should focus on your goals and exactly how to achieve them. It helps you think through every step of your content strategy. This plan will help you decide who you want to reach with your Content Marketing venture, how to deliver that content to them.

Now let’s see how you can develop a perfect content plan with some helpful tips and tools to help you become more efficient.

Seven steps to create a complete content marketing strategy

With long-term planning, you can focus on your business goals, anticipate challenges, and divide resources. By outsourcing these seven steps, you can develop and implement a complete strategy for content strategy step by step.

Step 1: Review your existing content

A content review can help you stand out in an era of mass content production or content overflow. Considering that there are about 1.6 billion websites and more than 70 million blog posts published monthly. Creating content without understanding what works for your target group and your company is a waste of time and resources.

Collect all your existing content and analyse it to understand the actual state of your content. What kind of content does your target audience attract? Which content will give you the best results? What do you need to improve?

Step 2: Set your goals

In order for your goals to be clear, ensure that each content part is based on meeting these goals and organizing them in a hierarchical manner. First begin with goals related to your vision and mission.

Then identify long-term and short-term goals that your Content Marketing can help achieve. Long-term strategic goals should take precedence over specific operational goals in your plan.

Don’t forget that your Content Marketing goals should help achieve your business goals.

Step 3: Determine your target audience

Finding your target audience and including them in your content is the key to success in Content Marketing. To do this, you need to understand their lifestyle, worries, problems and needs.

Creating buyer personas is very important for Content Marketing, but your target audience is not buyers. An audience includes people who are at the beginning of their buying process and just started interacting with your business.

It is important to create content that attracts your customers before the buying process. Then follow up with content that shows how your company can be helpful when they are ready to take action.

Step 4: Develop an editorial plan

When planning your content, you can divide your resources. And see which workflows take longer than expected and adjust your expectations accordingly.

Prioritise

One of the basic elements of effective planning is prioritisation. If you plan your actions, you can identify the most critical tasks you should do or things that you can easily test.

By doing this, you can protect your strategy from major failures. Also you can find opportunities for experiments that can increase your results.

Find relevant topics

To begin, you need to find out which topics your audience is interested in. A simple method I usually use is to go to Amazon.com and searches for the topic I want to write about.

In the search results, I choose the highest rating / most popular, then click on the tab; look inside. This opens up the book and then I can see the table of contents. Now I have many relevant topics to choose from. Always start with a keyword analysis before you write anything.

Use an editorial calendar to organise your work

Monday.com acts as an editorial calendar that allows you to track progress and streamline communication between multiple group members.

You can add tasks, assign them to specific people, and set deadlines – all while working with unlimited group members. With this tool you can reduce the amount of e-mail communication and thus avoid expensive mistakes.

Step 5: Plan content production

Before you start the content process, you need to think about the purpose of what you want to create. Ensure that the content covers every part of the customer journey to support your future customers at every step and ultimately develop a long-term relationship between your customer and your company.

Awareness Stage – The content is often centered on issues that your leads may have at the beginning of the buying process. This can also be content that tells about your business story, educates, informs or maintains your audience.

Consideration Stage / Consideration – When they continue through the consideration phase, the prospects will want to know more. Help them understand why they need help. guide them through how others have solved similar problems in the past; and discuss which steps may be necessary to follow up.

Decision stage / Decision – The content is designed to help potential leads decide why you are the best choice to help them. Case studies, customer reviews and analysis of the work you have done before can be helpful at this stage.

Retention Stage / Retention – Raise various ways to get the most out of your product or service, as well as ways to solve common problems and new features. To anticipate the issues they will ask and answer them preventively.

Advocacy Stage / Promotion – Content that highlights the parts of your company can turn customers into evangelists. These can be things that reflect your business values, efforts or outstanding employees.

