Introduction to Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 292

Vietnam Veterans of America is an organization that provides fellowship, public awareness, and that supports the rights of Vietnam Veterans- and all US Veterans. 

Southeast Texas Vietnam Veterans created Chapter 292 in 1986 and it is going strong today.

The Southeast Texas Chapter encourages family participation.

Membership in the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 292 is open to all Vietnam Veterans and to all Veterans with service dates of August 5, 1964 through May 7 of 1975.

The Vietnam Veterans of America Southeast Texas Chapter 292 works diligently to improve our community:

• Our SETX Vietnam Veterans envisioned and created a beautiful Veterans Memorial to all Southeast Texas Veterans. It was erected at the Ben J. Rogers Visitors Center at Ford Park, west of Beaumont. It is a beautiful memorial and would be a nice place to visit for any Southeast Texas veteran or any time you want to remember a special veteran in your life.
• Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park, 6130 Keith Road located in Beaumont, Texas. Upon completion of the park there will be picnic areas. Stay tuned for more information on this project.
• Scholarships are awarded to Southeast Texas Veterans, their families, grandchildren, and students sponsored by a chapter member.
• Community Oriented Projects and Fund Raising. Through the fundraising efforts of Vietnam Veterans of America Southeast Texas Chapter 292, many Southeast Texas non-profits have been suppported.

Mid County Seniors Find Fun and Friendship at the Port Neches Senior Center

Port Neches Senior Activities abound at the Port Neches Senior Citizen Center.

The Port Neches Senior Citizen Center is an ideal place for Port Neches seniors make new friends and renew old acquaintances.

There are a number of fun activities for Port Neches seniors to enjoy including:

• Bingo on Mondays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. Please bring a non-perishable food item to play.
• Port Neches senior chair exercise on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 a.m.
• Line Dancing for Port Neches seniors on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.
• Numerous seasonal parties for senior citizens, including Mardi Gras, 4^th of July, Halloween, and Christmas
• Old fashioned homemade ice cream, root beer floats, and watermelon are served during the summer
• Games for seniors, such as Wii bowling, Skip Bo, 42, shoot the moon, Mexican train, bean-bag-toss, or shoot a game of pool
• A small Port Neches senior library is maintained for your reading pleasure

Each month Port Neches senior birthday celebrations are held – complete with birthday cake.

There are numerous seasonal parties for Port Neches seniors to enjoy: Mardi Gras, Luau, 4th of July, Halloween, Christmas, and more.

In the summer, the Port Neches Senior Center holds old fashioned homemade ice cream and watermelons parties to help SETX seniors beat the heat.

The Center has a Wii game system, with virtual bowling tournaments enjoyed by Port Neches seniors each month.

A well-balanced meal is served for Port Neches Seniors at noon Monday – Friday, in a restaurant style setting.

Diabetic meals are available for Port Neches senior diabetics.

The meals are prepared and delivered by Nutrition and Services for Seniors in Beaumont.  A donation of $2.00 per meal is encouraged for age 60 and older (or disabled) and $4.00 per meal for Port Neches seniors under age 60, however, no one will be turned away.  Reservations are required one day in advanced (please order by 11:00 a.m.).

Once a month, a special meal is served and a reservation for the special meal is needed two weeks in advance: (409) 727-8650.

The Port Neches Senior Center is handicapped accessible.

Other programs for Port Neches seniors include:
