We have here, two screen shots - one is taken from Jason Neo's Facebook page, showing the email addresses that are linked to him. Never did he realise that one of that email address - nobuteru.taniguchi@gmail.com, had been used by the moniker "tsuchiya" at the infamous Sammyboy Sex Forum. We can see that he had tried to hide his real name by signing off as "Aaron" but I think we should give him credit in his own honest assessment of his looks and body.

Screencap of Jason Neo's details on Facebook

Jason "tsuchiya" Neo "connecting" with f*** buddy on SammyBoy Sex Forum

It is disgusting to find that these are the "potential" leaders the PAP is recruiting into their youth wing - Young PAP. Did YP do enough "homework" to find-out and scrutinize on the background and ideological affiliation of their candidates before they are invited to join the membership? Are they hoping to learn more about the Geylang culture through these people?

PAP have opened themselves to gambling with the casinos and now they might just be looking at bringing prostitution to greater height next.

Yes this is their new way to really connect with voters.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with WP striving to be an alternative voice in Parliament, as well as building itself up to take over the reigns of government one day. The PAP propaganda is that if you leave matters in the hands of the opposition, they will necessarily ruin things. To borrow heavily from Mr Wijeysingha, things have already been ruined. And it is not the opposition which did the damage.

The PAP has mismanaged our foreign labour, foreign talent and immigration policies. Wages for the lower income have stagnated and couples are facing the huge burden of 30 year mortgages and sky high HDB flat prices. All this damage was done with the PAP commanding an overwhelming Parliamentary majority. More damage will be done if the PAP continues to dominate Parliament.

Smear campaigns happen in every democracy. Singapore however is not yet a full-fledged democracy, and it is not just the smear campaigns, but the unique brand of fear mongering by the PAP that is preventing us from becoming a full-fledged democracy.

In most other countries, the PAP brand of fear-mongering would be thrown out of the window and roundly laughed at. Only in Singapore does the incumbent repeat the same process again and again without shame.

It is time for voters to look squarely at how illogical the PAP style of fear-mongering is. On one hand, the PAP accuses the opposition of having the ambition to take over government, as if that is a bad ambition. But doesn’t the PAP itself strive not just to be in power, but to overwhelmingly be in power in each and every election?

According to PAP logic, the opposition wants to gain power for selfish ends, while the PAP alone wants power in order to do good for the country.

Look at this brand of PAP logic squarely, and tell me whether it can ever make any sense whatsoever.

https://twitter.com/occupysg

What appears to be a humanitarian act to allow parents to make monthly CPF payout arrangements for special needs children may simply be just another facade to cover up for the groundswell discontent over CPF over the past few years. Sorry to say, and it seems as if the ruling regime is using special needs children as a shield behind which to hide when it comes to CPF.

Whatever the scheme is, nothing can cover for the hard truth that people's hard-earned monies are controlled by the PAP. When it first began, it started off as a kind scheme that aims to help people to save. CPF was taken in a positive light then. But it was during then, also when the PAP government was still governing along its original philosophy of seeing to the well-being of the people.

Today, with the massive losses at the 2008-2009 investments, the opacity over how the losses came about and how those losses were being managed by TH and GIC, and coinciding with the arbitrarily increased withdrawal age limits for CPF, one wonders what CPF really means now. Is CPF a scheme to help people save up for rainy days, or has it corrupted to a point of being just a massive golden goose for the PAP?

An example in North Korea. Back in late 1999s to early 2000s, the ruling regime was desparately short of hard cash. The typical North Koreans don't usually save their monies in the banks, which are state-controlled anyway. They prefer to keep their hard cash for the rainy days than to 'surrender' it to the banks. To entice the North Korean people to choke out their savings in the name of 'national good' (that mainly includes enriching the Army, the ruling regime and the Kim clan but not at all benefitting the country at large), the Pyongyang regime told the people to surrender their savings out of patriotism in exchange for 'People's Life Bonds'. The typical uninformed North Koreans responded positively to the call, only to realise till this day that those 'People's Life Bonds' are just useless pieces of paper. There is no improvement to their country and their lives, there is no recourse to getting the money back, criticising the regime will only invite a term in gulag or be shot. Practically, all these become a facade.