Diversify your content

Include a varied mix of content types in your plan to reach out to more people in your audience. If you have limited content creation resources, these three tips can help you be more productive:

Create SEO-friendly content

35% of all site traffic comes from organic search; That is why search engine optimisation is important. Once your content is created, you can use SEO by Yoast (WordPress user) or SEMrush SEO Writing Assistant to make articles are optimised for organic search.

Transform your content

When an article published, you can convert it to reach new readers who may prefer a different format. Simple ways to reuse existing content are:

Convert an article to an infographic, slideshow or video.

Segment a long article or video into shorter articles that you can publish as a series.

Combine cards to create a white paper or a long article.

Create image presentations.

Create useful snippets and informative images for social media.

Take advantage of user-generated content

Include user-generated content in your plan to strengthen your reputation / brand. Reviews, comments, photos and videos create legitimacy for your promises.

Step 6: Plan content distribution

We have already mentioned that one of the core elements of Content Marketing owned media development. Earned media and paid media, in turn, constitute important parts of a content distribution strategy.
You can see below how owned, earned and paid media can work together:

Create an integrated Omni channel experience

Providing omni channel communication to your target audience is the best way to keep your business in top-of-mind. By adapting the message and the goals across several channels, your target group gets a clear picture of who you are and what you can offer.

Identify the most relevant channels

Resources should go to the channels where the target audience already spends most of their time to give your content the best chance of being seen.

Specific social media analyzes and demographics can determine which channels can try to engage your customers or target audience, and which can be a waste of the budget. Using the analysis you have already compiled, you can determine where your target audience is most likely to see and consume your content.

Automate Social Media Posting

You can easily automate posts to multiple social media to save time and ensure timing accuracy.
Plan social media posts in advance with Hootsuite and check which ones get the most involvement from followers.

Step 7: Analyse content performance

Analyzing the content results is the best way to understand the type of content that works for your target audience. Your audience will give you clear signals of what attracts their interest most. Making it easier for you to come up with new content that engages them.
Content falls into four categories:

User behaviour: unique visitors, pages per session, bounce rate.

Commitment: likes, parts, comments, boards.

SEO results: organic traffic, time on site, links.

The company’s revenue: number of leads, existing potential customers, conversion rate.

In summary

While the methods used to deliver content are constantly changing, the core principles continue to be the same – developing a first-class Content Marketing strategy based on reliable data.

First of all, but, we need to find out what is actually meant by effective marketing.Depending on who you ask, you can get different answers to this question.

We would define effective marketing as efforts that help companies achieve their set goals in an effective way, which can be, for example, with the help of a small budget or within a narrow time frame. Or, a combination of both.

This will make your marketing more effective

Now that you have a better idea of what we define as effective marketing, we thought we’d share our top tips for success:

Set clear goals

First, it is important to set clear goals.Without clear goals, you grope in the dark at the same time as it is impossible to follow up and draw any conclusions about the efforts.Even before you start marketing, it is important to have clear goals!
Is it important for you to:

Get more website visitors?

Get more contact requests?

Get more purchases on your e-commerce?

Or do you have any other goals that are important?

2. Find the best channels

Once the goals are in place, it’s time to start planning new marketing efforts.

To invest in the right things, we recommend that you first find the best channels.

To dig where you stand.Usually you already do things that work very well. Things that you can do more of with simple means.

Also read: 5 Quick tips for effective marketing.

But how do you know what works and what does not?

Here it is important to take a deep dive into the data that is available. One of the easiest and best ways to dive into data is through Google Analytics (GA). A tool that most companies have installed on their website.

Exactly which KPIs you should look for obviously depends on which goals you have set. One tip, yet, is to start by navigating to GA.Once there, you can navigate toAcquisitions> All Traffic> Source / Medium.

This way you get a good overview of how people find your site. You can also see how long they stay on your site if they have implemented the desired actions (assuming conversion tracking is set up) and much more.

Do you notice that the traffic that comes from Facebook meets your goals to a much greater extent than other channels? Then put more effort into this!

