If you remember the B action flicks of the 90s as fondly as I do, you'll appreciate Jack Wakes Up. The book's third-person present narration brings a movie to mind and, along with short, punchy chapters, keeps the plot moving. Though Jack Wakes Up may be a homage to action movies, Harwood's careful characterization and overall energy made Jack and his world seem new to me. And now I'd gladly visit them again.

NOW I'm ready to proclaim myself the hardest working man in showbiz! Forget about James Brown, God rest his soul, after this weekend's 4 readings in 4 nights in 4 cities over 3 states and covering over 4,100 miles, I'm ready to challange any other first-book author to bring his/her own goods and go head-to-head with a schedule like that! Damn right!

For the record, I did Phoenix/Scottsdale-Poisoned Pen- on Thursday, Tucson- Clues Unlimited- on Friday (that's T-U-C-S-O-N, thanks Daniel), then Houston- Murder by the Book- on Saturday, followed by fun at Two Rows... and then I flew home to appear at Book Passage in Marin County on Sunday night! Yeah. Boo-yah.

It was fun, firey, hot, humid, exciting, worthwhile, and tummy-rubbing all at the same time. Lots of early mornings, even when I tried to keep it from going that way. Thanks to everyone who came out, but especially: Kevin, Karen, Kate, Rich, Jason, Keith, C.J., Evo, Sheila, Teel, Paul, Lisa, John, Suzanne, Jeff, Todd, Jen, Gwennie, Shirley, Ttreed, and... if I forgot you, I'm very very sorry.

It's coming. That's the big news. I started preparing for the launch today by readying the manuscript for my read. I started getting things together to rip this baby out so I have all the files to start working with. I'm getting close. And soon you'll have a whole new story to sink your ears into!

Boston Globe: Solving Mystery of Finding Readers

Right on the heels of the NY Times Book Review piece, here comes the Boston Globe with a full-page article in the Arts section on my long, interesting, original road to major publication.

Once, Seth Harwood intended to get his novel published the old-fashioned way: Get the pedigree, write the manuscript, nab the agent, win the big contract. But when the Newton South graduate couldn't attract an agent for his crime thriller, he decided to do something radical: Get an audience first - by reading his book aloud, episode by episode, online.

In short, he entered the nascent world of book podcasting, and it worked. So far, 40,000 listeners have downloaded Harwood's weekly podcasts of "Jack Wakes Up," his debut crime novel - and a year ago 500 of them "stormed Amazon," as Harwood puts it, to buy copies of the book online when it was released by a small New Hampshire press.

That was enough to make the book the top-selling crime novel of the day and get the attention of an agent and a publisher, at last. This week the book was rereleased - with a bona fide marketing campaign - by Three Rivers Press, a paperback imprint of Random House.

LA Times Festival of Books

Just great to get away for a few days and have great times at the LA Times Festival of Books, an extremely impressive event of readers, writers, booksellers, you name it! Just like a huge carnival of books! A state fair of books? So much more detail is here, here: and here.

Or, to cut to the chase, thanks to Mark Coggins for: "After leaving the UCLA campus, I joined podcaster-novelist Seth Hardwood (Jack Wakes Up) and some friends for a post-festival drink (or two) at a nearby hotel. I bailed out early, but I noticed that Seth posted a Facebook status update reading, “Seth Harwood is no, really? Really?” at 3 o’clock in the morning, so I guess things continued well enough without me."

Good news is, I'm off to LA today for the LA Times Book Festival! Woot! Bad news is, I didn't get to record the final episode of YJ before I left. So that means 1) I will have something special (promise you will like it) on Sunday and the final episode of YJ will be out Tuesday, so we can mark the end of it with a combined celebration of the one-week-to-go point for the JACK WAKES UP release. I'll probably have at least 10,000 words to say about how excited that makes me!

I'm very excited about it, couldn't be more juked and feel no guilt because I completed the first draft of YOUNG JUNIUS yesterday to the tune of 136,000 words. But that's not what you care about. You care about me getting it done because now there are two more eps to go, the book will end and you'll get the final finale that you've all been waiting for! Love it!