We Singaporeans are probably in a better situation. At least we don't get shot or thrown into jail for questioning CPF. However, I can't help but seeing today's distorted version of CPF as just another analogous example of the North Koreans' 'People's Life Bonds' scheme. The CPF numbers that appear on the statements are just numbers. But the question here really is: are we able to see that money if we insist upon it? Are those monies really there in the first place? Frankly, I don't wish to follow the footsteps of the North Koreans.

The only thing left to PAP now is, rather than seeking 'alternative measures' to placate the people of their CPF, to come clean on where our CPF monies are now, and to seek a review of the policy on its withdrawal by reinstating it to the original scheme.
https://twitter.com/occupysg

Singaporeans work the most number of hours per week in the world.

Most Singaporeans will never own a car because COEs are limited.

The Average home of a Singapore has fallen from 1660 sq feet to about 1000 sq feet in the past decades.

Fertility rate in Singapore has fallen to below Japan; among the lowest in the world.

Less than half the Singaporeans can meet the minimum sum for CPF retirement accounts. Meaning many will never retire.

17% of Singaporeans do not have medical insurance; the highest in the developed world give and take a few % compared with USA.

Singapore has the fastest growing foreigner population per capita in the world. Within a decade, the majority of people in Singapore will be foreign born.

Singapore has the highest paid political leaders in the world….

Singapore has the highest income gap of all developed countries.

More than one person kills himself/herself every day.

Singaporeans have the highest savings rate in the world due to CPF but many still can’t retire.

The Singapore parliament has the fewest opposition in terms of % of seats in the world among countries that claim to be democratic…of course we are also democratic.

Singapore bans chewing gum but legalise casinos. Casinos are legalised in only 2 of the 50 American states.

Singapore hangs the most people per capita in the world. Even more than China….do believe this feller called Shadrake.

Singapore cars are the most expensive in the world.

Singaporeans have the lowest purchasing power among all developed countries according the UBS…even Malaysians in KL have higher purchasing power.

Singapore govt has the highest sovereign wealth fund per capita...and among the top few in absolute terms.

Singapore spends more on defence than Malaysia and Indonesia combined; so I guess we don’t need too much diplomacy and or diplomats, can afford to badmouth them according to wikileaks. Now that they know, we better spend a $100M extra this year on defence.

Singapore has the No.1 civil service in the world according to Minister Lim Swee Say. I want to add we also have No.1 civil service in terms of pay for the top echelon. Some can afford French cooking lessons.

Singapore has only one news paper company called SPH that produces hoards of quality papers such as Straits Times, Sin Min and other reading delights. We had 5 newspaper companies a few decades ago, I guess this business is in decline even as the population increases.

Singaporeans serve NS for 2-2.5 years, this is the longest in the world after Israel. We do it because we can afford the time. Many Singaporean workers will work their whole life without retirement anyway so what is the difference putting aside 2 years.

Singapore has the world’s oldest and wisest politician. His name is Lee Kuan Yew. As long as he is around, the good life for Singaporeans will continue. He will make sure of that.

Lee Kuan Yew’s son is Lee Hsien Loong who coincidentally became PM due to his own merit. His New Year Message this year asks Singaporeans to be more RESILIENT.

Singapore has the most expensive public housing in the world….but according to Minister Mah, it is still affordable.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has urged Singaporeans to be psychologically ready for the uncertain times ahead.

Frankly, I hope this remark is not designed as an old commonly-used and worn-out attempt to instill paranoia and siege mentality into Singaporean psyche, though LHL falls short of ending his remarks with 'hence, we need a strong government, yada yada...' which alludes to urging Singaporeans the need to retain PAP in power since it sees itself as 'strong' (yes indeed, strong in terms of strong-arm governance tactics to steamroller policies onto us Singaporeans and in curbing dissent) and 'visionary' (probably the light at the end of every tunnel only for the elites including MIWs but nowhere in sight for many Singaporean average folks).

It's a no brainer that as a small country, due to the surrounding geopolitical environment, we have to be tied in with the world and not afford to be isolationist, and since we have no choice but to be interdependent with the other countries, we surely need to adapt. This is not a situation unique only to Singapore, but also a situation that applies to many small affluent countries.