Do you notice that the organic traffic coming from Google meets your goals to a much greater extent than other channels? Then put more effort into this!

Yes, you understand stuff.Dig where you stand by finding the channels that have the highest conversion rate based on your goals.

3. Find the best type of content

As you can find the best marketing channels, you can also find the best type of content. Usually one can distinguish a common thread among the type of content that converts. Exactly how you do this, but, varies depending on which channel it is and what goals you have set.

If it is Facebook, you can navigate to your Facebook page and click onStatisticsfollowed posts. Here, for example, it can be helpful to look at which posts have the highest reach and interaction, if such is part of the goal.

For more information about how to choose the right marketing channels, Click here.

4. Do research among internal searches

Many websites have a search function, ie a small search box where users can search for content. If you have one, I recommend you navigate to Google Analytics followed by Behavior> Website Search> Search Terms .

Here you can see which keywords and terms people use when they do searches on your site. In other words, it reveals what your visitors really want to know more about, and what you should create marketing around.

5. Step to the work

Last but not least, it’s time to move on and start planning your upcoming marketing efforts, based on your insights. By doing this you increase the chances of success with effective marketing!

No, we know – there is no quick fix to improving the impact of marketing. But there are definitely some tricks that can make a big difference for most people. Here five shortcuts to more effective marketing that can give you fast results.

Let’s find what is effective marketing?

1. Search for a gold mine

Does your website have a search function? Then this is a goldmine to analyze.
Internal search , or site search , reveals what your visitors want to know more about. By getting this information you can plan your digital marketing.

Site search is a great function to identify keywords & Content for new pages. The site search words (Keywords) provide you a clear picture of the information you need to highlight.

Users searching for something means they can’t find it in navigation.
To start collecting search data on your site, enable Site Search in your Google Analytics account – here’s Google’s guide on how to do it. You can also contact us and get help to implement an internal search or get started and measure it.

2. Sponsor in social media

Do you want to sponsor your social media posts? Don’t do it right after publishing the post. Wait after posting the content on your social media.

The first hour you will still be able to ride at the pleasure of the news – the channel gives your post a push because it is so fresh. When that effect starts to subside, you can sponsor the post. In this way , you take advantage of the social media’s built-in algorithms and get the most possible reach right from the start.

Focus on lookalike audiences

If you run marketing on Facebook and have not tested lookalike audiences to target your ads yet – dare to try. Here are the results to reap!

Instead of manually targeting your ads, you can let Facebook find an audience that is like your existing users or followers . Facebook then identifies common characteristics of these and directs your ads to new users who are as like them as possible – a lookalike target group.

Here’s Facebook’s own guide on how to create a lookalike audience .

4. Fix the leaks on your website

We meet many companies that have good visitor traffic to their websites but a high bounce rate. ie that visitors leave the site early.
This is often a sign that the visitors did not find the site interesting enough. The visitors did not find what they were looking for. Hence they quit the site.

Few things are as cost-effective and valuable as doing a quick analysis of what the flow of visitors through the website looks like , to find out where it “leaks”.

By adding new content, CTAs (buttons and links) or changing the design, you can capture your visitors where they usually leave. Also can increase the likelihood that they will continue their journey through the site towards conversion.

Read more about customizing your site with conversion optimization here.

5. Identification and embarrassment – your secret weapon

No matter how good you are at reaching your target audience, your message must be compelling.

The concepts we have seen succeed best often have one thing in common: They are based on messages that the target group recognizes themselves in , preferably in a slightly embarrassing way.
Messages that drive with a typical feature of the target audience that your products or services cure (or support) tend to go viral and spread digitally. We simply love tagging like-minded people in posts that strike something that is close to our personality.

For example, do you market banking services – think about things your target audience is doing secretly that reveal how bad they are in personal finance and that show that they need you. Operate with home-made solutions, pride, prestige and social codes. Works almost always!