An Open Letter to the Palms Daddies and Palms Mommas

This is where things stand (podcast): Tuesday was exactly seven weeks to the release of JACK WAKES UP. Seems like it’s really getting close, doesn’t it? At the same time, I feel like I’ve been talking this up all year (school-year) and turning your ears blue with my excitement about it all. Truth is, the excitement isn’t fake. You can tell that. At the same time, I think it’s safe to say I’ve talked it out to the point where I’m even tired of saying it, a bit. What happened here this week was that I slowed down. I’ve kept up the teaching schedule, but knowing that April, May and June… now planning things into July… things are going to be tough. Fast and furious like no Diesel’s business.

So this has been my week to stop and look around, Ferris Bueller style. You know, if you don’t do it once in a while you don’t ever appreciate life? That whole rap. But it’s true: this book release, tour, readings, notoriety of having Random House behind me, it’s all about to get real, people. Real real. And there’s nothing like that. It’s a goal I’ve worked a long, long time for and in the past few years you’ve seen me work at it really hard. You’ve supported me with encouragement and your fanship (it’s a word, now!) and those things have meant so much. I really would’ve never been able to work this hard without them. Totally true. Sure, a writer works at the desk in solitude and relative obscurity, but knowing you guys were out there, fans, listeners, readers, it made all the difference in me wanting to get to the desk every morning to crank out the day’s pages. It’s a process and a part of my life that I LOVE, and in many ways you guys have given it to me, just as I’ve given the products of it to you. We’re mutually beneficial, symbiotic even. ;-)

In any case, I’ve been writing all over and teaching out there about how good it’s been for me and my career to find you. I found you by podcasting and that’s the word I’m preaching in these classes but the goal of it was audience building, and even I had no idea how powerful that achievement would be. You guys have sustained me so much more than just being something to feature on an agent query letter. You’ve been the big, strong brassiere that lifts my Bette Midler man-boob wings every day and gets me to be as excited as you guys hear I am every week when I drop an episode.

True. All true. (But I don’t have man-boobs, thank gawd! – Ask Sigler about what it’s like to have those.)

And so this week, I’m just taking a little time to reflect. No, it might mean you don’t get an episode of Young Junius this week, and I hope that’s OK. You see, writing’s work and sometimes we all have to take a vacation. Maybe Joelle’s crash last week made me realize that. Like Ferris said, “You have to stop and look around…” So that’s what I’m doing this week. Here’s what I’m seeing: some strong writing in my crime fiction creative writing class that’s ending, some cool crime movies (Grifters, Double Indemnity, Gamora), some great, amazing LeBron highlights from this season that make me wonder if he isn’t or wasn’t ever on steroids or human growth hormone, more basketball, playstation 3 NBA 2K9, and finally the game that is Afro Samurai. I tried making candy (chocolate) for the first time in my life. Yeah. I did. And no, I’m not going soft.
I’m taking a pause, a breath if you will, just to smell the roses before it’s time to dive back in and swim full-bore for the finishline that is May 5th and Cinco de Harwood! Yes, the readings are scheduled all around the Bay (http://sethharwood.com/tour) and in Boston and NYC. The next project? It’s to finish Young Junius, wrap that sucker the best way that I know how, write our boy through to the end and get him home safe and sound at the end of the long, long day, whatever home winds up being when all this is said and done. I know it; I just have to write it. Usually I’m all guns blazing to get that done, but something this week, something said wait. And I listened. I heard it and stopped, focused on wrapping up my classes, and I took a few breaths.

