The seventh annual edition of CineKink NYC is scheduled for February 16-21, 2010.

Guest Review: The Anal Sex Positions Guide by Tristan Taormino

So, the first thing I noticed about this book is that at first, it comes across as aimed towards cisgendered/heterosexual vanilla couples. Which makes sense, since really, that’s the demographic that needs a book on anal sex positions, which, IMO, isn’t rocket science.

Personally, I would have liked it if there was more of a broad demo, leaning a little more queer. I especially would have liked some queer models for the photos, but hey, that’s me, what can I say? And again: the demo seems to be cis-hetero-vanilla. Though a little bit of the BDSM leaks through in some of the comments made about power dynamics of different positions.

The first section of the book covers the anal sex basics – the hows and whys, lube, communication, etc. Its a great condensation of the info in Tristan’s ‘Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex For Women’. Not everyone who picks up this book is going to have a solid grounding in the how to’s of butt-loving, so this is excellent information to have!

Also covered in a later chapter are toys, and safety issues with them – the biggest one, IMO, is using a toy with a handle or flared base. It constantly amazes me that people don’t think of that on their own, but if they don’t want to go to the hospital and explain why they got whatever they got stuck in their butt stuck up there…they’ll get something with a flared base. Tristan also shares my dislike of anal beads made of hard plastic and string – icky! Too hard to clean, and too easy to break. There are sooo many nicer types of anal beads out there, and she shows a variety of pictures of toys for people, so they can know what they’re looking for. Or at. Buying toys can be intimidating, especially if you don’t know what you’re looking for and haven’t ever bought, or even seen, a sex or butt toy before!

I particularly loved that Tristan repeatedly mentioned that, for men, attempting to ’slip in’ the back door without consent is totally not cool. Having heard stories of that from my friends in the past, I know it does happen. That is the absolute *worst* way to get someone to have the buttsechs with you!

I also love that in the commentary about each position, along with including information like how well the position is for skin to skin contact, or communication, she also covers how the position works, or doesn’t, for those who are larger, have mobility issues, or who may not be as physically strong as others. This is *excellent* information to have about a position, and this is the first book of sex positions of any type that I’ve read that talks about those issues. (And I’ve read quite a few books about sex positions. I wish someone told me that after four minutes in doggy style I’d be face down, ass up, and hugging a pillow until I built up the upper arm strength to hold it. This is information I would have liked to have known as a teen!) Though I did notice another bit of info I would have liked when I was a newly budding ass queen hadn’t been mentioned – when fucking a man in the ass, make sure you know where his balls are. I still remember the first time I whacked a mans balls with out meaning to because I was enthusiastically fucking him, and he had low hangers. Maybe guys fucking other guys figure this out on their own, but I had to learn from experience.

An excellent section of the book, towards the end, covers how to choose the ‘best’ position for anal sex. Tristan points out that for everyone, this is different. Hell, on different days, different positions are better. She talks about communication, comfort, sexual/power dynamics, access to different body parts and other topics briefly, and suggests a few positions/variations that are best for each issues. Another thing I enjoy that was carried over from the Guide are the snippets of anal erotica and short fiction included throughout the book. I luuuurved that part of the Guide, and I love it here!

Overall, I think this is a great intro to butt sex book – it covers what I find to be one of the most common questions I’m asked about anal from anal newbies – ‘what position should I try?’I think this is also an excellent book for people looking to try anal the first time, or who are new to it. For me, I find it to be a nice reference, something I can show people when I need to explain a bit of information to them. Its not quite as in depth about anal as Tristan’s ‘Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women’ in terms of anatomy and such, and it doesn’t go over fisting or other extreme anal practices, but as I said, this is a book for beginners. Us anal-sluts all had to start somewhere, and this is a great place to start!

The G-Pop

When I was doing my strange sex toy reviews, the G-Pop would have been a good addition. Not that it is bizarre like the replica Wolf Penis I reviewed, or blasphemous like the Jackhammer Jesus, or even fantastical like the Dragon’s Tongue… But, it definitely is not what I ever expected a G-spot dildo to look like. In fact, when I first saw it I was sure it was a percussion toy.