Summary: 5 quick tips for more effective marketing

Analyse internal searches on your site

Wait a while with the sponsorship

Try lookalike audiences

Look for leaks on your website

Build campaigns based on the identification

Digital Marketing

You have probably noticed that the digital marketing method has become both more common and more important. What digital marketing means more precisely can, however, vary depending on which platforms and channels you use for your company.

In this post, I will go through what digital marketing is and who benefits from digital marketing and why. I will also describe what SEO and SEM are and how it works.

Finally, I will also give you an overview of the important responsibilities that exist in digital marketing. So that you know how to build a team that is responsible for this.

What is digital marketing?

Digital marketing refers, just as the name suggests, to the marketing that takes place digitally. More precisely, it is about marketing via various digital platforms and digital channels.

This is the marketing you do to reach your customers via computer, mobile, or tablet. Through these devices, you can place your ads via social media or embed them in various websites and the website’s services.

Online presence

If you use Internet marketing, you are probably familiar with terms such as web ads, SEO, Rankings & email marketing.

Of course, you can also look at your e-marketing as a complement to your more traditional advertising campaigns. Your digital marketing operates in fields other than the traditional marketing channels, such as newspapers, TV and the public space. See for example how Nike here uses a large billboard as part of their marketing.

Using digital marketing channels to reach your customers enables you to reach more target groups.

How social media interacts with your digital marketing

When using social media for your digital marketing, some of the most common networks to use are Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, and blogs. See here an example of how ads are placed on Facebook.

The biggest advantage for you to use social channels for your digital marketing. So you can reach out to your potential customers and also create a relationship with them. This has its explanation in the nature of social media – that they are interactive platforms.

The interactive contact that you create with your potential customers gives them an experience of closeness, as you can communicate with them in a very fast and efficient way. You can also give individuals the opportunity to closely follow all the news regarding your business by sharing it in all your social platforms. See here how we at SEO Expert Melbourne use our LinkedIn profile to communicate about our webinars.

Digital marketing with influencers

In recent years, you also have the opportunity to use influencers to market your goods and services.

An influencer is a person who is active on social media and who has the opportunity to reach out to – and above all influence – a number of other people who follow this influencer in various digital channels. As influencers have often built a network around their channels, their name can also be seen as a brand in itself.

Who benefits from digital marketing and why?

In some cases, you may need to differentiate between traditional marketing, also called outbound marketing, and digital marketing also called inbound marketing. This is important as both the platforms and strategies you will use in the two options differ.

Simply described, you use traditional marketing to actively disseminate information through advertising and advertisements via, for example, regular to your potential customers. There is no special selection for who is defined as potential customers, but it includes virtually everyone.

Traditional marketing can lead to you gaining new customers, and thus increased sales. However, it is important that you pay attention not to make anyone annoyed with you and your brand as you can also send offers to people who are not interested in your business.

Let me summarize: when you use digital marketing, it’s not about getting as many people as possible to find your channels – on the contrary, it’s about finding the right people there. By the right people I mean the people who are actively looking for and looking for what your company offers. It is then these people you can build a relationship with and finally sell your goods or services to.

The four key stages of digital marketing

1. Attract your potential customers to visit your website or other digital platforms

Make sure the right people find your website and your other digital platforms. This is usually done by a person finding your business after searching for information on a search engine.

The people who end up on your website from a search engine have used a specific keyword to find what they are looking for. It is therefore important that your website contains the information that the person in question wants to receive.

If your page does not have that information, the person will leave your page and look further. In the worst case, they may instead find one of your competitors who is better at answering the question.

2. Create a strong bond between your visitors and your business

Once one of your potential customers has found your website, the next step is to create a bond between and a relationship with your company and what you offer.

One way, for example, is for your visitors to leave their email address so you can send them newsletters. You can encourage visitors to give you their email addresses by, for example, offering a discount.