As it stands now, despite the uncertain international environment, a number of small affluent countries are able to on the one hand adapt externally, and also preserve domestic well-being for citizens. Countries like New Zealand and Denmark, not to mention the other smaller states in Europe for instance, are able to adapt to external upheavals while at the same time, ensuring that the needs and rights of their citizens are well taken care of.

How about Singapore? There's no end to the exhortation to beware of the uncertain times, no end also to the need to adapt to prevent ourselves from losing out. Yes, earlier days we heeded the call and we tried our utmost best in education and work to give our very best. But the unfortunate thing is that despite our efforts, we continue to be marginalized by the same ruling regime which keeps exhorting us to work hard and stay relevant in the changing times. At the same time, they justify their presence in 'steering our country clear of uncertain times' with the obscene amount of remuneration. The worst insult is that while the economy is growing, it benefits the elites like MIWs, but not the average common folks who contributed to the growth and endured the privations as a result of us heeding the PAP's rally call.

Therefore, in changing times of uncertainties, the PAP and associated elites managed to forge ahead, stepping on us average citizens to scale the ladder in order to board the ship to weather the storm, while we are left behind, some of us left further depressed by them as they step harder to evade the storm, and then, we're left floating at sea in the midst of the storm, left practically to our own devices, because the MIWs' mantra remains 'you die your own business'.

Hence to LHL, after GE2011, after hearing your dispassionate calls for inclusivity (from your fellow MIWs too) and your urgings for changes, and seeing what's unravelling now starting in this parliament sitting, I've doubts as to whether your party means what you meant to be. There'll probably be another 5 years until 2016 when we're left at sea in the storm struggling to stay afloat while you PAP will deny us the life buoy or at least some basic flotation devices only until 2016 when polls come near for us to renew your mandate.
https://twitter.com/occupysg

In other countries, such as China and Japan, the elderlies may look forward to retirement at a relatively comfortable age. In Japan for instance, it's a shame to let the elderlies continue working as their physical fitness creaks along with age. The only decency is to allow the elderlies, who had slogged their guts and sweat out for decades, enjoy their comfortable twilight years.

And those twilight years can be better spent on more worthwhile events they may not have had time to undergo in their youth due to their preoccupation with working. For instance, the time can be better spent to go on tours around the world, enjoy good food, spend value time with their children and grandchildren, and do whatever they have never done in their youth. That's called decent retirement life, not the type espoused by the PAP here to make the elderlies continue to slog their last vestiges of guts and sweat out in their twilight years.

Do allow me to also say that the elderlies, assuming a decent retirement age, could have enjoyed those abovementioned activities using their own CPF monies. There's already no pension (except for you-know-who), and yet the PAP regime refuses to allow the elderlies to have access to those hard-earned monies, which don't belong to the ruling regime in the first place, until that ridiculous, arbitrarily-set increased age limit.

Where's the moral compass of governance, if I may ask PAP? And what you MIWs should be doing is to revisit the employment laws with respect to the younger manpower pool who's finding it hard to get a decent job that can earn a decent living in Singapore. If the younger folks can find employment, will it be necessary then for the elderlies to continue working to share their children's burden due to the rising costs of living, and the stagnating salaries (that's if Singaporean sons and daughters are able to out-compete for jobs with the FTs).

Sorry to say, therefore, MIWs, you got your priorities all wrong. The solution should be to reduce the CPF withdrawal age limits, hence returning the hard-earned monies to the elderlies who deserve a decent retirement. In addition to that, revise laws looking into younger Singaporean's employment opportunities. This is concrete action, unlike the mouth exercise by LSS calling for foreign employers not to be biased in employing only FTs.

https://twitter.com/occupysg

Or maybe Grandpa Goh brought her out for a really heavy Nasi Briyani lunch. She starts off all blurry-eyed trying hard to keep awake, she knows it wrong, she fights it by blinking harder and more frequent…but at about 18secs she finally gives in to the her fleshy desires by letting her heavy eyelids close over those princessy innocence eyes tainted by the old folks in Macpherson ward trying to make ends meet. I am sure she has her excuses, like many other MPs juggling two jobs or Ministers juggling two portfolios or juggling career, family and kids…oh wait, damn, she’s a full time MP and it’s your big boss that is charting the direction of the country! Every cent of her glorious $14,000 per month MP allowance shall hence forth be remembered by Singaporeans…so much for quitting her job to “focus on my responsibilities in MacPherson and Marine Parade GRC.”

https://twitter.com/occupysg

He represented the group who wants pure non-PAP President.