So a G-Pop is basically a sex toy with a long steel rod having a plastic handle on one end and a heavy steel ball on the other. It comes in different sizes: 1.5″, 2″ and 2.38″ diameters and various colors. The manufacturers, Steel Vineyards, also make them in gemstone varieties as well. Mine came in Cherry Red with a 2” diameter, which is very large, heavy and hard as hell. It is a heavy metal dildo that will either rock your G-spot to bliss, or leave you in serious pain.

When I first got my G-Pop it sat on my desk and I used it for percussion to massage my shoulders. It worked very well bouncing lightly off my shoulder muscles, but you have to be extremely careful not to hit the bone (even lightly) as you could seriously hurt yourself. My partner didn’t like the feeling of it as a percussion toy, saying it wigged him out. I think two of these would make ideal percussion toys together on the soft cushions of the butt, playing the flesh like a xylophone.

Percussion play is not the G-Pop’s intended purpose, however. It is meant to be inserted, like a dildo and rocked or pumped to excite the G-spot. Well, I thought I could handle a 2” diameter of unyielding steel. After all, the large end of my NJoy Pure Wand is 1 ½”, so I didn’t think an extra ½” would be anything to worry about. I’m afraid I was wrong.

I first applied my new G-spot gel, Shunga’s Rain of Love arousal gel to my G-spot. I then lubed the G-Pop up well and began rubbing it around my vulva and slowly inserting it. No go. I obviously needed some extra stimulation to get more aroused. I grabbed my trusty lusty plug-in massager the Fairy Wand and went to work on my clit, while my partner slowly rolled and twisted the G-Pop at the opening of my vagina. Every time it almost went in, it felt like my pelvic bone was going to crack and my G-Spot burned painfully. We tried this for a while to no avail. I couldn’t insert the G-Pop without feeling pain, tensing up and popping it out. Holy mother-fucker and did it hurt! The worst of it was, I was afraid if I did manage to get it inside, I would never get it out. I imagined a trip to the emergency room with this thing sticking out of me, and well, it freaked me out.

While I have tried many sex toys in the name of “science” (Ha!), I am not willing to undergo pain or fear for a review. I read both AAG’s and Essin’ Em’s reviews of the G-Pop, and while they both had to carefully work it in, they both did manage to insert the toy and both found it exquisite once inside. AAG had the largest one and Essin’ Em the smallest. So, while the G-Pop didn’t fit me in the 2” size, it would obviously fit other people. I have a small vagina and I’ve never had kids, so 2” was way too large for me. I do know that had I got the 1 ½” that it would have fit, because after trying unsuccessfully to insert the G-Pop, I got my NJoy Pure Wand out and the large end slid easily inside me, making me squirt uncontrollably. (My reward to undergoing the G-Pop pain!)

I still think that the G-Pop is a pretty groovy, unique sex toy. I would still love to try the 1 ½”, and from now on will keep that in mind when getting new toys.

Men, Women, Trans, Welcome! In this workshop we will go over the fundamentals of rope. We will teach basic ties, rope aesthetics, and rope safety.
Participants must be over 18yr.

Location: Greenwich St. (btwn Rector and Carlisle; three blocks south of the WTC site) Specific building number will be emailed upon registration.
Cost: $25- per person

The Rope Share is a bondage workshop that is structured to fit your skill levels and interests. There is one highly skilled rope instructor and one teaching assistant. The attendance will be limited to 12 students.

This month’s Rope Share workshop is a concentrated class for the beginner/novice. The instructor will teach you the basics of safety, negotiations and the elemental ties needed to start your bondage exploration.

This is a lab-environment setting and we will practice on one another. Please be open to both tie and be tied for the sake of education. Please wear comfortable clothing as there is no nudity during the class.

Bring Rope: 4 lengths of 25ft. rope; 2 lengths of 50ft.; and safety scissors. Cotton, nylon, hemp, and jute are all fine.

