I recall the movie Notting Hill where the two leads, Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts was in the living room, eying each other secretly. Grant props his feet on the table reading the papers, while Julia reading her book.

Then Julia making a comment on Grant’s big feet, “Big feet, big …”. She didn’t end the sentence, but both ended laughing, and Grant knew what she was implying.

Well if only that is true, I would have a big penis then eh, but it is just a myth. I’m not saying mine is teeny weeny, but let’s say it’s modestly average.

There has been a study regarding this myth in fact. A study done on more than 3,000 mean has found that there was no correlation between the self-reported size of feet and that of the crown jewels.

Another different study by St. Mary’s Hospital in London, compared foot size to carefully measured privates, and all 104 of penises has no correlation to the foot size.

So there you go, be it the length of your fingers or the size of feet will ever determine the length and size of your penis.

I think for every person who told me the term, I think I could be a rich dude by now. There’s no such thing as toning your muscles. Muscles can’t be toned. it can only grow larger and stronger, or smaller and weaker.

Muscles don’t firm-up or get longer unless you have the help of surgery. I think the term was coined by the media people who don’t know their sports science.

So no matter how many weights you do, or the general myth or doing more reps with lighter weight for toning, your muscle won’t tone! The only way to see your muscles toned is by losing fat.

Well to achieve that it’s more of a combination of consistent strength training, low-calorie diet and regular cardio exercise.

As for strength training I would recommend an overall whole body workout rather than focusing on individual body parts. I’ve seen plenty of guys working out their biceps with no triceps development, or huge upper body with skinny chopstick legs. They don’t look pleasant symmetrically.

Also by building muscle and the more of it you have, you’re actually aiding your fat loss journey. Did you know that one pound of muscle burns around 60 calories a day, compared to 5 calories a day burned to fat.

As for the weights, reps and sets to do in the gym, I usually try to hit 10 at minimum, and no higher than 15 for most exercises and muscle groups. Ideally I recommend 30 seconds to under 1-minute of rest time, so as to keep the heart rate elevated as well as give the muscles a brief rest and recovery period before the next set.

So good luck in your muscle building journey, train smart consistently and you’ll see results!

And don’t get me started on spot training, that’s another myth. That one maybe on another blog post.

Well today I again guess-timate my route, but luckily I didn’t run as long as yesterday.

It was a good 29 minute run around the Sembawang-Yishun area.

I think my pace this week is pretty even and fast, all hovering a sub 4:30 minute per km

For today itself it’s a 4:12 minute per km pace.

I finished off with body workout at the fitness area in the park. The great thing running around 3-4pm is that there’s not much of people around to distract or kids loitering the area. That’s why I always try to finish my work earlier as much as I can.

The only gripe about running for me is that there will be always 2-3 jokers who will try to run me down on the road.

These moronic drivers never slow down at traffic crossing, just plough through zebra crossings, and drives like a speed demon.

I do hope they’ll get a ticket or something, and it didn’t require a tragedy for them to learn that road safety is important.

Anyway I usually runs alone, and I just wish I had a training buddy. The closest thing to that I could conjure is pacing with the bicycles on the road.

Of course I can’t keep pace with racing bicycles, but I’ll tend to pace young cyclists, from school kids to factories workers. I’ve never paced old folks and lady cyclists, they’re too slow for me.

So if you want to do fartlek or intervals perhaps, chase bicycles. Then move on to chasing buses!

For those who are clueless about supplements, there’s a product call protein supplements that aids in muscle building, recovery and health benefits.

And for those who are already supplementing themselves with protein, then you should then know about whey protein and casein protein. Both have similar objectives, to make you strong and big, but its route method of supplementation varies.

Whey is fast acting, taking around 30 minutes, for the level of amino acids in your blood has reached its high point.

While Casein is slow acting, taking around 4 hours for you to reach a peak in protein synthesis and blood amino acids.

My advise is have the best of both world. Some of you might think, why not combine both whey right. Wrong, that will just defeat the purpose of gaining the most benefits from both types of whey.

I personally advise taking whey after your workout or meals to stimulates protein synthesis, then followed by casein few hours later for preventing excessive protein breakdown.

Don’t go cheap on me now. To look good, you need to ‘invest’ a little in your consumption habits. Anyway supplements are getting cheaper by the day these days. Why not take advantage of offers and promotions, and design the body that you can be proud of.

You know what, I am such a klutz at times. Today I wanted an easy run, as I was really tired this whole week from work, but I ended up running 11 plus km today, haha.

The thing is I would usually plan my route first with mapmyrun tool which will give me a distance. Today I didn’t do that, but did a guestimate of the route in my mind.

No wonder by halfway through the run, my feet was aching. I don’t usually go beyond the 40 minute run for my mileage daily. I was already committed to the run, I might as well go through with my running route. Oh well lesson learned.

The pace today was 4:29 minute per km, better than some days in fact with shorter mileages, I was surprised. Maybe my plan to encounter as little traffic light as possible was why I ran faster.

In total I think I only stopped 3-4 times at the traffic junction. So that’s good. I would opt making a detour albeit longer, just not to encounter traffic lights today.

Also there was a part of my mileage today that became specific strength endurance, keke. There’s two encounter on a lengthy slope at Marsiling Lane near the jetty and one near Admiralty Road West at Admiralty Park.