When I was 21 and just out of college, working in New York, I started my first novel, a big old, 95% true crap tome called Texas. Man did I shove that thing around among my friends like it was gold. Even lost a few over it. That was 1995-6. That was a world and over 12 years away. I wrote in NYC, taking temp jobs to earn enough money to quit for a while and just write, I punted my way out of NYC and landed back in Boston where I took night-classes in creative writing and wrote for a small-time newspaper for almost two years, I got into Iowa, the vaunted MFA program I dreamed of. I went to Iowa, lived in Iowa City, and learned one hell of a lot about writing and teaching writing while I lived there in some kind of tortured existence. (Talk about being a writer without an audience: there I was a writer with a small audience of fellow-writers wielding knives. That was tough.) I got home from that (back to Boston) and just wanted to work a job. I taught high school English for three years. (To go into that would be an entire blog post of its own!) And then I moved to California with my wife where suddenly I could teach college (which felt better) and exist on a part-timer’s salary, which gave me real time to write. I wrote JACK WAKES UP. That was fall 2005. I started podcasting it in July 2006, after gearing up by learning how to build a website on iWeb and mixing my sound thanks to Scizzle Sigler. Some of you even remember that old site, god-bless-you. Karell or somebody named SkinkLizard in Australia posted a comment on my site asking when I was going to start putting out mp3’s of my casts. Shit, I didn’t even know mp4’s were different, or that mp3’s were more universal. My first reaction to that post was, “That’s what I’ve been doing!” And I learned.

Now Sigler and I are the poster boys of Author Boot Camp. J.C. Hutchins and I are going to team up on a promo spot together. Yep, this is kind of like podcasting nirvana. It’s great, and podcasting is great. And… And it’s all brought me to where I wanted to be all along: I have a contract with a major publisher! They’re putting my book in every store in the country and when I tell people I’m a writer, I can really mean it now and say it with teeth. I feel like I’ve arrived. It’s where I really wanted to be, and I’m stopping to appreciate that.

But that’s not all. I’m arriving at a time when publishing is “wrong” or in a bad way, or in trouble; the economy is down, marketing dollars are down and newspapers are at the door to their grave (I hope they aren’t!) and do you know what? None of this worries me in the least. Know why? Because of you. The same way we got here is the same way we’re going to keep going. I’m going to give you free stories, and if you continue to like them (fingers crossed!), you’ll keep listening and telling your friends, and occasionally you’ll buy a book by me or come to a reading, or tell all your friends to buy a book. That seems like a fair enough arrangement, doesn’t it? From all the wonderful responses that I’ve gotten from you guys over the years, I’m not even afraid that you’ll say it sucks, or tell me to go fuck myself and my $13.95 offering of ink-printed pages of goodness! We have that rare writer-reader/listener relationship like Barney. Know what I mean? (We don’t have to sing the song.)

In any case, I’m buoyed and proud and thankful for the fact that we have a system, one that many other writers don’t yet understand and one they may or may not ever get to realizing, no matter how hard Scott, Evo, Hutch, Tee, Matt and I (and countless others) try. And that’s what it is. But I’m really happy I found it. And today, when I’m walking my dog and looking out at the Bay or playing Afro Samurai and finding new tracks to reference in Young Junius, even to next week’s mornings when I’m writing, I’ll be thinking of that, and I’ll be glad.

This is the 20th episode of YOUNG JUNIUS. Too bad about that Super Bowl, Arizona, I was pulling for you. In truth, Warner should've chucked up more bombs to Fitzgerald. Can't go wrong with that. Congrats to Pitt! You're always good!

This episode is kind of historic for me because that makes it the longest podcast (in episodes) I've done yet, and it's still going. I also hit 100,000 words this week in writing it, so the length moves on and there'll be more for you guys to feast your minds into!

Drop me an email if you want to do some work/recording of the Story So Far!!! I know some of you love it, but I need to know how much and if you need it!

Great stuff this week: the PW featurette on me (scroll down), the galley copies of the book came, and I've got just a few more edits to do. I'm also working with the publicist and marketer for the book in NYC and lots of things seem like they're happening and coming together... even if we're still FOUR months off. Only 4 now!?!?!? Is that really true? Yes. Wow!!