3. Convert your visitors and potential customers into actual customers

After you have established a first relationship with your visitors, it is time to convert them into customers. There are a number of different strategies you can use to succeed in this. Some examples are CRM, marketing automation and closed-loop reporting.

The visitors you succeed in converting to customers, you can then try to continue selling to so that they become so-called repeat customers. A good tip is to send them offers on products that you know they have bought before.

Learn how to boost your traffic with Google my Business listing.

4. Use your customers as a marketing channel

If you succeed in converting visitors into customers and finally also into repeat customers, while building a close relationship with them, there is a good chance that your customers will recommend your business to their friends. This is an important marketing channel for you as it costs you little and probably attracts many new customers to your business.

On Page methods

On Page aims, among other things, to create content on your pages that is relevant and that makes it easy for people who searched for an exact phrase to find your page.

It can also be about using keywords and placing them in well-chosen places in your texts, for example early in your text, in headings or early in a sentence.

Off Page methods

Off Page is about having your website linked from similar pages, where the person who finds the website may think that both websites contain relevant information.

You can do this both through links in text, direct links but also by having a link to your website in the signature on, for example, various forums. In some cases, you can also link your page via other platforms to increase your page’s indexing.

What is SEM?

SEM means search engine marketing and the abbreviation comes from the English Search Engine Marketing. If you use SEM to market your products or services, you use paid activities to increase your search engine exposure.

For example, it could be ads of various kinds, which makes your page appear at the top of the search engine and can cause people to click into your website for that reason.

The purpose of SEM is for your customers to find your site and buy the goods or services you offer.

SEM does not affect the organic relevance that your site is considered to have according to search engine algorithms. Therefore, you can of course also use SEO to influence this. Below you see both paid and organic search results.

Read our ULTIMATE Bigness guide to Digital marketing.

Different jobs and roles in digital marketing

Due to the complexity of digital marketing, it can be beneficial to have a dedicated person in charge. You can hire digital marketers as a freelancer, as a consultant or hire them in your company.

One reason to have someone responsible for your digital marketing is that the search engine algorithms change from time to time, it is important to keep you up to date on what applies, if you want to continue to be successful with your digital marketing.

Some examples of jobs in digital marketing are SEO and SEM specialist and SEO and SEM manager. Below is a brief description of what these jobs entail.

An SEO specialist is a person who works with digital marketing that is focused on search engine optimization, text content, web development, internet marketing and search engine advertising. If you work for a larger company, it is common for an SEO specialist to be part of a work team that can also include, among other things, a marketing coordinator and web developer. However, you can also hire an SEO Specialist as a consultant.

SEO Manager

An SEO manager is a marketing manager who specializes in SEO. Among other things, they can work with the technical parts of websites, to optimize the website and its content, to build links of various kinds, create social platforms and design campaigns. If you hire an SEO manager, it can be his or her job to have the overall check on the job and to follow it from start to finish.

SEM Specialist

People who work as SEM specialists work with advertisements and online marketing of various kinds. For example, it can be about analyzing and optimizing search engine marketing for companies, for example. You can also hire an SEM specialist as part of your work team but also as a freelancer or consultant.

SEM Manager

An SEM manager works to develop strategies to be able to implement successful search engine marketing. SEM managers can also work on creating your advertising campaigns that target your potential customers, and creating structures to drive relevant traffic from search engines to your site.

Have you published your new website and are in the pits to start selling online? Maybe you’ve been running the Online Store for a while, but want to take your site to the next level?

Or do you have no ambitions whatsoever about selling online, but still want a SEO-optimised website?

Regardless of status, your online store or website can get a hefty vitamin injection with some SEO.

We give you 5 SEO tips to get you started with search engine optimisation.

Firstly, If you are new to SEO, Please read our Step by Step SEO Guide.

In this guide, we give you the first glimpse into the area of search engine optimisation. Perfect for those who want to become a better customer or want to start optimising themselves.