My legs was ‘aching’ with lactic acid from the slope run-climb. Pretty much reminds me of my sprint training days at Kent Ridge NUS slopes there.

Also the monkeys at Admiralty Park I observed are getting more daring. They stationed themselves on the gravel path itself, like a toll booth. One adult monkey even tried to ’shoo’ me away. WTF. If I was any smaller, I think I would have been attacked.

I reckon it’s the public that feed these monkeys are at fault. They’re not pets, once you feed them, they’ll expect more and be aggressive for more food.

Well my feet is still aching, especially the soles of my foot. Gonna massage them now before resuming work. Toodles!

A recent study published in the Lancet medical journal, done by Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore found that if you’re circumcised, and you happen unknowingly engaged in a partner who is infected with AIDS, the circumcision may help protect the men from the AIDS virus.

The study also revealed that for women, it does not protect them from infected men. The researcher found that circumcision is so effective in protecting men, and such practices might reduce the circulation of the virus in general.

It is found that why circumcised men are less likely to become infected by female partners is likely due to the foreskin of the penis. When removed, it makes the infection more difficult, as the foreskin is rich in cells, an easy target for the HIV or AIDS virus to infect.

The scientist was quoted, “The efficacy of male circumcision for prevention of HIV in uninfected men is clear, and reductions in male acquisition of HIV attributable to circumcision are likely to reduce women’s exposure to HIV-infected men. Male circumcision programs are thus likely to confer an overall benefit to women.”

Well enough of banter aye, and it’s back to serious business. I had a rest on Wednesday, well I nearly skipped the rest day as I felt alright, but from experience, rest is what I needed.

So today I ventured to the Yishun-Sembawang area. It seems every time I run this area, my pace is always faster. It’s around 4:06 minute per km today.

Maybe its the route itself which has less interruptions such as traffic lights and lesser people in sight blocking my way. I felt nothing special in my running, the pace and effort quite similar to what I exert in Marsiling-Woodlands area, but I’m faster.

Also I ran with my new running shades this week. I bought two pairs from Amazon.com and it’s was a splendid buy. I bought X Loop X63 Sunglasses Wrap Style UV400 Lens.

It had high ratings and reviews at Amazon, and I can see why. Fits nicely on my face, doesn’t restrict my running, the view is excellent and its bloody light. As if I felt that I’m not wearing it at all.

I ran in a hot 4 pm afternoon weather, so the shades came in handy very well indeed. Also I received more looks than usual today while jogging! Hahaha … yeah it’s a head-turner.

After the jog, I went to the park’s fitness corner to do my upper body. By then I was totally thirsty, and I was wishing the parks had some kind of water cooler or outdoor shower area to cool off.

Well if ya ask, and ya shall received. Somehow or rather I happen to notice two little boys getting some water to drink and drenching themselves wet. The source is a small water tap, hidden in a secluded area of the park. You would miss it, if you didn’t observe it close enough.

So with that, I myself drenched my body and took few gulps of water. There was no sign prohibiting the usage of the tap. It’s located at the South entrance of the Woodlands Crescent Park. Let this be our little secret eh :)

Well that scene above is practically me on a daily basis. I of course don’t eat in my towel, as I live in a rented apartment, so it would be weird if the landlord is around, haha.

I myself consume like 6-7 small meals a day, all evenly spaced out. I don’t drink carbonated drinks, eat anything with high fructose in it, I take plenty of grains, fiber, protein, good carbs and lots of hydration with fluids.

Your quality of life is only as good as what you consume. Spare your digestive tracts with ’soft’ food and avoid all the junk.

Yes indeed, cursing does help in withstand the pain afflicted on you. A recent NeuroReport publication revealed this interesting study done by Keele University’s School of Psychology.

They got some 60 undergraduates and they were told to put their hands in a bucket of freezing ice-filled water. The study was made on the pain level with students who cursed and those repeating neutral PG-words.

Well what do you know, the ones who cursed tend to be able to withstand putting their hand in the 41-degree icy water much longer for an average of 190 seconds. While those who cursed PG-words only averaged 140 seconds.

The researchers suggests that there’s a link between bad words and lesser pain perception. People’s heart-rate was higher when cursing, and fuels emotions such as fear and anger which mask the pain better.

The scientists was quoted, “Swearing has been around for centuries and is an almost universal human linguistic phenomenon. It taps into emotional brain centers and appears to arise in the right brain, whereas most language production occurs in the left cerebral hemisphere of the brain. Our research shows one potential reason why swearing developed and why it persists.”

This is just a nice story to start my morning.

16 year old Hannah Clark had her heart transplant ten years ago, that gave her two hearts.

A decade later, and surviving bouts of cancer along the way, her doctors has announced she has made a remarkable recovery.

Hannah who suffered heart failure from cardiomyopathy as an infant, told the media press that her heart healed itself.

There was a point in time back in 2006, when doctors nearly risked reversing her heart transplant to save her from Epstein-Barr-virus-associated post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder.

At 11 months, Clark underwent a heart transplant where doctors grafted a donor heart onto the weak side of Clark’s heart.

By age 4, doctors noticed that both hearts were functioning normally and somehow, the extra heart helped Clark’s weakened heart to heal.

The young Brit teen is now cancer free.

Her doctor was quoted, “The possibility of recovery of the heart is just like magic. The heart, which was not contracting at all at the time, we put the new heart to be pumping next to it and take its work, now is functioning normally.”
