Of Prey

THE PHOTO:
I recently had a chance to visit the Healesville Sanctuary, just outside of Melbourne. The centre-piece being the 'Birds of Prey' showcase. This is a shot of Australia's biggest bird of prey - the Wedge-tailed Eagle. It's the size of a small child.

Eiffel Bling

THE PHOTO:
I took quite a few photos of the Eiffel tower when I visited Paris earlier this year, but this would probably rate as one of my favourites because of the serendipitous way the streetlight glare injected themselves into the shot.

POST PROCESSING:
I decided to process this in monochrome to let the light be the main subject in this shot rather than the iconic tower. A warming filter was applied to make it not so black and white, and the usual other processing subjects such as sharpen, lens correction, and some minor cloning of unwanted elements are present.

From the Peak II

THE PHOTO:
Every time I've visited Hong Kong (five times now), I have tried to get a good shot from the Peak. My best effort to date had been this one from 2010, but wasn't that great due to the cloud. This time, despite having the lens I really wanted at the time, I think I got a better shot.

Looking up at the wall and over-hanging bridged roof of the brand-new (doesn't even show on Google Maps yet) Central Government Complex building, Hong Kong. I loved the night tones and reflected glow.

House on the Hill

After shooting the view to Aberdeen, I was drawn to take a photo of this large house with a commanding view over the southern part of Hong Kong Island.
