I remember when the school was across the street from the opera house above a cafe called Patio I believe. I remember taking classes from all 3 of the Christiansen brothers.I remember when Sadlers wells came for the first time and used about 6 of us as Supers (extras). I remember so many reasons to love this school for giving me some happiest of memories.

I will miss your great dancing, Elana. Unforgettable as the leader in Artifact Suite, but very fine in every role. It's sad to see how many fine dancers are leaving just now, especially you and Courtney.

Courtney, I will miss seeing you dance. You always exuded such joy, always seemed to have such a radiant, sincere smile as you danced. I guess you didn't smile during Artifact Suite but you and all the dancers were awesome in that. The more typical memory of you is of really great dancing and that wonderful smile. Thank you for your artistry and joie de vivre.

Thanks everybody for all your questions! You can read the Q&A on our blog here. There were a lot of questions so it wasn't possible to answer them all, but we're hoping to get Patrick back in the near future to answer some more!

Hello Mr Armand,

As the mom of a young male student (LVL 1, 2013-14 at SFBS), I am curious how the boys class at level 1 differs from the girls class? He has never been is an all boys ballet class and is really looking forward to it!

Thank You,
Gena

Hello! At what age do you think boys benefit from being in a "boys class" versus being in their regular level coed class? At what age do you recommend students begin doing away programs for their summer intensives?

Since it seems like the dancers who are able to go to all the competitions get all the scholarships and become world famous. There are many dancers who are as good or better dancers than some of those fortunate ones. What would you suggest those who are not able to compete do to be eligible for scholarships and traineeships? Often times you have to go to a summer program to be eligible for a spot which means you have to gamble and put all your chips in one Program.

Hi, Mr. Armand!
1.What is your opinion about private lessons? Are they necessary or you think it's possible to be a great dancer without them?
2.What is the maximum number of students supposed to be in a class to get the necessary individual attention? Many European professional schools prefer small classes, while in the US there are often over than 20 students in a class.
3.What qualities do you value most in a professional student?
4.Now, that you are a director of SFB school, what changes are you planning on in the near future?
5.Do you think our students here will be less prepared for professional career compare to students from professional European schools without such classes as music, acting and character dancing?
Thank you very much!