She is a former Chair of Lesbian Sex Mafia, an honorary member of GMSMA and an Associate Member of New York boys of Leather. She is active with National Coalition for Sexual Freedom and Leather Pride Night. Her writing has appeared in On Our backs and Prometheus magazines and she has authored two books: Spanking and CBT in a Nutshell.

Founded in 2003, CineKink is an organization that recognizes and encourages the positive depiction of sexuality and kink in film and television, most visibly through its annual film festival, CineKink NYC.

Featuring a specially-selected program of films and videos that celebrate and explore a wide diversity of sexuality, with offerings drawn from both Hollywood and beyond, works presented by CineKink range from documentary to drama, camp comedy to hot porn, mildly spicy to quite explicit – and everything in between.

In addition to screenings, the annual festival also includes a short film competition, audience choice awards, presentations, parties and a gala kick-off fundraiser, all followed by a national screening tour.

We’ve got so much great programming jammed into CineKink NYC this year-and with just two weeks to go–a headliner overview of the schedule might give you a firmer grasp on how you’re going to be spending February 16-21st!

KICK-OFF!
Put on your shiny finery and come help us kick off the seventh annual CineKink NYC in proper style! An evening to embrace fantasy and a pansexual celebration of epic proportions, in addition to music and performance, our opening night gala will feature a fine pair of spectacular cinematic morsels—THE 400 BLOW JOBS and THE SHEEP AND THE RANCH HAND. And with all proceeds going to support the continuation of CineKink’s sex-positive and kink-friendly program mission, it’s mixing and mashing for a good cause!

CINEKINK NYC SCREENINGS
The festivities then move to Anthology Film Archives (32 Second Avenue, NYC), Wednesday, February 17 through Saturday, February 20, with several different film and video programs scheduled for each day.

WEDNESDAY
Among the headliners, first up on Wednesday, February 17 at 6:45 PM, is the festival’s CineKink Season Opener screening of S&M JUDGE, a compelling drama in which a respected judge finds his job, reputation and family life in jeopardy after he and his wife begin to explore sadomasochism.

Then, at 9:10 PM, the documentary BODY MODIFICATION FREAKS, takes a first-hand look at several Japanese underground scenes–tattoo, piercing and body modification–with photographer and journalist Ryoichi “Keroppy” Maeda, himself a long-time member of the body modification community.

THURSDAY
On Thursday, February 18 at 6:45 PM it’s KINDA KINKY?, a collection of kinky shorts that will whet your appetite for a slap of the hand and a taste of the deviant.

Then, at 9:10 PM, “boylesque” sensation WAXIE MOON takes the world of neo-burlesque by storm in a hilarious and thought-provoking portrait of one artist’s unlikely journey.

FRIDAY
On Friday, February 19 at 6:45 PM, MODERN LOVE IS AUTOMATIC is the bitterly comic tale of an apathetic nurse who moonlights as a dominatrix, her aspiring model roommate, and the sad, strange world in which they live.

At 9:10 PM, SWINGERS has first-timers Diana and Julian inviting a couple they’ve met online to join them for an adventurous weekend in the country.

And at 11:00 PM, DES JOURS PLUS BELLES QUE LA NUIT, a collaboration partly from CineKink award-winner Jennifer Lyon Bell, is an homage to real, explicit love shot in real-time, opening the door to a world where arousal creeps up slowly and sweetly until it ignites.

SATURDAY
Kicking off Saturday, February 20 at 1:00 PM, MY SEXUALITY: A SENSORY EXPERIENCE shines light on five ordinary women from different backgrounds, sexual preferences and past experiences as they experiment with five deliciously different activities intended to boost both sense of self and sexuality.

At 3:00 PM a special industry showcase, BRING IT!, features a dazzling array of talent from today’s adult cinema, each representing a wide range of genres and visual styles, all stepping up with a hot sampling of their recent creative endeavors.

At 5:50 PM, FIXATION is a diverse collection of sexy shorts, with each focused obsessively on that one, particular…something.

At 8:00 PM it’s YES, MISTRESS, the film shorts program that asks (and sometimes answers!) the question: “How may I be of service?”
