Upon discovering that Seyon's World ranks fourth in the list of websites where tank trouble is most played (check for your self: Stats), even with the fact that I removed Tank Trouble from this website a while ago, I realised the game was an integral part of the site. I was a fool to remove it. So I have decided to put it back, exactly where it used to be, right at the bottom of the site, enjoy!

Don't forget to tell your friends to play tank trouble here as well.

First of all, big news, I’ve started a new website. It’s called WebMaze and it is much more focussed on the internet and computer related things than Seyon’s World. It’s sad to say I’m going to switch most of my attention to that site. However, that does not mean I’m going not going to update this site, I’ll post stuff on here which I find fun or interesting, therefore keeping it quite personal. So keep visiting back, but don’t forget to take a look at WebMaze, and tell me what you think! Leave a comment on either site or go to the Feedback page on WebMaze.

Now, to kick off the ‘personal’ (as if it wasn’t personal enough already)future of Seyon’s World, here’s my latest video. It is a stop motion animation of some desktop icons doing a little dance. It’s the summer holidays. I was bored.

Many of you from Ipswich School and have a presence on Facebook will have no doubt noticed the recent phenomenon that is Alex Temple-McCune. His awesome dancing to MC Hammer’s ‘Can’t Touch This’ has so far caused 1,623 (number correct at 8pm, 18th of March 2010) people to join the Facebook group to encourage him to participate in Britain’s Got Talent. If you would like to support him too go to ‘20,000 for Alex T-M to go on BGT and do his dance to Can't touch this’ (number is subject to change) and join in. Below is one of his videos, there should be more in the related videos section.

Yes, I haven’t posted anything in a while, and yes it is another movie trailer, but I’m sure the two of you don’t mind that much. I hope, if visitor numbers start to go up again, that I may be able to focus what I write more, say make it more about technology and the internet etc. Please leave comments about where you think the site should go, and if you feel like helping, tell as many people as you can about the site, thanks :D (there’s a share button up top).

I am sad to also announce the passing of Tank Trouble. I know it is pretty much the only thing pulling in the viewers (for all the wrong reasons) but it has to go, for one thing it takes too long to load, and when it does it makes you scroll straight to it instead of looking at what I've written. Never fear you can always find it here:

The third and final announcement concerns the name of the site. Maybe 'Seyonsworld' wasn't the best of choices but we're stuck with it now. I am however going to change the address back from seyonsworld.tk to seyonsworld.blogspot.com, as that will make my life a lot easier and provide you with a better viewing experience. When you switch to the blogspot.com address you will notice a new bar across the bottom which will let you do lots of things including chatting to anyone from Facebook, msn and others right from this site.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand, this is the new trailer for the upcoming Toy Story 3, which I’m not embarrassed to be looking forward to, much. I'm predicting it’s going to be just as successful and entertaining as the previous two, hope you like it too:

Seyonsworld Games on Wii

For those of you who don't already know, Nintendo recently released an updated version of the Internet Channel for the Wii. This version has two new main features.

Firstly, it now has extended Adobe Flash support (it is now compatible with Flash Lite 3.1). This (somehow) means that all the videos and games on Seyonsworld that were posted before this post (apart from Blow UP) are now playable on the Wii. Tank Trouble and Pacman require a keyboard but Copter works well with just the Wii remote as all you need to do is click. If you have a spare USB keyboard or can easily use the one from your computer, I would highly recommend using it as it is so much easier.

The second feature is the most important one. The Internet Channel, which used to cost ~~500 points~~ (around £3.50) is now FREE. This means everyone can now enjoy sites like BBC iPlayer, Youtube, and Seyonsworld of course on their TV! Those of you who have already paid for the Internet Channel, Nintendo say, will get 500 points sometime between late October and December to buy a NES Virtual Console game. I know they aren't the best games, but hey, its something.

If you would like to update your Internet Channel or get it for the first time here's how (you will need to have an Internet connection, obviously):

Start up your Wii, and go to the Wii Shopping Channel.
Wait for it to load then click Start Shopping.
Then click Channels.
Scroll down and click on the Internet Channel.
If you already have the Internet Channel you should see 'Update' left and if you don't you should see 'Buy/Get/Download' (I'm not sure which one... :/). Click on this.
Accept all the messages asking you if you want to download it until it ends up on the screen with Mario running around.
Once the download completes, go to the Wii menu and start using your Internet Channel.

The picture above shows, Windows 7 the latest Microsoft Windows which has been recently released. This has many new features, and looks, in my opinion, quite good.

After seeing all these features, I really wanted it, but after some digging, discovered I could have nearly all features of 7 applied to my XP for FREE (and legally- I think…)

These Features include:

New Superbar with icon windows and previews.
The new Start menu.
Transparent window borders.
The sidebar
The Windows 7 icons, cursor, and general look.
The new Aero Shake, Snap and Peek features.
The Aero Flip effect where you can go through the windows in 3D.

