SFOL Recruitment Drive: September 1, 2006 - September 30, 2006

Welcome to what, I hope, will be the 1st Annual SFOL Recruitment Drive. This drive is an attempt to raise the simmer base in SFOL and, at the same time, give current members of SFOL a way to earn a few MyPoints! At the same time. Here's how it works: Every member of SFOL that recruits a Non-SFOL player to any SFOL game will have the opportunity to get 5 MyPoints, and the person with the highest number of recruitees will get a bonus of 50 MyPoints!

The Rules are as follows:

When you recruit someone to SFOL, you will need to write me an email to fsfstorm@sb254.com. This email will need to contain the following information:

YOUR AMS username and email

AMS Username and email of the person you recruited

The name of the game they joined

When the first month of the recruitee's time in SFOL is over on the sim they joined and have been active on, you will be awarded 5 MyPoints!

On October 30, 2006, the person with the most number of active recruitees will be awarded an additional 50 MyPoints!

Pretty simple, right' Have fun and let's help crank up the membership rolls in SFOL!!

She has been a host in FSF since 2004 and is a very active host. She is also the first recipient of the Martin St. Onge award for contributions made to FSF. She will be jumping in with both feet and starting a big recruiting drive, so keep a look out for more information about that. Welcome to Space Fleet Storm!

At tonight's 6th Annual Shuni Awards, the official yearly award ceremony of FSF, Space Fleet won the prestigious "Best Designed Website" award, for SFOLWeb.com.

As the webmaster and guy who redesigned the whole thing from scratch, I'd just like to say thanks to Margo for the nomination, and to all of the people who helped test the site both before and after it launched. Your hard work is very much appreciated and recognized!

Resignation of Aaron Scott, leader of Space Fleet

Dear Friends, Players, and Hosts,

It is with a heavy heart and a lot of happy memories that I am announcing my resignation as the leader of Space Fleet, effective Tuesday, July 18th, 2006. It's been a long journey, and I think that it's been an overall positive one. Unfortunately, between my professional life and my personal life, I don't have the time that's required of a good leader to continue heading up Space Fleet. As I have said to many of you on many separate occasions, "real life comes first."

While I will be resigning the position of Space Fleet Commanding Officer, I will be retaining my two hosting positions on the USS Archeron and Outpost 221, as well as my job as FSF Website Director. I will also be staying on as the webmaster for the Space Fleet (SFOL) website, located at http://www.sfolweb.com/.

FSF Margo, who has been our Fleet XO for over six months, will be taking over as the Commanding Officer of Space Fleet.

Ever since I took over the reigns of SFOL in 2003, I had one goal: Rebuild SFOL, and get it to where it was stable, so we could take the "training wheels" off again. I think that in the three years that have passed since that goal was established, we have greatly succeeded. We have eight awesome games right now. We've got our first message board and IRC games. We have successfully moved away from needing America Online to sponsor and host us. We truly are better off now than we've ever been.

I would like to thank the hosts of SFOL, both past and present. It's been a great journey, and I'm glad to be able to walk away with confidence that things are on a positive path for SFOL, and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.

Thank you all for the opportunity to lead Spacefleet Online, and to see that I can leave it with confidence and a profound sense of accomplishment.

Best Wishes,

Aaron Scott
Soon-To-Be Former Leader of Space Fleet.