What is Search Engine Optimisation / SEO?

What does SEO mean? SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. You can also come across the synonyms keyword optimisation or Google optimisation .

SEO is a form of marketing that involves making customisations to a web page to make it easier for a search engine. The optimisation you do also affect the position (ranking) among the organic (the results that are not ads) search results.

A survey shown that over 67% of all clicks go to the top five results. Rank 6-10 gets under 4%.

We may not need to point out how important it is to rank high on the keywords you are targeting. So, in summary, SEO is about appearing on Google – as high as possible!

How does Google work?
To understand SEO, one must first understand how Google works. Google’s vision is to organise the world’s information. They do this by having their search engine search, categorise and sort all the world’s web pages. Spiders or crawler scans the internet for sites.

Spiders move from page to page via links. You can see the links like the web that links the web – which is the internet. It reads the content of every page it visits to try to understand what the page is about.

Once Google has spun off a page, the page (along with billions of other pages) falls into the Google index.

It is from this index that Google’s algorithm puts together a so-called SERP – Search Engine Result Page. SERP – The search results page in SEO language. The search engine’s goal with the search results page is that it should consist of as relevant search results as possible.

Given the number of web pages available on the internet, it is not difficult to see why competition is often stiff in search results. Especially on commercial searches such as “shoes” and “furnishings” to name a few examples.

Tip: You can estimate the competition of a keyword by the no. of ads in SERP.

Search Engine Optimisation – Tips

You can divide the concept of search engine optimisation into three main areas.

Technical SEO (what happens “under the hood”)On Page SEO (Content on page) Backlinks often called Outreach in the SEO world.

We have chosen to pick out the most important from each area. Here are our top search engine optimisation tips!

Technical SEO – create the basic conditions for ranking

 Choose domain with care

The domain is your online brand. Choosing a domain is usually the first SEO decision one faces, and too few give the choice of domain name the love it deserves.

Choose a name that syncs with the products or services you sell and try to get your most important keyword (see search analysis in the next section)

Your domain name does not have to be the same as your business name

 Connect to Google Search Console

Most people who run a website know or use Google Analytics. But, Google Search Console is less known. We find this strange, as Search Console is almost more indispensable from an SEO perspective than Analytics.

You can see it as SEO’s Swiss army knife. We recommend that you set up an account before you start creating your first pages.
In Google Search Console, you can …

… upload an XML sitemap that makes it easy for spiders to find all your pages

… see all “dead” pages (404) and pages with other problems on your site.

… see what other domains link to you (even the spammy / malicious ones)

… see how a particular page read by Google

… see how many people have visited a specific page through a Google search – and what keyword they used to get there! (this does NOT work in Analytics anymore)

…. see how a specific page ranks on a particular keyword

 Create and upload sitemaps

A sitemap makes it easier for spiders to scan your site and find all pages. Most suppliers of website and online store solutions have functionality to create a sitemap.

To begin with, make a kind of sitemap even before you make your first page. Sketch which pages you want and how they should linked. Then you have a well thought out plan on how your website should look BEFORE you actually have your real sitemap.

There are two types of sitemaps: XML and HTML . In this guide we refer to the XML variant.

Upload your XML sitemap in Google Search Console.

 Create a flat side sheet

Given what we went through earlier, that the spiders navigate through links, it is important to get a good structure on your website. The spiders should be able to easily and quickly go through all the pages on your site.

A good rule of thumb might be that each page of your site should be accessible by 3 clicks or less. So your menu should have at most 3 levels, for example Men> Shoes> Sneakers or Services> Construction> Roof .

Avoid menus in Javascript. Each click in the menu should lead to a new page.

Here is the complete guide to SEO friendly web IA

 Avoid orphan pages

Also, remember to not have any orphaned pages ( orphans on SEO lingo), ie pages that have no link going to them.