All this took a lot of time and effort, and requires a fair bit of technical know-how (i.e. geekiness). I was planning to go through step by step how to do this, but that would be a very long post and I didn’t want to bore people enough to make them never come back again. If you would like to know and would have the patience to read through it all, please leave a comment, if I get enough people saying they would like to know, I will post. :)

The Ashes

Foreword by Seyon: This post marks the start of a series of posts focussing on the Ashes, they will be written by Tom (no we don’t have specific authors for specific things, I had planned that but I have been overruled). As the Ashes could potentially go on for a very long time the posts will be coming in every time a test finishes, meaning they will take a long time too. I’ll try and keep putting in some games or something in between them. Enjoy the post. Oh yeah, be warned these posts could be potentially very long (Tom is an enthusiastic writer and interested in cricket…).

Four years after England's dramatic victory over Australia at the Oval in London, the Ashes return to English soil in what's probably, for England, almost/as good a chance as we had in 2005. Brett Lee's out, Shane Warne's retired, and England have just returned from a convincing performance in the 20 20 World Cup in which we were unlucky not to go further. One hundred and twenty seven years since they started, Australia are still some way ahead of England with their overall victories. The number of times Australia have won it? No less than thirty one times. Such a small urn containing what's merely the ashes of a burnt piece of cricket equipment, most likely the stumps of the first ever match of the Ashes, causes so much importance in the cricketing world and, indeed, the sporting world as a whole.

With Andy Flower as coach and Andrew Strauss as Captain of Test match Cricket, the Ashes falling into this category, Michael Vaughan, the former England Ashes Captain, won't be raising the Ashes again. With the coach being different from the coach who led England to victory in 2005, the team itself is somewhat different. Monty Panesar, for instance, who's been a new figure on the England scene since the Ashes, will be involved. Familiar faces like Strauss, Collingwood, Flintoff and Pietersen, however, won't go missed in these Test matches, the first of which started today at 10 AM English time.

What, then, of the Australian team? With Shane Warne having retired and Brett Lee being injured, Australia have lost two of their most ferocious bowlers, two that'll be sorely missed. Australia's bowling prowess, however, extends past these two, as their seven wickets today showed. Ricky Ponting returning as Captain, his raising of the Ashes for Australia was more recent than that of England, after Australia won all the Test matches consecutively in the last Ashes, held in Australia in 2007. In the same position as England, Australia's coach is different for these Ashes; Tim Nielsen wasn't coach for the Australian Ashes victory in 2007. Alongside Ponting, such Australian crickets as Symonds return to English soil for these Ashes, also the first major cricket matches to ever be held in Wales.

So what, then, of today's happenings? The ground was dry and smooth, good for batting conditions, and England's victory in the toss saw them elect to bat first. Ending up, at the end of the day, with a convincing 336 runs for 7 wickets to follow into tomorrow. With Strauss and Cook opening the batting, Cook was the first wicket of this Ashes series, caught by Hussey for just ten runs. Failing to keep the shot down, Hussey's phenomenal catch saw Cook dismissed. Bopara, Cook's replacement, got to a solid 35 runs before being caught himself. The culprit this time? Hughes. Despite staying in longer, Strauss ended up with less, catching becoming an increasing problem as Clarke sent Strauss packing.

Mitchell Johnson, the Australian bowler, had England on 90 - 3 at one point, his bowling performancee inspiring Australia as they set their fielders deep at times before having multiple slips at others. Both Prior and Flintoff were bowled by Siddle, Flintoff deflecting Siddle's ball heading wide of the stumps onto his own wicket. In a somewhat cagey performance as the day increased, England showed solidarity with Pietersen and Collingwood exercising their much honed partnership, however Collingwood's dismissal saw England somewhat shaken. Broad and Anderson, both bowlers by trade, will carry on what's been a solid and reasonably confident batting performance for England, that hopefully won't see us lose all five Tests as we did in Australia. I await tomorrow's Test with interest, and I have good reason to feel confident.

Wimbledon

Well, there goes Wimbledon for another year. This year's championship gave us a number of great matches, all of which led up to an epic mens' final. Britain's Andy Murray managed the semis, but after 4 sets, lost out to Andy Roddick. As for the ladies, Serena Williams defeated her sister Venus in yet another Williams final, having already beaten figures such as Victoria Azarenka and Elena Dementieva. The ongoing debate over the rankings system rages on. Dinara Safina has still yet to win a major, despite being currently ranked no.1 in the world. Serena has won 10 Grand Slam trophies, yet still holds it out as second best.

Roger Federer beat Haas in the semi-final to secure a match against Roddick in the final. The match went all the way to the fifth set, in which both players held their serve, until the score was 14-14. Roger had been the first to serve, so giving Roddick the disadvantage of serving to stay in the match. Federer came close to beating Roddick earlier in the set, taking Roddick's service game to deuce on a number of occasions. In the end, Roger Federer triumphed over Andy Roddick, and the game ended 16-14. Federer is now the most successful player in tennis; he now has 15 Grand Slam victories to his name. He has previously been tied with Pete Sampras on 14.

Next year will hopefully bring success for Andy Murray and Britain, but could Andy Roddick go one further and win? Rafael Nadal will also be back, ready to win back his title. His championship this year was over before it began due to injury.

