IMG_1084Crawling through caves, exploring ice crevices, hiking amongst ancient trees and scaling rock walls; these are the latest adventures of the SHDHS Eco Team. On May 24, the Eco Team went on their year end trip exploring part of the Blue Mountains near Colliingwood and learning about local habitats, history, the importance of working as a team and encouraging leadership. This has been a very active year for the team, building an outdoor classroom and eating area in the courtyard, attaining a silver medal standing as an Ontario Eco School for SHDHS, planting trees in front of and behind the school, attending conferences, and participating in activities such as caving, rock wall climbing, hiking, zip lining, and braving a high ropes course through the tree canopy in Barrie. Next year promises to be just as exciting with plans for more Earth Week activities, a guest speaker, trips, projects and more. An end of year meeting will be held Wednesday, June 13 in room 99. Anyone wanting to join in the fun and participate next year is encouraged to attend and find out what is in store.
