Psych Mid-Season Summer Finale review and Spoilers – S05E09 – One, Maybe two, ways out

USA Network’s hit series Psych will stop for a while, but not without delivering a great Psych Summer Finale episode, named One, Maybe two, ways out.

In this Summer Finale episode of Psych, Shawn and Gus find themselves in the midst of a Bourne Identity-like hunt and chase after a U.S Government Spy seeks their help in clearing her name for a crime she supposedly didn’t commit. Franka Potente, Jon Gries, and Nestor Carbonell guest star in the Psych summer finale – “One, Maybe Two, Ways Out”

Psych summer finale – “One, Maybe Two, Ways Out” is premiering this Wednesday September 8th at 10/9C!

But what happens in the Summer Finale of Psych “One, Maybe Two, Ways Out” . Well, I don´t want to give you too many Psych Finale Spoilers, but what I can tell you is that the show has tons of action in this episode.

In the first minutes, (in one of the scenes in the Psych Videos I posted in this very same post), Gus says Franka Potente´s character undressed him with her eyes, leading to the one of the best Psych quotes of the episode: “I have the ankles of a stallion” by Gus.

One of the funniest moment of Psych Summer Finale, was during the first scene, when Shawn threw the icecream he was eating in order to run faster away from the girl who was chasing them, and Gus didn´t want to throw it away.

Martin Short will bring Back the Cat in the Hat after a lot of time out of the screen, and a not-so-good attempt by Mike Myers.

The Cat in the Hat knows a lot about that is the name of the show PBS is bringing back led by Martin Short.

Dr Seuss creation had a mission: To lead kids to books and make them read. That is still a big need nowadays, hence The cat in the hat knows a lot about that is on the way.

PBS is bringing an animated version of The Cat in the Hat, and the show will have the same mission, to be an educational program. Yahoo News explains more: Each half-hour episode consists of two 15-minute segments in which the Cat in the Hat takes neighbors Nick (Jacob Ewaniuk) and Sally (Alexa Torrington) flying in the Thingamajigger to solve a mystery of science. (In deference to modern parental caution, the kids always ask one of their mothers if it is OK to go with the Cat. The out-of-sight mom, thinking it’s all a figment of their imagination, gives her blessing.)

In the first segment, Nick and Sally learn how bees make honey. They get the scoop straight from dancing bees and their leader, Queen Priscilla Buzzoo. In Segment 2, the kids discover that the purple martin that inhabited the backyard birdhouse has disappeared. While tracking him down, they learn about bird migration. Through interstitial bits, they also learn that the feature that distinguishes birds from all other creatures is the presence of feathers.

We are reviewing all the cancelled shows and renewed shows of the season.

And this one is as no brainer as it can get, since NBC renewed America´s Got Talent, the reality TV Competition powerhouse.

NBC renewed America´s Got Talent for a sixth season, and since the show is summer´s highest rated series, the slot will be held for the show.

Albeit roster changes in the judging panels can be problematic, such as Kara Dio Guardi exits Idol news, Howie Mandel inclusion instead of David Hasselhoff was warmly embraced by audiences and the show did not suffer at all. (The whole Simon Cowell thing will be much more difficult in Idol, though)

Let´s also remember that America´s Got Talent (same as the franchise starter, Britain´s Got Talent) has a huge YouTube following, and the discovery of this season in Jackie Evancho certainly helped its cause.

Let´s also remember they held an open audition for America´s Got Talent via YouTube too, so the show is wisely embracing new media to help its development.

In the verge of this season finals of America´s Got Talent, renewal order came the shows way.

We are reviewing all the cancelled shows and renewed shows of the season.

And this time, AMC renewed The Walking Dead for a second season, and the show hasn´t even premiered!

Same thing that happened to Movie Network´s Call me Fitz renewal, and Spartacus Blood and Sand renewal,The Walking Dead is renewed before pilot episode hits TV.

Frank Darabont´s show has gotten lots of attention since a trailer aired at Comic Con, and that buzz really helprd the network to decide on a second season renewal for The Walking Dead.