Besides, TJS counting agents also help TCB fight for votes because TCB not enough counting agents and TT got counting agents at every table.

TKL, TJS and TCB not enough counting agents so they ganged up cause TT counting agents very aggressive and confrontational, always want to disqualify TCB, TJS and TKL votes. Thats the story.

All TT Counting Agents from NTUC, Grassroots, RC, CCC, Civil Service, GLCs etc but they deny they were from all these places and they deny they were activated to do a job.

They were shocked when we say we don't belong to any party, just volunteers doing our Singaporean bit. They never thought Singaporeans will volunteer for such things for FREE or not under orders from any hierarchy.

I thought President suppose to be above party politics so when TCB say PAP ordered all their spider web of connections to support only TT, you can see where TT's strength comes from and TT is not independent.
https://twitter.com/occupysg

Lee Hsien Loong says Singaporeans faced a difficult choice between Dr Tony Tan and Dr Tan Cheng Bock. "This was an intensely fought election, and the result was very close. Dr Tony Tan and Dr Tan Cheng Bock (who had the next highest number of votes) both conveyed strong unifying messages, and declared their intention to work closely with the government."

Well, isn't this the ultimate strategy that you MIWs have adopted, LHL? Isn't this your immediate solution to install TT as a President for the next 5 yrs, so you can have a temporary relief since the general election?

Of course, it boils down to the fact also that we've 3 gentlemen contending against TT, making for a 4-corner fight. But isn't it also true that you MIWs approved their cert of eligibility as the centrepiece of your 'divide and conquer' strategy. Isn't it designed to split the votes amongst TCB, TJS and TKL?

Now that your endorsed favourite TT has been elected, albeit with a narrow margin, you can say whatever nice sounding flowery languages you like. If you're not a forgetful man, allow me to point out to you PAP's penchant for saying A, and doing B.

Before GE2011, you apologised and your ministers also conceded that you're servants to us the people, who are the masters. But after GE2011, as you secured victory, you reverted to type. CPF withdrawal, public transport price hikes, etc all came rolling like a sandstorm, as if it's being held back first for the benefit of PAP during polls and later unleashed upon us.

You talked about unity of country, no to divisive politics and all that. Look at what your grassroots are doing about the seizure of land in opposition wards for PAP's own political agenda? What unity are you talking about? After that recent case, I can't find any word to describe the utter lack of sincerity in what you're purporting about national unity.

So what's the bottomline? Mr Lee, you can behave in a chivalrous manner and play the 'good man' image coming out after TT's victory to talk and urge unity. We Singaporeans want unity, we wish for the country to move on. But with TT's win, my frank opinion is that it'll be very hard. Personally, I shall let this score be settled once and for all by 2016, and if not, anytime in the not too distant future.

Only with PAP's deeply entrenched institutions ripped up by popular mandate at GE polls will there ever be true sociopolitical advancement for Singapore.
https://twitter.com/occupysg

How can we rely on one single person or entity to unify the people? It's a multi-stakeholdership in order to make unity happen. But as it stands, the situation at present is not what it should be in order to heal the sociopolitical divide.

We the people are by nature docile, peace-loving, tolerant and far from xenophobic for instance. Our ancestors and now the current generations of Singaporeans are able to sustain multi-culturalism and this virtue speaks volume of our ability to unite as one united people regardless of race or religion. We may have different political inclinations, but never before did we see such vociferous inter-camp rivalries in Singapore - between PAP and anti-PAP - before in our history. There is a reason why.

The ruling regime, PAP, is not the one which is trying to promote unity. In contrast, it is doing otherwise.

By segregating society into those who support and those who don't support PAP through dishing out of incentives and disincentives, this is already an act of dividing a nation. Nobody is thus allowed to have any political freedom other than pledging eternal support to PAP. This is despite the fact that no matter what's the political inclinations, each and every Singaporean does his or her duty to the country, such as paying taxes and doing national service.