These pages, the spiders will find it very difficult to find, which makes the chances of these pages appearing in the search is minimal.

 Avoid competition between pages

Do you run e-commerce with hundreds or thousands of articles in the online store, where the same product is available in different colours?

Then it is important to make it clear to google that you only have one page for each product; So you don’t want every colour variation to indexed. This creates internal competition between many (and almost identical) pages, and leads to so-called keyword cannibalisation and duplicate content.

This is something you want to avoid. One way to do this is to implement so-called canonical links , or canonicals in English.

Canonical links Canonical links used to tell the search engine which page is the original. If you recognise in the example above, one solution might be to put canonical links on all variation pages of a particular product. These should all then point to the main page for that particular product.

NO INDEX Another trick to avoid Google including pages in the search that you for some reason do not want or cannot optimize, may be to set the NO INDEX tag . This may include, for example, temporary landing pages for newsletters. The tag tells Google to ignore this page.

 Keep the speed up!

A page’s load time, that is, the time it takes from someone clicking your Google search result to the page being displayed, is a factor that determines the Google ranking.

Bet on having a charging time of less than 5 seconds on a 3G connection , and 2 seconds on 4G .

Test the load time on your pages using Google’s own tools . If it turns out that your pages are slow: Try optimising / reducing the images on the page.

SEO with & with out eCommerce

On page SEO – weigh every (search) word on the scale

 Do Your Keyword Analysis One of the most important parts of SEO. Since this work is not so technical, keyword work is a good first step for SEO for your business.

Investigate the search market for your area by mapping keywords , also called keywords ; What words and sentences do most people use when they Google for products or services that you and your competitors sell?

It may sound like an impossible task, but actually becomes simple by using a keyword tool, such as keywordtool.io. Follow the search trends with Google Trends to monitor consumer behaviour in your market.

 Write good (and unique) content

Google based on its ability to read and understand languages. It’s easy to fall into the trap of typing a few keywords into one page and expecting to rank high in the Google search.

Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way (anymore). Google awards well-written content with substance, which answers the question the visitor is looking for the answer.

Do sample googling on your keyword and see what pops up. This gives you clues on what people are looking for when they type this word on Google. Understanding the search intent behind the keywords is worth gold when it comes to search engine optimisation.

Spend time on your texts. Map synonyms and related concepts to the keyword you are optimising a page for. Weave these naturally in the text.

Try to get a lot of text on the page. A page with too little text can penalised, as Google sees it as thin content with no value to the visitor. The consequence of this? You guessed it right: You don’t rank.

If you are not good at writing yourself, consider if you can outsource the writing job to someone else.

 Spice up H1 or even page’s main heading ( H1 in HTML language) carry weight with the search engines. But, this element is not visible in the search results, but is only found inside the page.

Try to get a headline that attracts further reading while providing you with the most important keywords for that particular page.

 Point to your title tags
Title (also called title tag , title tag , meta title or meta title ) is one of the heaviest elements in Google’s eyes. It is the big blue link text that you see in the search results. It is also the text that you see at the top of the browser tab.

 Note!Title is not the same as heading.

Try to get your / your most important keyword for that particular page in the title, without losing its readability. Keep the title below 60 characters, including spaces, so that Google doesn’t cut your titles.

Also, keep in mind that every single page on your site should have unique titles ! See titles as a way to mark your pages in a file cabinet. You should know what the page contains by reading the title tag. Two or more similar titles create confusion for both humans and spiders!

 (Meta) describe your pages The meta description is the text that appears under the title (the big blue link text) in the search results. Here you have between 120-150 characters (depending on search and device) to summarize the content of the page. Keep in mind that the main meta description aims to win the “battle of the click” in the search results.

If you are using WordPress you are lucky. Here is the very simple guide to WordPress SEO.

Links – make sure you get votes

A large part of the ranking on Google determined by links. The more good links that lead to a particular domain, the stronger the domain becomes.