I'll be setting up readings, signings and stuff like that soon. Right now I'm looking at West Coast, NYC, and Boston, Houston and Phoenix as well! All that over the summer, but the big get out movement will have to be for the Bay Area in the month of May. Plan to be there for at least one or two readings to show your love and support! It'll be really important! That's what I'm working on.

I'll also be setting up a deal with a store for you guys soon to pre-order copies that I'll be signing! (This'll work for int'l orders too!) So that's the what's. Also the big news is that our boy Mike Connelly just wrote a blurb for the book's cover! THAT is definitely worthy of doing some damage!!

Sorry I had to keep you so long for this, but you know things have been crazy busy for me: hitting both coasts, starting my classes, staying out of the way of the Sigler Stank Tour, and then... as if all that wasn't enough, I had to read and proof a whole manuscript copy of JACK WAKES UP this week--see it at left there! One of the people I met there was Ariel Hyatt of Ariel Publicity and CyberPR. Sigler and I are working with her to promote Author Boot Camp and she's going to help me take over the blogosphere when it's time for JACK WAKES UP to take the world!

Lobby at Random House: Sweet!!Can it be I stayed away too long?? (not an episode) But it gives you a little taste…

So the trip to New York was really good. I got to bring Byrd and Julian up to date on all that I’m planning for the big release in May. Yes, I’ve talked to you guys about a lot of this, but those guys still don’t know that I’m shooting for the Chronicle bestseller list, trying to get myself onto a whole lot of writer-type blogs and even have a few other secret plans up my sleeve! So I had to tell them about all of it. I also met with Ariel of ArielPublicity/Cyber-PR about a partnership we’re starting that you’ll be hearing more about soon (see sandwich picture below).

I also had dinner with Jonathan Santlofer and Megan Abbott (of CrimeWAV fame) and MAN, was that an eye-opener: it appears that the writers in NYC have a much better sense of the doom and gloom level of those in the publishing industry than we do out here on the left coast. Makes sense, but from my POV, maybe a little ignorance is bliss this time around. Less doom and gloom in my house, anyway.

But let’s get to the interesting stuff! The part about “seeing how the sausage gets made…”  By this I mean Sinclair Lewis; I mean little desks and cubicles (officles) that aren’t as pretty as one might hope. The truth: I’m not a big fish in the publishing world and neither are the folks handling my book. On the day that I was there, the people I flew across the country to meet with all had a lot of other book meetings they had to attend. Maybe I made a bad choice of coming in so close to when everyone went on a long vacation, but that’s when I went. Oh well… I met with the head of marketing, my marketer, the head of publicity, and my publicist. The head of marketing was late to the meeting and then announced she had to leave when we were half-way underway (about a half hour in) and when she left everyone else went too. Ummm… (?) But Julian, my editor was still there, and he said something to the effect of “I could do more work or we could go get a drink right now.” It was getting close to 4:30. I said let’s go!

After that, I proceeded to hang with Julian at a nearby bar and really give him my pitch: everything I plan on doing. He wrote things down, he took notes, we drank, and the next day he emailed everyone from the meeting about all I’m planning on doing. Trip to New York saved. Truth is, Julian’s a great guy and even if he’s worried about the industry like he should be, he’s behind books he loves and he gets behind them. We had a great talk.

Corned beef at 10AM (PST)Same with Byrd. (the agent.) I know I’ve hated agents, and I was ready to worry about Byrd when he called me an hour before our planned lunch and said could we move it up a half hour because he had an important “new client” conference call he had to get back for… but thanks to the speed and efficiency of the NY subways (quick aside: seriously, after 3 years in San Francisco, the NY subways seemed like the equivalent of bullet trains!! Basically, the BART (as its name might indicate) sucks on the balls of hillbilly butt-lickers.) I was able to get all the way from 96th street on the upper west side to Byrd’s office in Union Square (14th st) in about 15 minutes. Hot damn! A New York minute indeed. Then, lunch with Byrd was wonderful. He was great, cool, into it, writerly, smart and offered valuable advice. He gave me the real picture of what I could expect uptown from Random House financially, and that helped me scale my requests/expectations accordingly. What’s more, after our lunch he invited me back to the office to check out the digs. I hit a local internet café to work on my Stanford class while he did his conference call (turned out to be a bust afterall, but he was trying) and then went up to the office.