By erecting unfair barriers that is anathemal to even sociopolitical playing field, PAP prevented Singaporeans from exercising rightful mandates for whichever parties which secure power, whether at national or local level. The recent WP-PA dispute is one notable example. The party rightfully elected in that GRC isn't allowed to carry out its duty according to mandate, and this is an outright disrespect of the people's choice by PAP. This only widens the sociopolitical rift, not heal it.

By promoting policies which don't benefit the average Singaporean but outright perceived to be designed to promote PAP's narrow interests, how can unity be built? The best example is the immigration policies, whereby PAP opens the floodgates and allowed societal divide between the locals and foreigners, which bred inter resentment, all while the PAP bigwigs enjoy the fat revenues and turning a blind eye to these ground issues. Not to forget that instead of upholding the local identity which is crucial for national unity, some PAP bigwigs chose to accuse Singaporeans of being xenophobic. If a ruling party doesn't care a hoot about unity, why expect the people to care?

The people of Singapore yearns unity, in much the same vein as we sustain multiculturalism and inter-ethnic tolerance. However, the system in Singapore, where PAP extends its political tentacles unscrupulously throughout all aspects of society, robs the people of unity, and widens this political divide. As such, it's never enough for the people alone to try to unite if the PAP continues to throw stumbling blocks across our path.

Not to mention the president, who himself will be either constrained by the PAP in his or her execution of duty to unite the people, or himself is simply another integral part of PAP.

As it stands, there's no unity, unless PAP takes the first bold steps to concede that it has caused this rift in the first place, and takes concrete, corrective actions to restore unity. It's not us the people who wants political divide and confrontational politics. Who started all these in the first place is clear for all to see.
https://twitter.com/occupysg

I cannot imagine such splashing of victory will be given to the newcomer and upstart on the political scene Tan Jee Say.

This election has shown how the people of Singapore in general think. There is more than 64% of the electorate who REBUFFED him, despite the usual low tactics to get the clans, business association, and god knows what to endorse him with the government of the day telling its citizen that this is a non partisan election? really. Tony Tan won with ONLY 35.2 per cent and he thinks he has the mandate to rule over Singapore as the president. Must be the biggest joke in town.

He won by ONLY a dismal margin of 0.35% to his PAP colleague Tan Cheng Bock, though not endorsed by the PAP explicitly, and made to believe that he is an independant candidate? so as to take away the votes from the people opposing the incumbents, like Tan Jee Say, after portraying him in the extreme. This seems to have worked strategically for the PAP, as they are aware that there is no ground support for the endorsed candidate Tony Tan.

With the full media support behind him, the current incumbents, and then the local business associations and clans, it clearly shows who is in support of Tony Tan, only the establishments, the business people BUT not the ordinary Singaporeans.

PM should shut his trap if he has nothing else to offer than -
"Voters have chosen Dr Tony Tan as out head of state, to represent us at home and abroad, and to excercise custodial powers, including our reserves and key appointments."

ONLY 35.2 per cent have chosen Tony Tan, meaning that most, the over 64 per cent do NOT believe that Tony Tan is capable to represent us as the head of state at home and abroad, or excercise custodial powers, including our reserves.

Most believe that Tony Tan's role is more likely to be for covering up for the billions of losses he, the President has made on behalf of his people, and Singaporeans while heading the GIC. Singaporeans can thank our lucky stars that Tony Tan is now no longer in charge of GIC to continue wth his ground breaking record of losing billions of our reserves in the past decades with no qualms.

"This was an intensely fought election and the result was very close.Dr Tony Tan and Dr Tan Cheng Bock (who hd the next highest number of votes) both conveyed strong unifying messages, and declared their intention to work closely with the government."

There you go, the PM has now explicitly endorsed also Tan Cheng Bock, who claims to be independant of the PAP?

Unifying messages? like what? like Tan Cheng Bock's idea of women participating in elections is to first get permission from their husbands? what a joker. At the least Tony Tan knows how to keep his trap shut and not make such type of statements.

"delcared their intention to work with the governement.."

PM perhaps mean that these two PAP supported candidates intend to keep silent and their traps shuts and be another prata man just raking in their millions for the 6 year tenure? These are the two who apparently do not have the conscience, and do not think the the current presidential salary of millions is obscenly disproportionate to what they have to do, that is, to keep silent and continue to do what their predecessor the prata man has done?