As usual, AMC second season consists on 13 episodes, hence upping The Walking Dead renewal order from a first six episodes season (also usual at AMC) to a thirteen episodes second season.

Canadians are doing some things right… one of those is doing lng term bets, and letting shows develop.

We are reviewing all the cancelled shows and renewed shows of the season.

And this time, The Movie Network renewed Call Me Fitz for a second season, and the show hasn´t even premiered!

That´s not only good news for Jason Priestley, but for all of TV and audiences, who will get the chance to watch the show develop without the pressure of instant deliver.

You will be able to know the characters, the dinamics, and everythong, because the show will stick around for a while.

That´s why I think the renewal for Call me Fitz is good news.

What is Call Me Fitz About? Plot

In this half-hour comedy, we follow Richard “Fitz” Fitzpatrick (Jason Priestley), a second-hand car salesman. Richard has a knack for having a morally unacceptable behaviour while thinking that his life is perfect. After Fitz botches a test drive and puts his latest customer in a coma, he finds himself face to face with a new salesman on the lot: Larry (Ernie Grunwald), a man with a heart of gold. Besides, Larry believes he’s Fitz’s conscience and that Fitz can change. However, does Fitz really want to change?

This tuesday, September 7th debuts the new Academy Award Winner Alex Gibney directed documentary “My Trip to Al Qaeda“, that combines documentary and stage performance footage, chronicles Pulitzer prize-winning journalist Lawrence Wright´s exploration of Modern Terrorism.

On Tuesday, September 7th HBO Documentary Films presents My Trip to Al Qaeda.

Academy Award winner Alex Gibney (“Taxi to the Dark Side,” “Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room”) brings Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Lawrence Wright’s staged “My Trip to al-Qaeda,” one-man play to the screen, chronicling fundamentalist Islam’s rise to power, as well as Wright’s struggle to maintain objectivity as a journalist in the wake of 9/11.

In 2006, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Lawrence Wright staged “My Trip to al-Qaeda,” a one-man play that explored the moral dilemmas he encountered while researching his bestselling book “The Looming Tower:  al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11.”  Now, Academy Award® winner Alex Gibney (“Taxi to the Dark Side”) brings Wright’s off-Broadway show to the screen, chronicling fundamentalist Islam’s rise to power, as well as Wright’s struggle to maintain objectivity as a journalist in the wake of 9/11, in the exclusive HBO documentary My Trip to Al Qaeda, debuting TUESDAY, SEPT. 7 (9:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT).

A firsthand account of Wright’s experience researching his 2006 book “The Looming Tower:  al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11,” My trip to Al Qaeda sheds important light on al-Qaeda, Islamic radicalism, hostility to America and the U.S. military presence in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Middle East overall.  The riveting travelogue/performance piece combines Wright’s first-person narrative with documentary footage and photographs, while raising important questions about the war on terrorism, and questioning the U.S. stance as a role model as it engages in a war that erodes the country’s reputation and resources.
Lawrence Wright’s work in the Middle East dates back to 1969, when he taught at American University in Cairo, where future 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta would study.  However, the events of 9/11 intensified his focus on the causes and consequences of Islamic terrorism throughout the region, propelling him to write a book on the subject.  Wright’s acclaimed work spawned a theatrical piece that combined his journalistic insights, culled from 600 interviews and 4,100 pages of notes, with footage and photos of the places he had visited during his extensive research.
An official selection of 2010 Tribeca Film Festival, My Trip to Al Qaeda offers a crash course in modern Islamic fundamentalism.  Wright’s footage and interviews range from the radicalization of future al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri after he and other Egyptians were imprisoned for the 1981 assassination of Egyptian president Anwar El Sadat, to the rise of Osama Bin Laden (son of a wealthy Saudi contractor) after he fought the Soviets in Afghanistan during the 1980s, to America’s current dilemma as a superpower in danger of overextending its military presence in a region filled with militants who prefer death over life.
My trip to Al Qaeda blends portions of Wright’s play with backstage chats, archived television clips and footage of Wright’s interviews of people with ties to al-Qaeda and the Islamic fundamentalist movement.  Interviews include:
Yassir al-Sirri, who killed a 12-year-old girl while trying to assassinate the Egyptian prime minister and later escaped to freedom in the U.K.