The office? I say this as one who’s partied in a fancy NY literary office exactly once in my life—and this at a 1996 release party for an S&M short story collection—was not entirely impressive. Sure, you walk around NYC on the streets and every building looks hyper-cool, impressive, and something you’d be blessed to spend time in. But really? Space is tight, offices with doors go to big-wigs only, and the cubicles/desks that everyone else gets pretty much suck. Fact of NYC #137: those apartments you see into from street-level that have big windows and look beautiful? Those aren’t the ones most people live in. Most of the apartments in NYC are very small, have tiny kitchens, bad plumbing, and haven’t been updated in decades. It’s true.

So. The sausage? Yes, from the outside things look beautiful in NYC and there’s an energy there (so many people and so much going on) that makes living there frequently a great buzz, but it’s hard to live there too. The fanciest jobs and apartments are only for the privileged few: those who’ve clawed their way up and those who’ve been blessed. The fact of me? I’m a fresh new face in book publishing, my release is small (WE have to make it BIG) and the people who’re handling me aren’t the biggest fish in their offices either. This is how/where we all get started. That’s why it’s so important to do all I can to make this release pop. If I can get my people’s bosses impressed with the release, then we all rise. And I want to rise.

The fact: I’m a pretty young writer at 35, but my agent and editor are both younger than I am. My “old war” stories of living in NYC and working in copy-editing or on the commodities exchange? They’re really old war stories. Smile.

And as to the fast meeting? Julian explained it like this, “Most writers, they have nothing to say. They just want to hear what we’re going to do for them, which usually takes about a half hour. So that’s how long we schedule the meetings.”

Hmmm… I’d have thought that from all I’ve done in podcasting and with Sigler, they’d have known I’d have stuff to say… ideas and things I want to push on. But no matter. Now they know I have ideas, things I want to do, and with luck they’ve found out what those things are. If not now, they’ll see it in May. It’s like with the Amazon strike: I told Byrd I was going to do it three months ahead of when I did and he never read that email. Then, when I did it, he was impressed! He actually went back and read the email. Thought, Wow, he told me he was going to do this! Now Byrd’s a believer, a “Witness” in LeBron James terms. This May? Cinco de Harwood? That’s my chance to make witnesses of everyone else. And THAT’s how we do!

Great time this weekend at the Pub Crawl and Sigler reading. Yep, our boy hit #33 on the NYT Bess-eller lizzt! That’s mah boy! Lots of awesome Junkies and Palms Daddies/Palms Mommas in attendance. Made me feel right at home in the world of Sci-Fi and Fantasy at Borderlands Books.

We got: me on a trip to NYC this week to meet with Crown/Three Rivers, “The Shiv,” The Team, Byrdman, Jonathan Santlofer, Megan Abbott, and everyone else the Big Apple has to offer. Downside of that is we’ll have to wait a week for Ep. 19, but believe me it’ll be worth it. Got some great new stuff percolating for the rest of the story and some time to bang it into shape will serve us all well!

Movie pick this week is Scott Phillips’s Ice Harvest, starring John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton (the ugliest dude every to share a woman with Brad Pitt) and directed by fellow Wash U (in St. Louis) alum and Ghostbuster Harold Ramis—that’s right, I was once a WU Bear. Was back in the early days. Scott is also our CrimeWAV author for the week, so you will definitely want to check out his “Ten Gallons of Infected Saliva” or “The Cuckold Avenged.” With those titles to choose from, how can you not?

Ummm, that's my inspirational quote of the day. I wrote it this morning. Maybe it's BS, but it helped me today. Why am I sharing it? Dunno, maybe it can help you or make you smile. Or maybe one of you owns a fortune cookie factory and will maybe hire me on to write a few fortunes. Anyway, have a good day. Writing-wise, today was a very good day for me.