What about Tan Jee Say. PM has conveniently and intentionally left out mentioning this upstart in the race, and who has done seeming well, taking more than 25 percent of the votes. The whole PAP machinery including the mainstream media has taken a lot of effort to portray Tan Jee Say to the extreme to their advantage. Tan Jee Say has also indicated that he will work with the governement. PM should perhaps dig his ears and listen carefully but apparently not, as he is very capable of shutting out what he does not want to hear, and so far his claims of listening to Singaporeans is left much to be desired.

"Voters faced difficuly choice between Dr Tony Tan and Dr Tan Cheng Bock. This explains why the margin was so narow, and why the winner only gained slightly more than one-third of the votes."

Voters faced NO difficulty nor was it a difficult choice. 64.8 percent of voters DO NOT want Tony Tan as the president of Singapore, PERIOD, not by a narrow margin. Only pro PAP voters faced the difficult choice not voters per se.

"I have called Dr Tony Tan to congratulate him on hs election, and assured him of my full ooperation."

Pinky, please don't continue to insult the intelligence of Singaporeans, you don't have to tell us that Tony Tan has your full support. It is already OBVIOUS even before he is elected. One wonders what kind of speech this will be if Tan Jee Say has been elected, or if your reaction would have been this speedy.

"I called Dr Tan Chen Bock and his supporters for having fought an effective and dignified campaign."

Of course, you would Pinky, to try to win their votes over? Afterall Tan Cheng Bock is also an endorsed PAP canadiate, though not explicitly as Tony Tan, and as a second choice like Tony Tan was second choice to Goh Chok Tong for the Prime Minister post.

It also shows how petty the PM is. Why only call these two people. Shows how he is treating people with differing views from him and PAP, like how he has treating our past president Ong Teng Cheong.

Both Tan Jee Say and Tan Kin Lian has done the country a service by providing alternates for the people to vote, and the opportunity for the country and the people to show that it DOES NOT endorse a PAP endosed president, and not as the PM who is living in netherlands that he still has the mandate of the people. PAP is till in power becuase of the routine amendment to the constitution and laws to give them the continued grip over power.
https://twitter.com/occupysg

This includes the press, other forms of media, grassroots institutions, the legislation as well as other associated apparatus, government or co-opted by the ruling regime, to prolong and perpetuate its rule.

Since its ascendancy to power in the early days of Singapore, PAP has already planned for this. During then, the pressing issues were to get a country kickstarted with economic development. But point to note that this task was not at all impossible to achieve since the Brits did leave behind a functioning bureaucracy, and that the port of Singapore was then already thriving. We were no forsaken swamp. By that virtue, we got rich and we developed, but that was probably the time that PAP begun to set the foundations for its perpetual rule. This also coincided with the departure of many of the Old Guards of PAP.

Over these decades, without us knowing since we were too busy with increasing our living standards, PAP has already silently and discreetly extending its tentacles into virtually all sinews of our society. The grassroots is one of them, and so does the media. The hold on all these apparatus of politics, governance and society is so entrenched that PAP has gone complacent, knowing that this is a fait accompli done, and there's practically no or little means for any dissenters to make a resistance, legally or by violence.

This was what we saw in the case of authoritarian and dictatorial countries like Libya, where the citizens found no recourse against the tentacles of the ruling regimes that they had to resort to violence to fight for their rights. Surviving dictatorial countries like North Korea for instance are equally scared after seeing the plight of Qaddafi, Mubarak and the likes.

But we Singaporeans need not resort to violence like people in those countries did. We're peaceful by nature. The only weapon we have in hand is merely the piece of ballot paper we're given once every five years. Without a concerted effort amongst Singaporeans to unite and demonstrate our resolve at the polls against the PAP, the status quo will still remain, with only little change. This GE2011 is a good example of how well entrenched the system is, and how disunited the people of Singapore is (since not many saw the ills of the system). Despite losing a GRC and 6 seats in parliament, the system still largely favours the PAP. It's a small loss to them since it at least gives them the chance to continue their business as usual.

This issue about grassroots institutions being politicised in the first place when it shouldn't be is just one example of how PAP and its front organisation PA remain so complacent and confident of their political future, knowing that their political tentacles are so well and deeply entrenched in the society, and knowing that it'll only take a united stand amongst the Singaporeans to vote them out of power once and for all. In fact, PAP is confident that we will not be united anyway so there's nothing for them to be scared of. This GE2011 vindicated that their fears are misplaced.