We look forward to another year of sport, starting with the new football season in August.

To all game fans out there, here is a GAME. I was planning to put on lots of games but if they do not fit in to this space it ruins the whole site so I can only put on the small ones. From now on, all games will be in the 'Games' category which can be found in the categories section.

New iPhone (3G-S)

Yes people, the much acclaimed and much loved iPhone has been updated once again and this time one of the iphone's main weaknesses has been eradicated. The fact that it never had a video function had always been a point the critics centred on, but now it does. OK it's only VGA quality but it is an improvement nevertheless. Plus it comes with a built in editor which, coupled with it's intuitive touch screen should be very easy and fun to use (emphasis on should).
That's not the only new feature, other key ones include:

Voice control- enabling you to use the ipod functions as well as others with your voice.
Compass- a built in compass aiding the maps feature.
Copy & Paste- works like a computer to cut copy and paste from the web etc.
Much faster processing- somehow they've managed to make just about everything in the phone faster (including the web and apps).
Search- searches across all the content on the phone and email server.
MMS- extended multimedia messaging support.
3mp camera for stills- I know it's still not much compared to some of the 8mp heavyweights but still an improvement. It also has autofocus and manual focus (by tapping the area you want to focus on).

I realise that I am mostly writing about various software and computer related things, but I really don't have much else to talk about. When I find something interesting that is not related to computers, I'll make sure I write about it.
Today its the internet browser Firefox, especially the new 3rd one. Since its release the browser has had a new lease of life with more people using it than ever (around 20%, compared to Internet Explorer's 80%, mainly due to the fact that it is the default browser with Windows and most people can't be bothered to change it).
I use this browser and straight away I would like to recommend it to anyone and everyone. It has many good features, most of which are shared by other browsers (such as IE, Google Chrome and Opera). But the main reason why I use it is its speed (much faster than IE but not as fast as Chrome), and more importantly its customisability. This browser, through its 'add-ons' section, provides everything for everyone.
To explain my point, here is what my firefox looks like compared to what the standard Firefox 3.0 looks like (on XP):

There are quite a few add-ons there and I won't list them all. But here are the main ones I use:

Yoono- social sidebar, integrating facebook, msn etc.
Firefox Personas- changes the look of the browser with a single click
Personal Menu- gets rid of the menu bar at the top providing more space
Google Toolbar- provides many important and usefull features

These reasons make Firefox, in my opinion, the best browser there is. To make your internet experience so much better, go here to download Firefox 3.

Due to public request (two people) I will write a short review of Safari: It's very very fast, but apart from that pointless to use as Firefox and Chrome (which is almost as fast) are much better (I won't go in to details, just trust me), still beats Internet Explorer though.

Sorry about the relatively long gap, but as hardly anyone comes here anyway, I don't think anyone really minds.
Today I'm going to write about something else I found on the internet. Yes you can leave if you want. It's a new search engine to compete with Google, from Microsoft, called 'Bing'. You can try it out here (or click on the image below). It's very similar to google with images, video, shopping, maps etc. But this uses other online web applications like multimap (which is now called 'multimap from bing'). So I think its a bit like cheating.
Some good features include a different background image everyday, the abilty to play videos within the search window and previewing the text of the webpage before clicking on it. All the searches are also very customisable.
Overall I think it beats Yahoo but isn't quite as good as Google (which is a lot more accurate). To compare Google and Bing yourself go to http://www.blackdog.ie/google-bing/search.php.

Exploding Saucer

This might not be worth writing about, but I'm going to any way.
Someone had left a (ceramic?) saucer on one of the hotplates on our cooker. Our cooker doesn't have a flame so no-one knew it was on. Due to the continuous heating, the saucer expanded, and exploded.Here's a photo:

This is after all the shards had been gathered up. As you can see it only exploded on one half, the other half stayed on the cooker, while shards from the other half flew about 3 meteres away. No-one was standing in the way. Hope you found this is as funny as I did (you probably didn't).

Today I'm going to post a video. But this time it's not just a really popular one I got off YouTube. It's one of my OWN! I filmed this when we went to Colchester Zoo. The monkey just randomly started swinging on a branch, hitting the roof, very much like it was trying to escape.

Voice control

YES i've decided..........................to write about anything I feel like writing about.
Today it's about voice control programes. I found two yesterday. One is from Microsoft, called SDK sumit or other which you can download from the Microsoft Download Website. This lets you type (e.g. on Word) and do some basic stuff by saying things in to your microphone.

That's all good, but a better programme is called tazti (pronounced 'tasty'). It lets you just say things to do stuff on the web. I found it really usefull, especially on facebook. I use it a lot now. If you want to try it out you can find the xp version here (the vista version is here).

There is another option, the browser Opera 9 comes with some voice control built in. It's not as versatile as tazti but it does the job. You can download Opera here.

Now I'm guessing you're probably thinking that the face on the left is female and the right is male. You're wrong. They are both the same androgynous (neither gender) photo, just with the contrast changed. More contrast looks male and less contrast looks female. :) Something to take me away from the boredom of revision.