I'll have episode 18 for you this weekend and then I'm flying to NYC Sunday to Wednesday to meet with the team from Crown/Random House/Three Rivers Press. Also the agent. Yeah, I'm kind of nervous and excited. I'm also in a good place (getting there with Young Junius). My classes both filled! The bad news for you guys is that I'm probably going to take an extra week before I come back with Episode 19. It'll be good for you in the long-run, as I'll have a chance to solidify where the story is going and put some things in the right places, really jam on the writing work for a little while. Then I'll be back and hopefully we'll all be good to go towards the ending/finale/last half or third of Young Junius and the life of our man J!

Have I mentioned that the folks who're most active on the site have the best chance of getting killed in Young Junius? It's true. You know you want to die!

I want to get everyone sorted by geography for future mailings about readings and appearances, but I only just enabled this field to be visible. We had it before, but... no one could see it. Nice, right?

More big stuff is that I'm turning 35 this week. Thursday. Mark your calendars with Sept 25th as your crime father's day of birth. This year I really turn into an adult... right? In keeping with this celebration, I will be out of internet communication and reach next weekend in near-seclusion with the vice president, Jane Gannon, and a vat of lobsters. First of all, HAPPY FATHER's DAY to all the Palms Daddies out there! Whether you gots your own kids or you're just a Palms Daddy, it's a good day to wish you a Happy Palms Father's Day. Let's make every holiday a Palms Holiday! Anyway, happy one and happy to my dad.

NEWS: So this week I heard from Jack Daniels or, more specifically, their lawyers came after JACK PALMS Crime for "Unauthorized Use of Jack Daniel's Trademark."

JACK PALMSThis, of course, refers to this design (at left), submitted way back over a year ago by Palms Daddy Ian Sim during the T-shirt design contest. A genius design? Of course. An infraction of national and international copyright law? Most certainly. So, within all the blah-blah, Darlene R. Seymour, General Counsel for Jack Daniels Properties, Inc. wants me to cease and desist from selling any of the T-shirts, mugs, and other junk (a trucker hat) that bears the design in question.

And what is this, really? It's the corporate world chasing after the JACK PALMS brand. Yes, JD has realized the international success story that is JACK PALMS CRIME and, rather than offering free alcohol (which I wouldn't mind) they're in attack mode, trying to take the JACK PALMS shirt off my back.

So what do I say to Attorney Seymour? I say, "Of course I'll take down the offending product from my gallery at Zazzle.com." (Imagine this in the voice from "Swabbing the Deck" if you will.)

Yes. Of course I will. I'll be doing it very soon. Within the next few days, Ms. Seymour. Regardless of the fact that all the Palms Daddies and Mommas love this design, I will abide by the letter of the law and remove it from my gallery of for sale swag.

Celts gameYes, it was awesome! O-Bone and I sat in the corner behind the Lakers bench, not more than 35" away from the basket that the Celtics faced in the second half. A second half where Leon Powe went absolutely NUTS, dunked about 3 times, Pierce and everybody else hit crazy 3's, the Celtics went as far as to lead by 24 points at one time and then stopped playing completely in the fourth enough to let the Lakers cut the lead to TWO with just a minute or so to go. Re-enter Paul Pierce, Senor Money whenever the Celtics needed him from start to finish, and he got the job done with a hard drive and two freethrows to build the lead back to four and effectively ice it.

More fun that a barrel of crazy Bostonians, though all of us seemed to be there, and I even got some audio to make a podcast out of as soon as I can. Good stuff, too, I hope. Notable figures on the scene (that I put eyes on): Bill Russell (I was wearing a Russell jersey under a KG one), Big Papi David Ortiz, Antoine Walker, Richard Seymour, Vince Wilfork, and Adelous Thomas of the Pats, Curt Schilling, Kevin Millar, Mike Lowell and Jon Lester of the Red Sawks and... yeah. Overall it was 100% awesome, and as rare an opportunity as one can get with awesome sports fansmanship to be in something like this.