What we all need to do, in order to rip up those deeply entrenched tentacles of the PAP throughout our society once and for all, is to unite at the polls in 2016. PE2011 will merely serve as a small and somehow useless warning to PAP. The only time to do it is 2016. By then, especially to those 60.1%, please open your eyes to see how degenerated our country has become with such petty politicking and abuse of power by PAP, and just vote it out once and for all.

Singapore belongs to us, not the select elite few of PAP. Majulah Singapura, tidak majulah PAP!
https://twitter.com/occupysg

But this is not the end of hope. Let MIWs have their way this year, because by 2016 I'm not sure if they'll have their way again. The only way to restore justice, integrity and good governance in Singapore is only through the parliamentary route, by voting out PAP.

Hopefully, everybody - we commoners and the political opposition - based on the lessons of GE2011 and PE2011, understand the lesson of unity. In order to effect change, we need to stand united in action, not divide amongst ourselves. We need to be united in order to stand a chance to change in 2016.
https://twitter.com/occupysg

11:32 TCB 35.4%, TT 33%

11:37 Tony Tan is believed to be leading in Marine Parade

11:39 Tan Cheng Bock is leading in Pasir Ris Punggol by over 200 votes

11:40 Just in from Maha Bodhi Primary School: Tony Tan - 4996 votes, Tan Jee Say - 4649 votes, Tan Cheng Bock - 4444 votes, Tan Kin Lian - 928 votes and 337 spoilt votes. Tony Tan leads.

11:41 TT is catching up on TCB with the votes from the north and central parts coming in. Difference is less than 2% now.

11:42 TCB 35% TT 33% Final?

11:54 Tan Jee Say is leaving his house for Bedok Stadium now, though he's declined to say anything to the press

12:05 AM More than 600,000 Singaporeans voted for TJS. This is an impressive result considering that he is a newcomer with no political base or experience.

12:08 FINAL RESULTS FROM RIVERSIDE SECONDARY (North): TCB - 32.94%. TJS - 28%. TT - 35.82%. TKL - 5.45%.

12:13 TJS just arrived at Bedok stadium. Crowd's chanting, "Tan Jee Say, ho say".

12:14 With 60% of the vote counted, Tan Cheng Bock is still leading by "2-plus per cent"

12:16 If it's a really, really close race, the 5,500 overseas votes - to be counted on Tuesday - will come into play

12:18 Tony Tan's counting agent says he's leading in Marine Parade, ahead of TCB but only by a narrow margin.

12:20 TT appears to be inching closer to TCB as the last batch of votes come in.

12:24 80% of overall votes have been counted but it is too close to tell if candidates TCB or TT is leading.

12:25 TT: 35%, TCB: 35%, TJS: 25%, TKL: 5% If TT win, kelong anyone?

12:31 ED - recount going on, TCB neck to neck with TT

12:34 TCB's 2% lead appears to have evaporated in recount. Stunning

12:37 My gut feelings....the final countdown...the final shoot out ....the final winner will be
TT...

12:45 "I want to thank all my supporters. Whether we win or lose, we have already won, with our hearts."- Tan Jee Say

12:53 SHOCKING: Workers' Party supporters switched at the last minute to support Tan Cheng Bock because Low Thia Khiang had expressed privately that he does not like Tan Jee Say. Congrats WP for splitting front runner TJS votes with TCB. Now looks like TT will be the president.

01:07 Tan Cheng Bock is surrounded by a huge mob of photographers at Jurong East Stadium. TCB appears as if he won the PE!

01:15 Yes-Man Gillian from institute of policy study at CNA says TT is leading.

01:18 ED: Tan Cheng Bock and Dr Tony Tan with most votes. Difference not more than 2% of total number of valid votes.

01:20 The difference was about 8,000 votes as there's less than 2% separating TCB and TT

01:21 TT won by about 8,000 votes, TCB ask for recount.

01:24 TJS: I will seek our nation's happiness. Thanks opponents, and says it was humbling meeting different Singaporeans. "Walk with me as we write the next chapter of the Singapore story, there is no limit to what I can do and what we can do. Thank you and good night."