You can see each link as a kind of voice on that particular domain. These “votes” are usually called link power , link juice or page rank .

It is important to distinguish external links (links from other domains) and internal links (links between your own pages). Since this area is large, we start with a small conceptual explanation:

External links
These are, as I said, links from other domains that point to your domain. The stronger the linking domain, the better for you. And the other way around; If you get links from a bad domain, this can damage your visibility.

In Search Console, you can ask Google to ignore these links through a so-called Disavow file . But, we recommend that you read or take the help of a professional before you start using this tool.

Internal links
A good way of thinking is that external links give new link power, internal links spread it to the pages of your site that you link between.

anchor Text
When talking links, it is also important to talk anchor text . Anchor text is the text that is linked. Most often, the anchor text is formatted with, for example, bold, other colour, italics or underlining. For example, the links in this guide are blue.

We recommend that you primarily think about anchor texts when working with your internal links. The rule of thumb is that the anchor text should give a hint on what the page is about.

Example: A page about rubber boots contains a link to the running shoe page. Then the anchor text should contain the word running shoes in one form or another. This way you strengthen your running shoe page on the search “running shoes”.

 Tips on getting started with links

A good and natural first step for you is to create a site where you present your partners. On this page you link to the respective partner’s sites. A prerequisite for this, but, is that they do the same for you – otherwise you give them link power without getting anything back!

Remember not to link (donate link power) to pages that can compete with you in the search results.

Review your anchor texts on internal links. Avoid anchor texts such as “read more” and “click here”. They tell you nothing about the side you come to!

Hire an SEO company or optimise yourself?

Now that you know a little more about the topic of SEO, you can decide if search engine optimisation is something you want to test on yourself or if you should outsource the job to an SEO company.

If you only have a website where you do not have e-commerce, it may be good to make the first efforts yourself. Good to know that companies that specialise in search engine optimisation know that they can charge well.

Search engine optimisation – price in the Australian market

What does Search Engine Optimisation cost? Prices vary a lot in Australia, a little depending on where the SEO agency located and how big and famous it is. A search engine consultant can take anywhere from $ 50 to $ 150 per hour, so whether you want to buy SEO services or want to do everything yourself, it is very important that you read about SEO before.

By knowing the area you become a better customer and you can review what you paid for.

Backlinko.com has analysed 11.8 million Google search results to find the answer to the question: What factors affect ranking on the search engine’s front page? The analysis looked at content, backlinks and even pages speed (Page speed)

Summary of Common Factors for Google page 1 Rankings:

Domain authority measured by Ahrefs Domain Rating correlates with higher rankings.

Pages with many backlinks rank higher than pages that do not have as many backlinks. In fact, Google’s top-ranked pages have an average of 3.8 times more backlinks than those that rank 2 to 10.

Comprehensive content with a high “Content Grade” positioned itself higher than content that did not cover a topic in depth.

The analysis found no link between a page’s speed to load (measured by Alexa) and Google’s first page rank.

Having backlinks to several different pages seems to be important for SEO . Backlinko concluded that the number of domains linked to a page has a noticeable relationship when it comes to rankings.

Most of Google’s title tags match the keyword exactly. But, no link could found between having the keyword in its title tag and higher ranking on the first page.

Page Authority (measured by Ahrefs URL Rating) has a weak relationship with ranking.

Backlinko discovered that the number of words was evenly distributed among the top 10 results. The Google home page average contained 1,447 words.

HTML page size unrelated to rankings. In other words, a “heavy” page has the same chance of reaching high rank as a “light” page.

There was a small correlation between the length of a URL and ranking. To be a little more specific – Short URLs tend to have a slight advantage in ranking, versus long URLs.

The survey shows that the use of Schema markup has no connection with higher rankings.

Web pages where the visitor spends more time than average tend to rank higher with Google. If a user spends 3 extra seconds on a page, this has to do with ranking higher in the search results.