Mostly, I should say, the game was a route until all of a sudden it wasn't, but then it was more disbelief than anything else and then the C's cliched it again. Definitely no time to take plays off (a quarter off maybe) when they're out in LA for the next three games, but they ARE HEADING OUT THERE UP 2-0.

Big, huge awesome playing from the C's and player of the game Leon Powe. Incredible. The Berkeley boy rocked the house (Powe) when I flew from Berkeley to watch. Oh yeah. And now the series shifts locations... to LA. Definitely well worth flying all the way across the country for. KInd of like a once in a lifetime thing here. And in another day I'll fly back, hopefully in time to watch game 3 from home. LA: they're there, but the Celtics are really looking good. Time to see what they can do on the road in this series. Two things worth noting: 1) This homecourt advantage is what the C's played all season for. And now they have what they worked for: a 2-0 lead from their own court. What will they do with it? MUST BE SAID: Defense is what wins championships. Somehow the commentators have forgetten this of late, but it's as true for hoops as it is for any other sport. This always hold. The Celtics offense looked pretty bad tonight until they started runnin, mostly off of good D, and this allowed them to break things open. Good defense leads to... you guessed it: easy offense. And good defense trumps good offense. This has been the Celts trademark this whole season, mostly due to the KG crazy D mentality, it seems. So if they keep it up... things should be fine. Let's see if the C's can keep up the heat.

I am BACK from the world of America Sur/Centro and I now see that we are over 100 Palms Daddies and Mommas on this site!! Hells, yes!! That gives me big ups and the only thing better than big ups for me is big ups to all you guys! So Big Ups!!

How about this: since the Celtics are in the NBA Finals (hell yes!) and I'm going all the way back to Boston to watch a game with my oldest friend, O-Bone, in the Nuevo Gahden, on Sunday night, I'm thinking I'll try to podcast some snips from the game, try to bring in some of the Boston C's gametime hijinks out into the world of JP Crime listeners. For those of you who've been to a C's game in the last 5 years, I think they've still got all the same old tricks, but maybe they've got a few new ones for KG and "Sugar Ray." Only one way to find out!

So you up for a little hoops action podcast? If you aren't, don't tell me. ;-)

Unfortunately, this episode is not the much-anticipated Episode 13 of JACK PALMS 3 - Your Title Here. What I have for you is an explanation (brief) on why I'm so beat, when the next episode of JP3 will be out, and when Joelle/Jane Gannon will be back in top form. We're like the NBA playoffs around here: beat up, tired, but digging deep to keep bringing all the good stuff for as long as we can. No going home for us. And oh, another way we're like the playoffs is there's lots of Celtics gear getting worn around here.

Got a few K7 calls from some of you guys, some new suggestions for the title of the crime stories podcast project. Also the promise of the voting section/poll for the title of JP3 to come VERY soon. AND, I explain a bit about the writing process and what's happening with the end of JP3. Believe me, when it's said and done, this little bit of respite to get my ducks in a row and do my best recording will definitely be well worth the brief pain.

I really think these guys are awesome interviewers and they asked me some questions that totally got into the meat of the JACK WAKES UP nut. We talked about some topics I hadn't considered since first writing the book. LOVE THESE GUYS, they're awesome. Thanks to Shannon Clute and Richard Edwards for the best interview ever!!!

Give the rest of their interviews a shot. You'll definitely hear some wonderful crime writers and folks who'll be on this summer's new podcast/crime project. I endorse this podcast as highly as I can!

Episode 22: Seth Harwood Revealed
Long before Seth Harwood's JACK WAKES UP went to print with Breakneck Books it came roaring into our homes as a series of expertly-produced podcasts, a serialized publication in the tradition of classic pulps, but with a throaty growl and lightening agility like that of Jack Palms's one true love-his 1966 Mustang Fastback K-Code GT.