Maajid Nawaz, a once-jailed Muslim who describes the torture techniques that turned intellectuals like Ayman al-Zawahiri into radicals.

Ali Salem, a playwright who imagines the “kindergarten of hate” that schools Muslim youth.

Jamal Khalifa, a Saudi businessman who was married to Bin Laden’s sister and was killed in 2007.

Lawrence Wright is an author, screenwriter, playwright and a staff writer for The New Yorker.  His 2006 history of al-Qaeda, “The Looming Tower:  al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11,” was on the New York Times bestseller list for eight weeks, was nominated for the National Book Award and won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction, among other honors.  Wright co-wrote the 1998 film “The Siege,” which depicts events eerily similar to those occurring in the U.S. after 9/11.  In 2006, his one-man play “My Trip to al-Qaeda,” based on the book, enjoyed a sold-out, six-week run in Soho.  Wright is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
An Oscar®-, Emmy®- and Grammy-winning producer, Alex Gibney wrote, directed and produced the Oscar®-winning 2008 HBO documentary “Taxi to the Dark Side,” as well as 2006’s Oscar®-nominated “Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room.”  Gibney’s directing and producing credits also include “Gonzo:  The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. American Idol is spinning fast these days, and following Simon Cowell exit on Idol, and Ellen Degeneres leaving Idol, and the yet to be confirmed inclusion of Jennifer Lopez on American Idol panel,now it´s been confirmed that Kara Dio Guardi exits Idol too.

Yes, she was not the reasons people watched the show… yes, she´s no Simon Cowell, but what will it mean for the American Idol franchise to lose three out of four judges in the same year?

Only Randy Jackson is set to come back to Idol next season.

But… will people watch American Idol without Simon Cowell? Will people watch it without Ellen? Without Dio Guardi?

My bet is what´s going to hurt Idol is the loss on Cowell, and not so much the other two… but let´s all wait and see. Maybe Nigel Lythgoe, who comes back to Idol in his producer role can work his magic and make American Idol keep up the hit status.

At least, Ryan Seacrest stayed put on Idol.

Folks at MSN.com just launched an article about Real Unusual College Classes, such as The Psychology of Facebook, Intro to Reality TV and Dance Lessons in a laundromat. But that´s the weird thing in Real Unusual College Classes, they´re real!

What´s interesting is that in most TV Shows, classes are not so unusual, rather than the main classes, and what´s unusual is what happens there (or usual, but tabu, or wrong, or dangerous).

Sometimes reality trumps fiction, and that´s what happening on these Weird Unusual College Classes, where you get to see what makes good reality TV or even dance in your pj´s on a laundromat…

But let´s see how fictional highschool or college classes are not so unusual…

The Community, a TV Show about Community college instead of an unusual college class, they are all about a study group for spanish.

Glee, the hit sensation musical revolves around Cheerleading classes, and the school choir or Glee Club, not an unusual highschool or college class there.

On Unnatural History, Cartoon Network´s original, the show follows the whereabouts of three highschool students who are on the Highschool Museum, but there´s not an unusual highschool or college class there.

On Pretty Little Liars, albeit we get to see something tabu like a romance between teacher and student, the teacher teaches Literature, so, no unusual highschool or college class there.

And the more I try to come up with an unusual college class on TV Shows, the less I can find an example.

Dirty Dancing star, and future member of Dancing With The Stars Jennifer Grey´s been diagnosed with cancer.

Doctors found a lump in her neck that was cancerous, and it came up during a routine checkup prior to her joining Dancing With the Stars cast.

Some time ago, Patrick Swayze, her costar in Dirty Dancing died to cancer, let´s all hope Jennifer Grey can fight cancer.

More news on Jennifer Grey´s health will be revealed soon, and her status for Dancing With the Stars hasn´t been modified.