01:28 Tan Jee Say: The integrity of Govt must be proven. I pledge to you that this trust shall not be misplaced. I will not fail you

01:31 ‎8,000 votes quite difficult to bridge. Let's welcome Tony Tan as our next President tomorrow. Good night?

04:26 Returning officer: 'I declare Tony Tan Keng Yam as the candidate elected as the President of Singapore'

Final Results:
Tan Cheng Bock: 737,128 (34.85%)
Tan Jee Say: 529,732 (25.04%)
Tony Tan: 744,397 (35.19%)
Tan Kin Lian: 103,931 (4.91%)
Total valid votes: 2,115,188
Rejected votes: 37,826
Local votes counted are conclusive of the results.
https://twitter.com/occupysg

They gerrymandered, they divide the nation so as keep absolute power.

PAP government is too large. Not only does its economic activity hamper local entrepreneurship it also cultivates an environment where within the GLCs a climate of cronyism is created and perpetuated. It is a very poor way to manage an economy. It's good for the ruling party but bad for the country and the people. A lof of the GLCs should be privatised or cut down in size. Productivity and growth within and outside of Singapore can only be achieved by true entrepreneurs and not by government-linked employees. Government-linked employees are like the opposite of what an entrepreneur is.

Free-market is the backbone towards economic growth. Less government involvement except in legislation is what the economy needs. ALl needs to be done and done in a structures manner. Right now, our economy is tuned to support the PAP regime in all the areas that support the regime but there are too many policies that harm the country in the long term and the people in both the short term and the long term.

Do you seriously expect the majority of Singaporeans to be able to survive on current wage and economic structures when housing reaches 30-50% higher than what it is today?
https://twitter.com/occupysg
This is unlike the 'fairer' supplementary or alternate voting system practiced in some elections in Europe, whereby voters express a first choice as well as second and third choices. If no candidate receives 50% of first choice votes, the bottom candidate is removed and votes for that candidate are re-assigned to the remaining candidates based on their second choices. This continues until a candidate emerges with 50% of the valid votes.

In fact, the fielding of three non-establishment-backed candidates in this Presidential Election (Tan Cheng Bock, Tan Kin Lian and Tan Jee Say) has split the majority votes against the establishment’s preferred candidate (Tony Tan).

To examine further, below is a constructed distribution of the electorate by their general characteristics and their likely voting patterns.

Under the FPTP system that we are in, it is likely that Tony Tan would emerge the winner with 40% of the votes coming from the electorate group which regularly votes for the PAP or the establishment by default.

If we were to reassign the votes for TKL, it is likely that TCB and TJS will share the spoils, with Tony Tan still receiving only 40% of the votes.

In the final round, we would come down to the top two candidates and the votes for the 3rd-placed TCB reassigned.

It is only in a direct face-off, that a non-establishment candidate Tan Jee Say could emerge the winner.

Thus in this four-horse race, voters should assess which two candidates are frontrunners — that is, most likely to win — and to vote for the preferred one of those two, even if a third candidate is preferred over.

In a multi-conrned fight under the FPTP system, a vote for any candidate other than the top two will likely be "wasted" and has no impact on the final result.
I wish to bring to your attention on one instance whereby the Cooling-off Day rule could be violated.

I was on my way to Tekka Centre for lunch around 2pm yesterday (26 August 2011) which we all knew is the Cooling-off Day for the Presidential Election 2011.

I happened to walk past a corner shop called Hua Brothers Hardware(Pte) Ltd (near one of the Little India MRT entrance at Blk 662) and a stack of election flyers for Dr Tony Tan (CONFIDENCE FOR THE FUTURE: see attached photo) sitting right at the top of the newspaper rack caught my eyes. Without any doubt, this is obviously meant to be distributed to those who are buying newspaper from the rack at the same time. (On a second look, it looks especially ironic while it sits prominently on the rack that is provided to the vendor by SPH).

I feel that this is a breach of election rule under Cooling-off Day by a supporter of Dr Tan Tony Tan (who is most likely to be the shop owner). It also bothers me much that if there are no complaints from the general public, these flyers are likely to remain there till the release of the election result on Polling Day tonight.

From a Citizen with much concern,
